It had a queen bed, fireplace and large soaker tub with double shower heads. The inn is only 10 minutes from Saugatuck and about 15 minutes to Holland. It is a quiet and quaint place to stay in a beautiful area of Michigan.

Both were great but the tatin is an upside down French apple pie which was fantastic - served warm with vanilla gelato it was unexpectedly thin and crunchy with the crust. Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. We only saw him chillin' outside). If you've never been to a B&B I highly recommend starting with Beechwood Manor. Although it's likely any others you visit may not live up!

The reviews, both on Yelp and from my parents, don't lie. I was so happy that I ended up here and not at one of the other neighboring B&Bs. My favorite part was legit the afternoon popcorn and cookies. SO YUMMY! Breakfast was great too with an amazing view. I only wish that we were there longer so we could take advantage of the proprietor's knowledge of the area and get some recommendations of things to do. We were so tired from new parent life that we basically just napped the weekend away, but it was still a lovely place to do that.

I was a little apprehensive at first after hearing that it is both a salon and hotel, and reading some of the negative reviews about the condition of the rooms. I can only speak to our stay and our room which were both very nice. The room is contemporary, huge, and with well appointed furniture and fixtures. The place looks to have been updated sometime in the recent past, and was impeccably cleaned. I cannot think of a more central location to stay either. Walk out the suite's door and you are a minute away from shopping and dining options. The only downside, and it may be a big deal for late risers, is that suite 7 has a skylight located directly over the bed and does not have a means for closing it. I threw a T-shirt over my eyes and was fine, and my wife was up before it could even bother her. If this is a big issue than you may want to shop their other suites, which also look nice from the online pictures. We will stay at this hotel again in our next visit to Saugatuck.

The ambiance of the building embraced history and was as if we stepped back into time. We chose to stay here because of the historical significance of the building itself. It served so many roles. The owner was a delight and so wonderful to chat with in the morning. It was clean and cool (seeing as we are in the middle of summer). Breakfast was served at 9AM in the morning and was delicious. French toast, fresh fruit, sausage, blueberry pound cake. They have tea and coffee as options. The pool was small but serene. Location was phenomenal - all shops were walking distance within 4 to 10 minutes. Highly recommend staying here.

What hasn't changed is the quality of the food, the availability of triple chocolate brownies and popcorn 24/7, refreshing mint cucumber water, and treats in bowls scattered throughout the common areas. Elaine and Robert run a place that is impeccably clean and incredibly hospitable. They are very quick to address any concern or engage in friendly conversation. It is obvious they are experts in providing guests with an enjoyable stay. We stayed in the Ivy Room in the Manor. It isn't large, and it is at the top of the main stairs, but it's quiet and was just fine for us. The common areas are perfectly appointed for reading or eating or playing games. We had breakfast in the morning and played table games at night on the screened porch, which is lovely and especially charming in the dark. Re: things to do, there is plenty to keep you occupied at the B&B. We spent most of our days wandering around South Haven--walks on the beach, sunset at the pier, going into town for shopping and meals--or in other nearby lake towns, though, and relished the peace of the inn later in the day. If you are there when it's not crowded (e.g., during the week), YMBB has a pedal-powered surrey you can borrow! I will say, I was worried about the change in breakfast service since last time the buffet was amazing. My concern was unfounded, though--being served was delightful and the food options expanded with the inclusion of specialty entrees. We were provided with amuse-bouches of local blackberries with a dollop of whipped cream, plates of a variety of other local fruits, and plenty of choices from the standard and changing menus. My husband enjoyed the decadent quiches and I was happy to see steel-cut oatmeal on offer (with vanilla rhubarb syrup!). We discovered how wonderful hummus or sweet potato could be in the morning, too. Elaine expanded my idea of what breakfast could be, both for myself and at a B&B; I didn't miss casseroles, muffins, or bacon/sausage at all (like what we've had at other places). A special touch that highlights their personalized service -- I mentioned to Robert one afternoon that I meant to tell Elaine to save me some of the edges that are trimmed off before the triple chocolate brownies are served. He found some for me within a few minutes and, when my husband and I arrived at breakfast the next morning, there was a plate of them put side with plastic wrap and a note with my name. So thoughtful! Those chewy edges are my FAVORITE. Even in the smallest, least expensive room, we consider a trip to YMBB a special treat. We are the kind of couple who travels by car and engages in cheap adventures (hiking, camping, etc.). Going away without a planned itinerary is out of my comfort zone...usually. This long weekend of relaxation and restoration convinced me there's another way, and the treatment we received at Yelton Manor was no small part of that.
