Been a client for about a year. Very beautiful place and very knowledgable and friendly staff. Each time I have been there in the past few months, my waiting time exceeds 30 minutes. Always someone just going in ahead of me and at my apptm time. 3 of the cases were for perms, so the wait was very long. Never more than 1 other client in the salon. Because of this, I have stopped going there. I just have not found a reason for this neglect and have been told by several people that this is not unusual. Really a shame. read more

It was my first time to this salon or any salon in months after Covid-19 and I was here visiting family. I thought the salon was beautiful, the staff and owner were fabulous and I felt comfortable with all their precautions and my stylist, Morgan did a great job. I was very pleased, so much so that I purchased a gift card for my mother to go in as well and again another great haircut on my mother from Morgan. I'd highly recommend this salon, it's not something you'd expect in this tiny little town which I also loved since I'm from down county in Westchester. This was my first time at this salon. We decided to go to this place because my niece had been there before and loved it. So she called and set the appointments for 5 of us. We were all doing a girls day for mine and my sisters birthday. We get there and they said the only had us down for haircuts, ok possible my niece messed up when setting it up. We never discussed cost but I figured it would be pricey. So I get a small trim with an all over color, my sister got a pixie cut nothing else, my one niece got a full set, and my other niece requested just the tips of her hair bleached blonde. Well at the end the niece with the tips ended up not getting what was requested. they kind of did highlights but they went up past was it considered tips and they didn't even do all her tips they did them just like highlights. My daughter asked for a small trim with all over color same as what I got. The color was way darker than she had selected and the next day when she was straightening her hair she discovered that they messed up her bangs and they are severely uneven. I will attach a picture if I can. So for the cost of all of this my daughter paid for herself because she wanted to but hers was $200 without tip! Mine and the other 3 cost $605 without tip! So I was going over the cost in my head later and thought maybe they charged me for my daughters by mistake, so I called them and asked. They had to call me back after they figured out the individual prices. Mine was $200, my sister was $40, the niece who got the nails was $80, and the other niece who got just her tips done oh and an ear piercing was $285!! They said well we had to use a few bowls of color on her hair......um ok but her hair cost was outrageous. I definitely will not be going back. And now I have to pay another salon more money to fix what they messed up! read more

Made reservation for full set of nails & a pedicure. Verified when I arrived I was there for full set of nails & a pedicure. Waited 20 minutes past appointment. Got back & the girl had no clue what she was doing. She painted my fingernails, not even a manicure & charged me $55.00. I could have bought a bottle of polish at Walmart for five dollars and given myself a $50 tip. Pedicure was nothing but soak & polish, another $55.00 plus tip. The next day the polish peeled off in sheets. If you need your nails done in Pulaski, New York, drive to Cicero, NY. I'm still in shock. $55.00 to slap on polish? Unreal. Never again read more

I went and had a full set of acrylic nails put on. The staff was nice, not very personable and didn't talk much the entire time I was there. The white tips of my nails were rubbing off the next day and were already chipped after two days. I will not go back to have my nails done there. read more

I cannot even express how completely disappointed I am. I went here once before and had a fine experience so I decided to call again for a haircut. I called on 11/9 and scheduled an appointment for 11/23 at 7:15. I have been looking forward to this as it's my first cut in 6 months and I want to try something new before leaving 11/24 to spend thanksgiving with family. I did not run any errands after work to be sure I could make it to my appointment on time. Exactly 1 hour before my 7:15 appoint (which I had booked 2 weeks previously) I got a call asking me if it would be possible to reschedule for Friday or Saturday. I replied that that would not work because I will not be in town. They then suggested another date which was later. I asked if there were ANY possible way I could come in for a quick cut even if it weren't styled or anything after. I was told they had someone having color done that was taking longer than expected and that would not be possible. I chose not to rebook. I need an appointment that I can trust, especially if I've already had it booked 2 weeks prior. I was so looking forward to this and now I will probably end up having to go to Walmart if I want it done before seeing family. It's a shame I didn't get the heads up sooner, at least then I could have run my errands after work. read more

I did not enjoy an part of my experience at this salon. I went in for full highlights and a trim. I informed the hair dresser my hair lifts quickly. I was places under the dryer for over an hour. she then turned the dryer off and walked away for another 40-50 minutes (my hair doesn't need to process this long). When it finally came time to wash and rise, my head was being tossed around, her rings kept getting stuck in my hair and she would just continue pulling. Every time she gathered my hair under my neck she scrapped my skin with her nails aggressively. After leaving me in the sink for another 40-50 minutes I finally made it to the styling chair. As she was educating me on how my hair is at it's weakest when wet (I am also very educated on how to manage hair) she begins to RIP through my hair from ROOT TO END! When it came to the cut I agreed to shorter layers to try and help with the natural curl of my hair. the layers turned out choppy. She brought them up to short in the back so the framing around my face is longer than the layers on the sides. Once dried and straightened I was able to better asses the highlights, you can see all over where it looks like bleach was dropped on the root and not fixed. Other things that happened that I did not appreciate, while foiling my hair she was on the phone and kept leaving to check texts, after ripping through my hair and chopping it she placed my under the dryer AGAIN so she could curl a friends hair that walked in so she could take a better picture. As a new mom I was very much looking forward to pampering myself for a bit. I left feeling worse then when I arrived. It was not relaxing or enjoyable in the slightest. read more

I went in with my niece and saw chelsea, who was awesome. I was really impressed with her manicure and her blow out (until I gave it some time) tho done differently than what I'm used to. I was expecting to blown out in small sections with a brush not rough dried and curled with an iron but the result was pretty so I can't complain. what I will complain about is mine and my niece's polish coming almost completely off in 36 hours. my wavy blow out was flat by dinner and so I sat mildly disappointed for Dinner, wondering what I spent my money on when I could have done it myself. when I first drafted my review I was giving them 5 stars bc they were sweet, offered beer and it's a small town salon, I shouldn't be b____y. but the floor was covered in hair- it wasn't so busy no one could grab a broom. the polishes were old and at the end of the day the services I paid for didn't last. sorry Cut Above, I tried. read more

As a first-time visitor to a salon, you never know quite what to expect, even though A Cut Above came highly recommended. I can unequivocally say that I was beyond pleased with all aspects of my experience. Michelle was attentive and knowledgeable, very professional. I agreed with her recommendations on a new color and hair extensions - and I was so thrilled with the results!! Because the longer hair extensions were such a change for me, she was very patient in explaining styling tips for me, and she even called me a few days later simply to check in on how I was doing :) Now, a month later, I still love my new "do."
