Always someone just going in ahead of me and at my apptm time. 3 of the cases were for perms, so the wait was very long. Never more than 1 other client in the salon. Because of this, I have stopped going there. I just have not found a reason for this neglect and have been told by several people that this is not unusual. Really a shame.

Unprofessional as well, as workers were being yelled at in front of us because no one would take responsibility for the screw up. They could not figure out who owed what because they did not read the contract or list until after the fact of girls having the services done, which caused for much whispering to other workers and the owner, again in front of all of us. Also asking girls to come back to pay more because they received services they did not ask for. For instance, we were told we could not do eyelashes due to there not being enough time and that they would charge $15 for them. Ridiculous! But then day of we were all offered (???). Also told that we could only do traditional makeup then a couple of us ended up getting sprayed with airbrush and had to pay more - if you are not used to getting professional makeup done you have no idea what's going on you sit there and let the artist do their thing - again more miscommunication by the salon, not the bridal party. Makeup and hair for majority of the girls ended up having to be fixed before the actual ceremony. Waste of time and money for non lasting $75 an updo and $45 to $75 for makeup. I was forced to choose a star rating by Yelp, otherwise this review would contain no stars.

The good: My hair cut is good, my color is pretty good (I've had better)…read more The bad: It took her 4 hours to cut and color my hair. She left the foils in way too long because she booked another client at the same. She also applied my all-over color at the shampoo sink, and then left me at the sink for it to process, which I have NEVER seen in my life. It was uncomfortable to be in that position that long. I probably could have overlooked all of this (by chance I had nothing else to do that day, but I don't know who has FOUR hours to spend at a hair salon), but when my highlights came out literally orange (I'm not exaggerating...cheeto orange) because she left the bleach on for too long, instead of owning up to her mistake, she tried to convince me that it looked good. I told her no way, it needs to be toned, and so she did fix it--but then charged me extra to do so. After being there for four hours, I was too tired to even argue the extra charge. :(

As a gift from my mother, I was given 2 gift certificates (one for me and a friend) to get a cut from Crystal Coville at Fortunato's. I had never had my hair done by her before, but assumed it'd be great just like any other time I'd gone there. I called immediately to book an appointment and never even received a returned phone call. I ended up going elsewhere because I had an event I needed a cut and style for that weekend. I'd almost forgotten about the Groupons until I got a reminder from my mom that they were expiring soon. I called, left a message, and texted Crystal. She informed me that she was not directly associated with the salon (?) which is apparently why I never got a returned phone call two months before, when I called. I find it hard to understand how individuals who work at a particular salon do not return a phone call from a client who left a message on the salon's main answering machine, but that's neither here nor there.. So, after many texts (and, again, not one phone call) with Crystal, I booked an appointment for myself and one of my employees for both of us to go get a cut on a Friday afternoon. The day before the appointment (Thursday), I received a text from Crystal asking if we would be showing up. Confused, I finally realized there was a miscommunication in her texts to me and she asked us to come in on Thursday, not Friday. I explained that I would've never booked that appointment for Thursday because my office is open until 5:30 on that night and we wouldn't have been able to close early during the week. She informed me that she had no availability on the day I had booked. I asked her to let me know when her next available appointment was. She ceased communication with me. I tried calling several times, with no response. I even went as far as calling from my office phone and having my employee call. After four days, she finally called in and told my employee that she would not honor the Groupons because they were now expired and "she doesn't have to honor expired groupons." She also told my employee that I was a "snippy b*tch on the phone" with her and if I had an issue with losing money on the wasted Groupons, I "can take it up with Groupon." I find it hard to believe that a local business, a few blocks away from my home, would have employees (or booth renters) that would treat anyone, let alone someone who is a center of influence as a local business owner herself, this way. I am absolutely appalled at how we were treated throughout this whole process and, as a result of her actions, lack of communication, and sheer lack of respect for myself and my guest, I will NEVER return to Fortunatos and I will deter anyone I know form giving them business as well.

After a few minutes he was called and received his haircut. That left me as the only male waiting. A few minutes later a gentleman came in and walked right to the back and was served. I waited about 30 minutes and the man who was before me was finished. I expected to be called in, but I wasn't. Instead the man cutting the hair was doing something and texting on his phone for at least 10 minutes. Then he disappeared in the back. As I continued to wait, being ignored...another man entered with a little boy. He walked right in. That was enough for me and I left. This is the worse service I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor...DO NOT go to this place. The only good thing I will say about this encounter is I didn't have to give them any money! I do not normally write bad reviews, but I had no choice in this circumstance. Avoid this place at all costs!
