I drove over to the one on McCarran by the mall on a Sunday. They open at 10:00 - we were first in and the woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful and gave directions. They have shampoo, conditioner, brushes, towels, and much needed apron for me. The water pressure was great and it was easy peasy to get her bright and shiny in no time. It was $15 and I'll be dropping in once a month in the future. Your pup get to pick a treat on the way out and it was an excellent experience for us both.

Instead of keeping the price the same to the public they gave us a huge discount because they got a bunch of food discounted to them. The employee I spoke to kept insisting it should be done on my end even after I explained multiple times that the system would not allow me to cancel it. I also can't cancel my card from it because it says to cancel the order first. I later spoke to a manager who assured me the order would be canceled. Instead, today I was charged again, the order was never delivered, nobody contacted me, and now they've already scheduled my NEXT autoship for a month away while once again claiming "the team is already working on it." How is an order a month away already locked from cancellation? This honestly feels like a scheme designed to keep charging customers while making it impossible to cancel autoship orders once they enter their system. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service is unacceptable. Do not sign up for their auto-ship services.

The parking lot at the Reno Public Market area was ridiculously full because they share it with Sprouts and some other stores but walking into Pet Station, it was pretty empty. The store isn't very big and doesn't carry a huge inventory like most major box stores but they do have interest inventory unique to only Pet Station; during this visit I found the Tuesday's Natural Dog Treat (and pup absolutely adores it). The young man manning the store, Mathias (according to the receipt) was helpful and courteous; overall, my visit was uneventful (in a good way) and positive.

However, the staff are also limited by the realities of working in pet retail. Are they doing their best to care for the animals? I'd say yes. Is it enough for the animals to stay healthy? I'd say no. As an experienced fishkeeper, I want to provide a 'buyer beware' for the local hobbyist community. The aquatic systems are being pushed past their biological limits. I observed overstocking in the fish tanks into 'ammonia spike' territory. Some of the fish have clamped dorsal fins. Petco is also keeping larger koi fish and faster comets together with smaller fancy goldfish. This creates too much food competition and stresses out the slower fish that struggle to get enough to eat. If you've ever purchased a fish here that dies shortly afterwards, these are likely some of the reasons: toxic water levels, starvation, and conditions you won't see until the fish you've bought dies a few days later. A 'Wellness' brand should know that fancy goldfish require stable parameters and specific GH/KH levels that a centralized big-box 'loop' simply cannot provide. If Petco (not this store, but the corporation) can't manage the basic science of a fish tank, I certainly don't trust them with my cats' specialized diets or needs. If you need basic cat and dog supplies, Petco is fine for that. It's the "Walmart" of the pet retailer world. But for serious specialized fish care? Save your money and get your fish and supplies from a reputable retailer who doesn't treat live animals like disposable inventory. Or better yet, adopt from another hobbyist who can no longer care for their fish.

Manager Theresa was so knowledgeable about so many things from the kitten food, the world's best cat litter, which is natural and a sample of ultra oil for skin & coat.
