Their quote was the lowest we got, but we got what we paid for. We had them replace our HVAC a few…read moreyears ago. They did not install the correct size return vent so our heater kept overheating. It would cycle on and off every few minutes and say it was heating when no air was moving. We literally had them come out 4 times before they found out what the issue one. The first 3 times they gaslit us and said that is was our Nest or a draft in an interior wall... I think they have only one good employee because the 4th guy to show up told us he liked to get paid for his overtime and would stick around until he got to the cause of the problem. Also when they finally "fixed" the return vent to a proper sized, they botched the install and had cracks in the ceiling and random screws sticking out in places. So they had to come back again to fix that mistake.

They sent Thomas out to take a look, he was very up front about the condition of the unit and advised that there was alot of issues, which we totally get. He was very thorough and took a lot of reference photos and explained what he was doing. We agreed to look at getting a new system and set up a meeting with Kyle for later the afternoon. Kyle was also amazing and went over the pricing and options, you never want to pay for a new AC unit but it's a necessity here so and they made sure we had a great deal. Well...it turns out it wasn't the unit. It was a plumbing issue and they still helped me pin point the issue - no charge. They texted me a you tube video so I could fix it. It's so hard to find companies you can trust, but Rey's has proven themselves. They are always giving back to the community as well. West Sac or surrounding area - just call Rey's first.

Hmmmm. They use expensive AC capacitors…read more I picked out Rey's Air because it has a 4.9 Yelp rating. You can't always judge Yelp's rating by its cover. Our AC went on the blink yesterday. It's less than ten years old and is used minimally. The unit's interior house fan and exterior AC fan remained working but the compressor failed to engage. The air was not being chilled. I'm old. 76. I know that capacitors commonly fail and I have had them replaced over the years. Rey' Air quoted $79 to take a look. What could go wrong. On the positive side Rey's Air arrived promptly the next day. On the negative side, after about a half hour of perusing, the tech said that he determined that I likely have a bad capacitor. He recommended replacing it, or even upgrading to a better capacitor unit (for $200 "more") When I asked what the 'regular' capacitor replacement would be, he said $285. I hesitated. I said that's a lot for a capacitor. (Home Depot sells them for as little as $10 to $20 for the part). He said everything is expensive or something to that effect. I said okay. Let's just get it done. I did not want to go through more torment with another AC outfit. I said let's just go with the "cheaper chicken". Then the tech began adding. He said okay. "So that's 285 plus 79 (the show up fee). That's $364! (for a $10 part). I think I said 'yikes'. That is an 'expensive capacitor'. After a couple of minutes the tech relented agreeing to "only charge me" $285 for the half hour of looking (and five minute replacing). Bottom line: Fair price for fair service is all we ask. I see some gouging here. I understand that there are times when changing a capacitor's price should go up. As when there are hazardous or miserable conditions including problematic accessibility, or with lengthy or repeated driving times. None of that applied. Short drive. Open and shady and cool work space. If Rey's were to have charged $180 or even $200 for the tech's 30 minutes attendance, that would have been fair and profitable. Two star rating is best I can do. .

He found an issue that had somehow been missed by another HVAC company that had been performing routine annual inspections on our system. He was courteous, respectful, informative, and very genuine throughout the entire visit. He explained what he was seeing in a way that was easy to understand, answered all of our questions, and made sure we were comfortable before doing any work. We never felt pressured or like we were being sold something we did not need. Alex clearly takes pride in his work and in making sure the customer understands what is happening. I used Yelp to put a blanket request for the Sacramento area, and Stress Free Auto reached out right away! I was able to take my car in first thing the next morning and was greeted in such a friendly and warm way. Knowing they had a few jobs ahead of me, they called a niiiice Lyft and made sure I got home free of charge! From there the communication was excellent. There were continual texts that provided information about their progress not only with searching for the main problem, but also a general overall inspection of my vehicle. Once complete they sent me an estimate, I called to coordinate which things I wanted repaired/addressed, and they sent over a finalized quote that I signed immediately. It was quick, informative, and quite literally stress free The main problem was a cracked exhaust manifold. Seems like an extensive repair, right? Well, they let me know later that afternoon that they were done! Amazing same day service! Absolutely incredible. It's been a month since the repair and I haven't had any issues. So, in my book, that's a job well done! The only small gripe I have is the cost. Again, it was same day service, so it's understandable that I might have paid more than I would have at another local shop, but they did offer a discount on the initial inspection cost. Some other shops roll the inspection cost into the cost of repairs, but unfortunately Stress Free doesn't do that. Plus, a couple of suggested repairs were somewhat of a laughable cost. If memory serves, they quoted me around $60 to replace wipers. I'm not sure if it was a quote for all 3, or just one, but I spent $15 on a wiper on the way home and installed it myself. Whatever, they are trying to make money! Despite my small price gripe, I will be using Stress Free in the future for any vehicle concerns I have!

The experience we had with A Five Star Heating & Cooling was life-changing. We have had 3 other companies look at our AC over the years, and the first two didn't mention any problems, even though we felt the house was too warm, they kind of chalked it up to our exposed ceilings lacking insulation. We had a company come out and fix a water leak, which they did, but we now wonder why they didn't notice anything else wrong with the AC, about a month before the failure. During this recent heatwave, our AC had enough and started short cycling, making noises, and it was not getting cool at all. I called one company to come out, and his assessment was the compressor was bad, and before he could test what else was wrong, it would have to be replaced. He also pushed the idea of a new system because it would come with a warranty. He couldn't tell if my unit was from 2013 or 2003, didn't give me much else to go on. I was quoted a pretty steep price, So I thought I would call around and try to get a second opinion. I called A Five Star Heating & Cooling and spoke to Mark about my unit. He was curious about the price I was quoted and looked up my system for me after I sent him a picture of the panel info (model number, serial, etc). From that picture, he was able to tell me more information than any other company that has worked on our AC. He agreed to come out and take a look, and before he would install the new compressor (gave me a better price), he would check to see if other issues would take care of the problem. It's a good thing we did it this way because it turns out the compressor was fine! Our fan motor was broken, and we had been leaking refrigerant for a while. We also had a few circuitry issues, and our coil was clogged. Mark took video and explained what he was doing every step of the way, and let me know how much each step would cost. He showed me the failing parts, and let me read every reading on his electronics. When it was all said and done, the bill was less than half of what the first company quoted me, and keep in mind that(other company's) technician said after the compressor installation he would check for other problems. So either he didn't notice any other problems when he was up there, which is kind of hard to believe, or he was waiting to add all these extra repairs after the new compressor install. I'm guessing the total bill would have been triple the amount I paid with A Five Star Heating & Cooling. My wife actually called the previous company and got our money back from their bad diagnostic check, Our house feels cool again, previously we had just accepted that two of our rooms would be too hot during the day, and there was nothing we could do about it. On triple-digit days we could not get the temperature into the 70's, now we can. Mark taught us a good deal about how to maintain the unit, as well as how everything works. I can't say enough good things about our experience. My family is extremely grateful we called Five star.and read more

As usual, Mark did a great job at getting my air conditioning unit working. My first dealing with him was back on June 2016, it was blistering hot outside and my air wasn't working. After having 2 major heating/air companies come to my house, only to tell me that I needed a new unit that would have probably set me back almost $10,000, i decided to have Mark come take a look at it. Within 5 minutes, he told me he could get it working. He also noticed I had a collapsed air duct in my attic, and he hadn't even went up there to check. I knew he was telling the truth, because I knew about it already. Within 15 minutes he had my unit blowing cold air. He fixed the duct, replaced the freon and everything including labor only cost me $600...way better than $10,000!!! Mark has since come back and replaced my whole air unit, which was under $2000, and i just had him come back last week to clear out a water hose. Never did I feel he was jerking me around. He is fast to respond to your call, quick to come by when possible, and fair and honest with his work and prices. I'm going to keep this simple. A 5 Star Company is a really outstanding business to work with and I'm glad I called them. I chose to call them for help fixing my Air Conditioner because of the outstanding customer service and attention to detail on the quote that was given. I knew right away I was going to use them to fix my system, They were so reassuring, and he really impressed me with this knowledge. Mark is a total pro, experienced, personable, and very helpful. He inspected my systems, confirmed the problem, and proactively identified other maintenance issues that I needed to keep an eye on. He wasn't pushy at all and took the time to explain what I needed to know to keep my system running smoothly (and to save me money in the long run). I'm a person who values quality work, good customer service, and professionalism...and Mark has all of that going for him and more. Came highly recommended by a friend and she was ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. Mark saved my hide when my AC stopped working during 100+ degree weather. He came out the next day (after I called him at 10 PM on a Sat night holiday weekend), was able to diagnose and fix my issue quickly and gave me instructions on how to care for it. He didn't upsell like the other company who came out and didn't even try to do basic troubleshooting before saying I just need to replace. I asked for a quote for a replacement system and based on his work (and a fantastic quote) I will be having him replace my whole system in the next month or two. I cannot recommend this company enough and fortunately or unfortunately for them, I will be a customer for life. To note: I know my AC is on its last legs and needs to be replaced. We had received a warning from our present, 11 year Heating & Air service, that our old unit had severe problems and we should consider replacing it right away. Their salesman came out and showed us the various new models that were available and quoted a price that shocked us. We immediately called for local HVAC dealers to give us quotes. After talking with three, we began to suspect the problems were'nt as serious as shown. We called A Five Star Heating & Cooling, and Mark Sanders came, and, after examinging our supposed "aging" unit, he sat back and said, "I don't see anything wrong with this unit!" He reviewed the claims of our long time service and showed us there were no issues that he could see. So, we immediately called our "old" service and told them to drop us as a client, and we've been happy to use Mark Sanders at A Five Star as our new service company. I have been working with Mark for almost 2 years.My hvac unit is 18 years old. I initially called a different company and was told I had to replace the whole unit. I called Mark with A Five Star and he was on the job within a few hours assessing what needed to be done. He walked me through the whole process and gave me a price right then and there. Hard to find people who treat customers correctly today. But with Mark at AFiveStar that's exactly what you get. Easy to contact and schedule, clear & precise communication of when, what and cost's. Courtesy call before coming to let you now he's on the way. He even got here sooner than expected( bonus). Took care of my old 30 year unit and it's performing like a champ again. I'd give these guys 10 stars if I could. My heating and air system was 26 years old so I've had many other companies out repairing it over the years. I knew my system was getting close to the end going into this season. Mark and his guys kept my system running for the last few years with minimal expense and impeccable service. This year ended up being the right time to replace the system. They installed the new system the same day as the service call to look at my old system. They were here until 9:30 p.m. working on things to make sure the job was done. They have prompt service whether it's to maintain your existing system or to install a new one. Mark did a great job servicing our AC. Super quick response, made an appointment for the next day (!), showed up on time, professional and funny to boot. Serviced our two units, found faulty condensers and added freon. We asked about adding additional ducting in our master bedroom, and when he quoted it he told us we could probably get it done for less! But we hired him anyway, he was that good and we trusted him. Second day on site went well, unexpected length for the new ducting. I offered to go get the materials for them if they'd stay to get the job done...which they did! I'm now loving my "chill" house so much that I may go get a sweater just to bask in all the cool air. Highly recommend Mark and will keep him on my go-to list! read more

They came out within 3 hours of my contacting them. Quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown capacitor which then overheated the blower motor (became too hot to even handle without gloves). They worked out a competitive quote for replacement on the spot with a 1 year warranty, installed the replacement parts, gave me the old parts, performed additional tests on the compressor, electrical circuits, and cooling fins. They also confirmed that the registers on the lower floor were getting the cool air as well. They were neat and courteous. All together, all that anyone could ask for. My AC unit went down while I was out of town. When I returned I called Five Star as they had helped me many years ago. They came out the same day and diagnosed my problem. They had to pick up parts which they did that night. They were back the next day to install and fix the issue. Great customer service and great communication on the issues, what needed to be done and timing of how long everything would take. Very respectful company and I highly recommend them to anyone that needs service. I'm back up and running and better than before. I have been using A Five Star for almost a year now and I have never been disappointed. We have 7 commercial heat pumps. Mark is always prompt and thorough in everything he does. Last summer I went out of town to Vegas for an event and of course, the one time I actually go out of town, my darn AC unit went out and my boyfriend was left stranded in the scolding hot house. It wast a hot afternoon, headed into an even hotter weekend and I was STRESSING because I had to leave Sunday afternoon for a work trip leaving my kids and our pets with my spouse in a house without AC! After getting the recommendation for Thomas and Sons from one of my good friends, I immediately called. I left a message, thinking all hope was lost based on how late is was on a Friday. Jim called me back in less than 5 minutes and was scheduling a time later that evening to stop by and take a look. I thought for sure we would need a new unit, but he said he would be back in the morning (SATURDAY!) and get us fixed up. Our unit is over 20 years old, and he never tried to upsell us. He just sacrificed his weekend to take care of my family and get cool air back in the house. I'm not surprised that the saint that came to our rescue was also just a really great guy! He walked us through how to clean/maintain the unit to get the last life out of it, and let my curious toddler watch him work. When the time comes, we will definitely use Thomas and Sons to replace our unit. Customer service like this is rare in today's society, and I can attest to the fact that all of the 5 star reviews are spot on!

Three Rivers called us back and made us feel confident in choosing them for the work. The service manager Alex arrived for our appointment, was personable, knowledgeable, identified the issue, and fixed our problem. Three Rivers came out and diagnosed the issue to be just that. They charged me $850 for replacing the dampening motor and $50 for replacing the condensation drain line. They originally wanted $980 for both repairs. I have had dampening motors replaced twice in the recent past for $608 and $344 respectively (including parts). The dampening motor itself is pretty cheap as I have bought one in the recent past for $21.74. I had little choice but to have them do the job since I would have had to pay them the $129 diagnostic fee which would cut into any potential savings from another company. I would not recommend them

But there are even more great qualities than this! 2025 in the spring we purchased a 2 mini split systems for our upstairs - it has a separate living area. An open area, 1 bedroom, and a full bathroom, and as you may know, the top floor gets the hot Sacramento County summer heat! We were so pleased with Absolute Comforts Heating and Air's outstanding service, installation, and Pricing that In the fall of 2025 we bought a central heat & air system from them for our downstairs. Their customer service & pricing far exceeded our expectations. Each experience has been OUTSTANDING! The office staff, field technicians, & owner wee wonderful to work with with. Now it is February 2026 and we have been using the systems for several months & love them! Like anything new we had a couple questions regarding the downstairs units ductwork & the fan speeds. I called hoping a technician could come look at it. I had been putting off the call because most companies would only provide phone answers or charge for a technician to come out. Absolute Comfort came at no charge! Some additional details of our experience is below. I am limited to my number of words so had to remove some paragraphs. From start to finish and top to bottom they are Wonderful!!!! The office staff, sales/ service technician & finishing with the installation technicians - they were all knowledgeable, personable, honest, straightforward and great at their jobs! In February 2026 I spoke to the office staff, Kristi and Theresa , a few times and they were knowledgeable, professional,, & friendly. I called the office in February and I asked my questions. She asked me to wait and I could hear her talk about scheduling times she came back on the phone & said let's have our technician Jim come out and she asked when I would be available, and gave me a 1 hour appointment window! Hence this new 5 of 5 star review! I am still in awe of this company! They are the best!! Awesome with communication too! The day of the appointment Theresa called me the morning to let me know Jim was snowed in (he lives in the high foothills and there was a cold rain storm the night before - rain here, snow at his place. She apologized and said they really wanted to come today and asked if I was available in the afternoon James the service technician could come from 2-4 . I said yes. I was already home from work for this appointment - so yes this afternoon is Great! In the afternoon James texted to see if he could come earlier at 1:30. Yes again! When he arrived we talked about the duct work questions we had, then he put down a tarp explained that his ladder was went from all the rain, and the tarp would also keep the floor clean from attic insulation and dust. He went up in the attic and thoroughly checked the ductwork, plus took photos. Then showed them to us when he explained his findings and answered our questions. Turned out the duct work was doing great & we felt much better seeing the pictures and hearing what was going on. We asked about the system fan speeds which he answered and showed us on the system wall control. All at no charge! This exceptional service Absolute Comfort provided is why I am writing this updated review. We are sharing our knowledge and experience that we feel Absolute Comfort Heating and Air is the HVAC business to use. That is why we bought both systems from them and highly recommend them for your heating and air needs too!
