I had a horrible experience with this company today. I personally have been in the service industry for over 20 year as a CCR and was blown away today by how I was spoke to by this companies representative. First issue - they scheduled an appointment without even contacting my husband or I to see if the time worked. When I was finally able to connect with someone from their team I was greeted with aggression, because I had legitimate questions. For example: I was repeatedly cut off, told they are so busy they don't personally communicate with any customers, which I find odd, when I asked that we schedule a different window, as my husband works nights and sleeps during the day - she got more upset and aggressively asked, "does your husband need to be home??" Well, no duh, you just told me we have to be home! Then I was yelled at and told "you chose to use a home warranty and not pay for this out of pocket so you have to follow our rules!" When all I did was try to understand how it worked with this company. Im a renter and would personally never use a home warranty. I know exactly how they operate!!! Cheapest repair and zero integrity. I've seen it for YEARS in my industry and can't imagine the HVAC side is any better. What boggles my mind the most is - people purchase home warranty's for issue like this. If you're going to bully and speak down to them for using them - I think you're in the wrong line of work. Technician came out and tells me there is no leak, says the systems works and just needs refringent. I called twice and no answer, finally they picked up. I get a lady who genuinely seems like she cared. Her customer service was great. she tells me that I will receive an estimate by the end of the day.... nothing... I text them to get an update and nothing..... finally get an estimate for 11k to replace the full system. Thomas tells me that the full system needs to be replaced and he does not know what his technician said. but there is a leak. train staff better. read more

This company got dispatched to us from our home warranty. First strange thing - they didn't even contact us to schedule an appointment. I just got an email saying when our appointment was scheduled. I couldn't do that day so contacted them and the soonest they could come was the next week. Weird that they didn't try to contact us to schedule, but whatever not a big deal. The day of the appointment comes, I got 2 missed calls and a text saying the guy was on his way and would be there in 30 minutes. I responded about 20ish minutes later asking him to call my husband number instead of knocking because our daughter was asleep. Then he says because I didn't confirm he moved on to his next appointment. Our apologies but you'll have to contact the company to reschedule. When nobody mentioned to me at any point that I would have to confirm in order for them to not cancel our appointment. I'm a small business owner and took the day off to be there. We have a 1 year old child and our heater has been broken for over a week. All I needed was proper communication so I knew to confirm when all he said was he is on his way, so I didn't think I needed to say anything. I tried to explain this to them and they apologized, but didn't seem to truly care/understand why I was frustrated (not saying they didn't care, just my opinion). We are in wheatland so I completely understand it's a far drive and they don't want to not get paid if I wasn't home. They offered an appointment for the next day which I couldn't do because of work. And they were booked out for the days after that. I kept asking for someone to make it out today (day of scheduled appointment) and they couldn't do it. Not their fault they are booked, but I just hoped that since they canceled on us that maybe someone could come out at the end of the day. Just a note to anyone out there scheduling - make sure you are by your phone constantly during your appointment time frame so that when they text/call you saying they're on their way - let them know you are home even if they don't ask for confirmation if you don't want them to cancel your appointment. UPDATE: now they are threatening their attorney for leaving this review. I was trying to be as nice as possible but now I feel like that was a slap in the face instead of genuinely apologizing and not blaming me because I didn't confirm the appointment - so I changed from 2 stars to 1 star. I highly recommend just taking some business education classes and learning more on communication within your business. That's my main point of feedback. Plus how you respond to people and negative reviews says a lot about a business. Not going straight to threatening with a lawyer when I didn't do anything but share my experience. This person is super unprofessional and I will be reaching out to our home warranty, BBB, and News Media. We attached the txt messages that we attached to clearly show we are not changing anything that was said. They canceled our appointment and mentioned they cannot get anyone out until tomorrow. We are not available tomorrow as my wife took work off today for this appointment. I was going to be able to be here to see the technician and help for a few minutes before I had to head to work. My wife is a small business owner and took the day off to be here. This company is leaving us in this cold temperature without a heater again. We have a baby this is unacceptable. Our heater has been broken for over a week. All we needed was proper communication so we knew to confirm when all he said was he is on his way, so she didn't think she needed to say respond at it was sharing an ETA. She tried to explain this to technician and the technician apologized (sorry not sorry type of apology) and mentioned nothing they can do about it and to call their office. I called their office and no call back. But they responded quickly to my wife's text to that number. This company truly doesn't care and their professionalism showed by how they handle the entire interaction. If they're so concerned on waisting their time to come to appointments where no one is home. Do better confirming appointments the day before and let the customer/client know this when scheduling their appointment. If the customer/client knew beforehand then that would be on them but lack of communication is lack on your company. When they mentioned they went to their next appointment, that means they can come back to us to do the job. They just clearly don't want to. Just a note to anyone out there who gets this company by their home warranty or contacts this company. If you have an appointment with this company, on the day of the appointment make sure to have the ringer/phone with you so that you can respond to their eta txt/call as they wanting confirmation before coming that you're home. If they don't get a response from you, they will cancel it and have you reschedule with their office. Even if they don't ask for confirmation through txt just give a response saying ok or see you soon. I lost trust in this company with their lack of empathy and professionalism. Do not do business with people/Company that are trustworthy and do questionable workmanship. This company was called out to my home by the home warranty company to fix a simple air-conditioning problem. Not only did they not fix the problem, I live in a community called Lake of the Pines in Auburn, (LOP,) and they have very strict speeding laws. Technician, which was the company's owners father received a very expensive ticket and refused to pay it. This ordeal went on for 3 months, I had to finally go to the board and asked them to be removed from the LOP vendor list so they were no longer allowed in LOP. They decided to pay it, and I have not heard from him since. 2 years of gone by now. My heaters not working. They made an appointment. I waited for four days. They canceled at the last minute, saying they can come to my house anymore. To me this is unacceptable behavior for a business. It is up to you as a consumer you want unprofessional workmanship and questionable people at your home this the decision you are making when you hire this company. read more

We had an extremely frustrating experience with Energy Experts Heating and Air through our home warranty provider. Our heater stopped working due to a thermostat issue, and from the start, their service was unprofessional and poorly handled. First, they never scheduled appointments properly. Instead of confirming a time with us, they simply texted the day before their first visit, and then gave just one hour's notice before the second visit. Completely unacceptable and inconsiderate. We politely asked if a digital thermostat could be installed instead of another manual one (which costs about $20), and the technician said he would check with the insurance company and get back to us. Then we heard nothing. Days passed, and then a week. We called our home warranty provider twice. We left a voicemail with Energy Experts. No response. Finally, without confirming anything with us, they called and said they'd be arriving in an hour. They showed up with a third-party manual thermostat--exactly what we said we didn't want--and installed it anyway, despite our objections. Throughout the entire process, they were rude, uncooperative, and showed no interest in helping us or communicating properly. This was by far one of the worst customer service experiences we've had. We do not recommend Energy Experts Heating and Air to anyone looking for reliable or respectful service. read more

We were referred to Energy Experts Inc by my home warranty services. Thomas was very quick to set up an appointment for the assessment of my AC unit. Upon a thorough inspection of the AC unit and the Heat Pump, he found out all the problems in both the AC unit and the Furnace which was not letting the house cool down below 78 degrees. Upon approval of the work order, Brian and Ryan provided a very professional and exceptional customer service and took care of the additional problem of cleaning the furnace with genuine kindness. 10/15/2020: In April I contacted Energy Expert to take a look at my AC unit, which had just stopped working. Thomas stopped by and reported that everything looked great, but since the unit was empty of refrigerant, there was obviously a leak. He suggested putting in a sealant. Another crew had looked at my unit before and suggested using a dye and inspect it two weeks later. Of course, Energy Experts' solution was more appealing than having to wait for two weeks, so I summarized their words in writing (via yelp), which included: 1. $643 to put in the sealant and refill 11 lbs of refrigerant 2. The fix would last 3-4 years 3. 6-month warranty on the labor I asked for confirmation and after getting it, I agreed to the fix. Well, none of those terms held up. All was good until the beginning of July (just 2.5 months later), when I called them and they said, "sorry, we are low on staff, one of us has coronavirus and we can't get to you until 2+ weeks from now." I can totally understand the first part (short on staff because of illness), but given the circumstances (100F), I would hope they would have offered to send someone else and cover the visit. But no, after several conversations pleading not to leave us under the scorching heat, they would not help and if I wanted them to take a look, I would need to wait the 2+ weeks. As a result, I had to call another company, who took care of the problem. They told me that they would not have done that fix at all, but if they had even suggested it, they would have warned me that it may not last. The proper fix (isolate the different components to find the actual problem and, ultimately, replace the coil with a new one) cost me $1K. In sum, I find myself with a 64.3% overpay, a fix that last 10 weeks (not 3-4 years) and, to add insult to injury, I found out that my unit didn't hold 11 lbs of refrigerant but only 6.75. 10/17/2020: Update after seeing the response from Thomas. I do live in the Bay Area. I did not refuse to meet with him, it was simply unnecessary. My tenants are like family to me, so I trust them for everything. His response to not being a Ruud dealer came after he had performed the repair because I started reading online that the dye/sealant was frown upon by manufacturers and I feared it would void the warranty on the part. Thomas avoided to respond whether the fix he put in could invalidate my warranty. Regarding the rest, the evidence speaks for itself--I make sure I always send a detailed summary of a repair to be confirmed before I approve the job, and this is the one I sent to Thomas and he confirmed: "To summarize what I heard from you and make sure I have it all correct: The unit looks good and you don't see any major leak, but obviously there is some sort of leak. Your recommendation is to put EZ seal which is a dye that also seals ($236). The refrigerant (R410A) costs $37/lb and since the unit needs 11 lbs, it would make a total of $643. There is a 6-month warranty on the job and you expect it to properly fix the unit for 3-4 years. We would need to wait a day or two to do this kind of work because the outside temperature needs to be at least 75F. Did I get it all right? Did I miss anything?" The attached pictures show all the words exchanged. No more, no less. And it is via yelp, so it is really hard to negate it. I don't have anything bad about the staff, as they were never allowed to start or complete installing a new heating/air conditioning system at my residence, but the owner is the worst. Brian is a liar, con-man, and if he is dealing with a home warranty company...... he will do his best to try to milk the insurance and consumer for more money to do a simple job. He will lie about the insurance company being late on providing the replacement products, even though I have email and receipts stating they are awaiting pick up. What he is really doing is pushing people using a home warranty/insurance provider further down the schedule as per his words, he doesn't make a lot of money, and rather work with regular customers. He has pretty much wasted 2 months, in the middle of summer, while myself and the company could have used another contractor to replace my system. Fidelity has assured me they will not use him in the Rancho Murieta or surrounding Sacramento areas as they have gotten several complaints. Do yourself a favor and find a better company. I have documented all communication and will be providing a full report to the BBB to save consumers from this fraud. To add to my complaint Thomas, I offered Brian 3 different Handyman or sub-contractors to handle his issue of the opening to my attic, on top of the money already alotted as of my out of pocket cost. fidelity has done everything they said they would, and my anger is only with Brian. Our heater stopped working over the weekend. Thomas one of the owners called me same day we turned in our home warranty claim and set up an appointment for Monday morning. Brian the technician shown promptly and was very polite. He found the problem after just a couple minutes (maybe ten) of troubleshooting. Arrived professionally (face masked and gloves d/t Covid-19) and handed me a business card right away. Listened to exactly what my issues and concerns were, but waited until he was invited in to my home which was nice, he wasn't pushy to get the work going. Had boot/shoe covers at the ready when going inside. When he found the issue, he had detailed explanation of what was going wrong and what he did to fix it. There were a little complication with the sizing of my old coil unit because they are discontinued and Thomas and Brian went above and beyond and were able to make it work with the sizing of the new unit. So glad I called this place. The AC in home we had just moved into decided to quit in 100+ degree temperatures. It was miserable! Called Energy Experts and they were able to come out the next day (another outfit said they were booking well into July - EEK!). With an almost 20 year old house, I was concerned we might have a very expensive repair. But he quickly figured out that the unit was FINE! However, someone had turned off the breaker - likely one of the contractors guys as we had done some remodeling. WHEW! Only had to pay for a service call! I will always call Energy Experts with any heating or air conditioning issues. He could have told me I needed a whole new unit and I probably would have done it. We called our warranty company (Fidelity Home Warr) and they replied in 24 hours for an emergency work order with Energy Experts. A/C started malfunctioning after -20 years at peak of recent heat wave. Needed someone out fast. Energy Experts responded super fast to ensure I could keep limping along. Had a follow up visit during which a relatively inexpensive part was eventually diagnosed to be failing. Quick repair on the spot (they had parts in the van) and unit was completely repaired.
