Great golf courses and condos, but far from a resort. No amenities. Not even a swimming pool. The club house had nice options for breakfast, lunch, and early dinner as well as drinks. I'd recommend, but know you are only getting condos and golf. read more

We visited A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort on 09/21/23 to play the Torch. After we had registered, we were approached by a resort employee named Tom. He was concerned that our start time was going to be significantly delayed due to an outing. Tom said that he and Mike would like to offer us the opportunity to play the Sundance course so that we would not be delayed. Both my wife and I were very impressed with their desire to make sure our visit was a very positive one. The course layout was spectacular, and it was in immaculate shape. We thoroughly enjoyed the Sundance course, and we will make sure to let all of our golfing friends know that the A-Ga-Ming Resort is one they need to put at the top of their list to visit. Thank you again Tom and Mike for making our first visit a wonderful experience. read more

Love this course , we play this every time we come north, good value. Fairways and greens are maintained very well.

The course allowed a wedding party ahead of us to play as six and five. They were playing a scramble but extremely slow. We complained and they broke up the groups. The starter said "I told them we'll see how it goes." I guess that was our job as we had to call the clubhouse. It took a few holes to begin to move but still too slow. The party exited the course at the ninth and we had a completely open back nine as it took three hours to complete nine. To add insult to injury, we were on the 16th hole when a Ranger drives up and tells us to pick up the pace as others were understandably complaining of the slow round. We were all shooting in the 80's & 90's and were not holding the group behind us. Apparently they do not manage play, they wait for complaints. Obviously they should have understood their decision to allow a large group of inexperienced golfers playing as five and six had backed the entire course up. When we went to the clubhouse (trailer), we let the pro know as a courtesy so that in the future he would be aware of what happened and could correct it with the Marshal and Starter. When we told him there were groups playing as five and six, which we witnessed in front of us while waiting, he disputed it and said there were no groups of five an six; Very arrogant attitude. The course is priced in the $90 range for weekends. You would expect a premium, professionally managed operation. It is managed like a $50 discount course. They are not customer focused. I seem to be annoyed to have to deal with customers. The Sundance course is a nice course we have played for years, as a group of eight, for our annual tournament. We would like to continue but will not out of principle. The management made a mistake but defended their action without apology. Such disrespect cannot be tolerated. read more

Very poor management. We will not go back! Had 1:20 tee time, arrived 1:00pm and we're told " Too backed up, sorry". Drove 2 hours round trip, waisted the afternoon. No rangers, loads of 5 "somes" & hours of delays. Never going back!!!!!!! read more

The Sundance Course is spectacular with a highlands feel, well-bunkered fairways and greens and is very well-kept. We loved the course. Unfortunately, it took us 5 1/2 hours to play because the greedy owner stuck us in the middle of an 88-player scramble. If he had done the right thing and told us in advance, we could have opted to play the Torch Course. I will never go back. There are plenty of good, challenging courses in northern Michigan. read more

The first day we played the Sundance course. It was a "links" style course with few trees and high grass between fairways. There were some very long holes, like the 450 yard par 4 18th, and several holes with large elevation changes. The large greens were fast and you had to read the breaks carefully. Lots of sand, although quite a few of them were full of unraked footsteps. There were 5 sets of tees available; they were in good shape. Overall a challenging course with lots of great holes. We stayed overnight on the property, and this is where they lose points! They have buildings with about 8 rooms each. Some were larger, while ours was small. 2 double beds, so hard to share one. There was a fridge and coffee maker, but only 1 mug provided, and no cups. No blow drier. No kleenex. And the Internet was spotty; sometimes it worked, sometimes no data. Lodging would get 2 stars only. The second day we played the Torch course. It had a totally different character going up and down hills with lots of water and trees. 4 sets of tees were available, but some were a little chewed up. Greens were slower than Sundance as well. A very challenging course, in a different way. Not as long, but very demanding on accuracy. Summary: golf 4.5 stars, lodging 2.5 stars, so 4 stars overall. read more

Came up played on July 2nd & 3rd. Front desk helpful allowed early check in. Condo was clean simple, well stocked including morning coffee. Ours had a great view of torch lake and gas grill for cooking. Torch course ok not our favorite. Sundance fun well groomed. 18 good golf holes Jerry Matthews design well done. Dining choices very limited led to believe a dinner menu only sandwiches and burgers ok for lunch did not try breakfast. Too bad no pool on property. Staff all over was friendly. For the price average value but tremendous views of Torch Lake. read more

We played the Sundance course today. The course was very well maintained. Just don't go if you have anything else you wanted to do that day. Speed of course was EXTREMELY SLOW. 18 holes took over 5 hours. I golfed on a random Thursday morning. No reason for the pro shop to take that many reservations. Been visiting since the 70's. Like Sundance layout not too difficult. Torch is older layout. Watch out for some elderly lady (maybe an owner) with a small dog. Stared down the Wife when we walked in, complained to pro about ranger talking too much then when leaving stopped to see what we were doing. A Mrs Kravitz crank. read more

Very unsanitary! Went in for lunch with my wife to check out the course. My ice had grass In it, burger was below average. I blame the poor quality of the restaurant/bar on the awful management. From what I saw the older male management had 2 young girls cooking, serving, bussing tables, doing dishes, and even cleaning the men's bathroom. Disgusting. You can clean the men's bathroom yourself buddy! read more

This golf course is great we ended up having a guys weekend up north at my friends cabin and we drove 40 min from bellaire to here and the views of torch lake are stunning. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I wish the Torch golf course got more views of torch lake. Also the staff are great people and very friendly that always makes a big difference. Props to the gentlemen that let my friend and I get a free golf cart even though we offered to pay that was nice of him to do. read more

My family stayed here for my nephews wedding. It was beautiful!!! We stayed in a great cabin located right on the golf course. It had 3 bedrooms and 3 baths and all the comforts of home. There was plenty of room for 8 people (there was 5 of us). The kids went right out back and hit balls. I will defiantly go back! read more

Great course! The pro shop is in a trailer but that's common. The course is fantastic. There are also two other courses at this location that are also just as good. We usually go here in the fall for fall rates. $25 for 18 holes and a cart? Who can beat that? read more

Visited 8-11 thru 8-13-15, was a great value, we had a golf package, lodging and golf. Was way above expectations. Owner Mike was helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and a great view of the Torch number 8 green with Torch lake in the background. The golf was perfect, played the Torch the first day, nice, but the real deal was the Sundance. Played it Wednesday and Thursday, A+++ rating there. The pro shop help was great, Mike (Assistant pro) and Preston. Will be back next summer for sure. Well it's next summer already, heading up Monday 8/15, can't wait read more

I'm not sure how the golf courses are, so this review is for the rooms only. We booked a one bedroom jacuzzi suite and were very disappointed with what we actually received. Upon arrival, we were told that the description that was posted on hotels.com was inaccurate and they do not have one bedroom jacuzzi suites. We were then offered an "upgrade" to a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen. Once we got to the suite we were very disappointed. There was a filthy chair, missing blinds in the living room so we had no privacy at night, dead bugs on the floor and live bugs on the ceiling. We could access the room next to ours (it only had a flimsy sliding lock) and saw that the main door to get into that room was missing the doorknob. The mattress was the worst that I've ever tried sleeping on in my life and actually felt like a box spring. The front desk closes at dark so there was nothing we could do except stay there for the night. When we went to the front desk the following morning, we were offered what we originally paid for - a one bedroom jacuzzi suite. When we told the person at the front desk all of our issues he actually said "oh yeah that room has blinds issues," and not once did he apologize. We ended up getting a refund and finding a chain hotel that was actually much nicer. read more

I visited with my family. We arrived at the room and found one of the rooms' ceilings covered in bugs. We then played 9 the next day at a fast pace..15 minutes a hole. The starter kept coming out to the course and telling us to let groups play through! We were playing a scramble! Poor customer service. Such a bad experience. We did not stay our second night as planned. read more

A-Ga-Ming is a nice golf course but the management of this course (we played Sundance) is terrible. We had a group of 9 golfers yesterday and we all shared the same complaint (as a group we spent about $600.00 at the course). The course was terribly mismanaged resulting in a 6 hour round of golf. The group of us was very slow (they were two holes behind after 3 holes and by the time we got to the 6th hole our round was already at the 2 hour mark. We called the clubhouse and asked them to stop out and talk to the group. It did no good. We even stopped for 10 minutes or so at the clubhouse at the turn hoping the group would have moved along, but they had not even teed off at this time (They were not in the clubhouse as we were the only ones there). The back 9 was just as painful and it took us 6 hours to complete the round (the group in front of us bailed and did not play all 18 holes), but we caught up to two groups ahead of them on the 16th hole. We get together for a guys weekend every year and will never be back to this course. read more

Scenery is beautiful! This location seems like it would be perfect for a wedding! Think again. The only reason the wedding was so perfect was because of the families of the bride and groom. I was a guest at a wedding here over Labor Day weekend 2015. We stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bathroom cabin on the golf course. So spacious, updated, and plenty of room for the 6 people who stayed there. Due to the wedding and holiday weekend, there was an option to stay for a third night, free. We jumped on that, or so we thought. On the Sunday after the wedding we were out on the lake and got a phone call saying we needed to come back and vacate the cabin because there was a family waiting to check in. The staff refused to acknowledge that we were staying the third night and did not wait for us to return to empty out. They threw clothes and jewelry (an engagement ring) into bags and stored them in someone's car. We were told we could get golf carts to use to get around the resort, when we went to reserve them, we were told no. We asked for more towels and waited a few hours for those to be delivered. It was very rare that we encountered a polite staff member. Months after the wedding the birdes family found out about our troubles as well as other guests. After numerous phone calls to the resort, the owner agreed to give us three free nights with golf and similar accommodations. I emailed with him a few times, he stopped answering me when I tried to confirm the details. We traveled 12 hours round trip for the wedding. read more
