I was fortunate to find this place after a boulder jumped under my car and I was stranded in East Jordan for 4 days. Big shout out to the Joe's for helping me out. My room and the bathroom were clean and my bed was comfy. Joe picked me up from a horrible hotel I was at in the first place and kept me safe. My friend and I booked to stay here last minute for a weekend in Charlevoix for our friend's wedding. This family owned inn was the best place and we are so happy we found it. First off, they don't rip you off with insane pricing for the area it's located, greatly appreciated. Second, they offered to help out any way possible whether to cook us breakfast, make recommendations, etc. Kayla (one of the girls that works there) also offered to drive us to and from the wedding venue which was to them a normal gesture but for us was pleasantly surprising. A charming getaway. Our family was here to celebrate Father's Day and we had a wonderful weekend.

My husband and I got married at the Jordan Inn 9-21-19. Mary Jane and Joe could not have been more accommodating. The setting was just right, the food was outstanding and the price was incredible. Perfect one stop shop...indoor/outdoor venue with the sweetest, most gracious hostess; an accomplished chef that will help plan and then prepare the perfect meal; fully stocked bar. My wife and I stayed here from July 14, 2017 - July16, 2017. When we showed up a few hours ahead of schedule, the owner Jane set us up in our room and then gave us a number of excellent recommendations for local beaches. The room was very clean, the home which had to have been built in the 1800s, was in great shape. Breakfast was delicious and the owner went out of her way to make us feel like we were right at home. In the past we've had some decent home cooking here. We like to support the local business in East Jordan, but sometimes you have to let a place go. We were one of only two tables this morning, and it started with the fact that hostess/waitress didn't have any black tea. Then, despite that i asked repeatedly, she couldn't get the water hot enough to steep properly. The coffee was simply awful, and also cold. When our food finally came out, an hour later, I had canned salmon on my eggs Benedict (she had told me there might be "a piece of salmon left over from last night"). The muffin was cold and grainy, there wasn't hardly any hollandaise sauce on it - but that was a good thing. The bacon was a rock-hard lump of brown salt. Everything we had was far below average quality, and it was cold. We couldn't eat it, but when we offered to pay, the chef declined payment - and he was rude bout it. I've only given this place one star, because zero stars is not an option. :( read more

Love this place. The owner is wonderful. It is two old homes put together making it very unique. There are antiques in every room that are great to explore. The wooden bar area is great a place to have a drink and visit with other guests. The breakfast area has linen table clothes and napkins with fantastic homemade food. Have stayed in two different rooms and found the beds very comfortable. The owner and staff are so accommodating and go the extra the extra mile every day for their customers. read more

Yikes. Stayed here two nights and .... wow. There was some party going on the first night and the owner might of been part of it. The next morning he was seen sleeping in the dining room. He got up and went upstairs to sleep. He got up late and so breakfast was being served about 9 or 10. The pancakes were good when they came, but the bacon and eggs were pretty greasy. The second day we didn't stick around for breakfast - we had places we needed to go. A pretty messed up experience, to be honest. read more

My girlfriend Kristy and I stayed at the Jordan Inn (bed & breakfast) from Thursday Aug. 11 - Sunday Aug. 14, 2016. We actually showed up before check-in time but Jane (the proprietor) was very accommodating. We stayed in one of the 'suites' which was a room with an attached bathroom. I believe she has 3 of these and maybe 4 or 5 rooms that use a shared bathroom. I know there were at least 4 bathrooms available for the shared rooms, so I don't think there would have been any problem getting into one at any time. All of the rooms appeared to be on the second floor with the exception of the nautical room (a suite) which is on the first floor. The room itself was nice. Kristy and I stayed in the golf room which is right at the top of the stairs. The bed was extremely comfortable and I believe we both slept longer than we typically do at home because of it. Or, it could have been just the way Jane welcomes you and makes you feel so warm and cozy. It felt more like staying at moms house than staying at a hotel or even another bed and breakfast; that's how she made you feel. Jane was very flexible with breakfast, asking when we wanted it served the next morning. First off, she would put out coffee upstairs early so if the guests woke they would have it immediately available and wouldn't have to go downstairs for a cup. Her breakfast was very good every morning! Friday morning we had yogurt and a sausage, egg and potato quiche which had a delicious perfectly cooked crust. Saturday was fruit plate and bacon, eggs & biscuits. Sunday was Monte Cristo sandwiches with a special dipping sauce that she made that somewhat resembled apple butter but was so much better! The reason for the sandwiches was because she knew we wanted to get on the road Sunday morning so she wanted us to have something that was quick. She is very thoughtful. Jane made sure you didn't walk away hungry and if you did, it was your own fault. She even gave us a sandwich to take on the road with us! We will definitely be staying there again next time we are up in the area! read more

This was one of the strangest dining experiences I have ever had. I would never go back, but I am happy I went because I have story to regale people with for the rest of my life. Note: I only dined there, so I cannot speak about the hotel aspects of the place. I made reservations, which were unnecessary since my guest and I were the only people in the entire place. It is strange to sit alone in a huge dining room, with 12 other tables, completely set, waiting for people. We were there about 2 hours and no one ever did. After being seated, the chef came to the table to "explain" the Jordan Inn dining experience. They have no menu, instead they cook what you want--if they have it. Okay. The chef said he had some fish, chicken breasts, and delicious beef filets that he himself butchered. We order the the filets. The chef indicated that the first course would be a salad, then would come a soup course, then entree and finally dessert. He announced these courses, we didn't get to yeah or nay them or parry for something else. Need I say we never heard a price for anything during this interlude. After we ordered the waitress took our drink orders. They have a very limited selection of good liquor--for instance their premium vodka is Sevdka. But cheap liquor is better than no liquor for an experience like this. We were heartened when we received the first course, a salad. I admit the salad was stupendous. A sweet and sour combination of onions, apples, cherries, and greens. In the end, the salad was the cruel highlight of the meal. Cruel because it raised a glimmer of hope that the dinner would not be the disaster we all sensed. Oh god, if we had only stopped with the salad! But we didn't . The second course was soup. We were advised that the chef's homemade cream of cabbage soup was well known and loved. To me, it tasted like warm water that cabbage had been cooked in. While it was creamy looking, it was thin and almost tasteless. To put a good spin on it: tastelessness is better than tasting vile. I can say with assurance, it did not taste vile. Following the soup, we were served the chef's specially butchered filet Mignon. Well, I think he meant he butchered the sole of a leather shoe, because that is what mine looked a tasted like. the filet was rectangular and very tough. It had almost no taste. I ended up hiding large portions of it in the mashed potatoes so it wouldn't look so obvious that I ate little of this specially butchered meal. I haven't had a steak like that since Salisbury steak day at the high school cafeteria. That is not a compliment. After the steak, came the dessert round. We received a quarter inch slice of Eli's chocolate cheesecake drizzled with Hershey's chocolate sauce. Given the size of our slices, I would guess the Jordan Inn was able to serve about 100 diners from a standard 10 inch cheesecake. After our dessert plates were taken, we awaited the bill. Remember, we had never seen a menu or been quoted a price. By the time dinner was over, I was philosophical about the whole thing no matter what it might cost. It was an experience that I could bore my friends with for years to come. Finally, the bill arrived--$70 for 2, including liquor. This would have been exceedingly cheap if the meal had been worthwhile. As it was, it seemed very expensive for a good salad. I am not even going to talk about the fairly decrepit status of the building, because its an old place and maybe water stains and peeling wall paper are your thing. read more

Not a big reviewer but owner operator was very nice place is over 100 years old, place was clean, and charming. Our breakfast was nothing "special" eggs toast bacon potatoes muffin fruit oj coffee toast and if you were still hungry she would give you more. Very informal kinda like staying at moms without the judgement or uncomfortable questions. I will stay here again. read more
