There is never a cover-charge for music which is nice. The music is also extremely varied depending on the night so you are sure to find something you like. It is nice to hear such awesome local musical talents! You always meet wonderful and friendly people and can really appreciate the feeling of being in a small intimate cafe. They generally will pass around a money box with donations that go towards the artists since they aren't paid-nice to contribute if you can! There is a book section, a perfume and lotion section, kids toys, and plentyof NYBG merchandise. You can buy bulbs and seeds inside the shop. The live plant section has winter bushes and holiday arrangements. Staff has always been friendly and helpful when I've had questions. Most items are priced on the higher side, but there are affordable trinkets if you're looking for souvenirs. This evening they had stations outside of the shop for hot chocolate and cookie decorating. On the other side of the park they have the Holiday Train Show. It's a beautiful time for a visit.

They have a large selection of plants, planters, gardening equipment, and plant themed art and items. Most things are high quality and genuinely nice - as opposed to a bunch of stress balls and mugs stamped with the NYBG logo. There was also a large book selection, mostly with art books and plant books. They also had themed office supplies, journals, candles, and a little bit of apparel. We visited NYBG for the Yayoi Kusama exhibition, and they had a section of the store specifically for Kusama items. They had a great Kusama book collection, along with other limited edition / moderately priced souvenirs. I wish they had a little more selection with the Kusama swag, but I was happy to get some polka dot socks and t shirt. Iva, the studio owner, has created a really warm and inviting community at Supermud - full of interesting and talented people. Supermud has been a place for me to relax and make something with my hands instead of staring at a screen all day. I really cannot recommend it highly enough for adults and children.

The owner Pumpkin greets you like you are part of her family. She is probably the most welcoming owner that I have ever met. As the space is small, the book selection is also pretty small (Black story focus both nonfiction and fiction). However, you can order books through Nefer's Bookshop.org link and still support them. Drink selection, especially the coffee is GREAT! And Pumpkin can make custom orders too. I hope this business continues to grow and thrive.
