While waiting, I sipped on a Cinnamon Maple Latte, which was bold and strong, as well as heavy on the cinnamon, but could have used more maple and sweetness. My friend and I shared the Bread and Cornbread Basket, served warm with raspberry preserve jam and butter. The Bread was perfectly baked, fluffy, and well seasoned. Cornbread was glazed, giving it a slightly sweet taste, as well as crumbly in a good way. The butter made the breads richer, while the raspberry jam added a nice layer of flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, adding Truffle Fries, which were an additional $5. This also came with a small side salad topped with radishes. The Steak was tender, wonderfully juicy, and flavorful. Eggs were cooked over hard, just how I like them and made expertly. Truffle fries had a generous sprinkling of Parmesan and were delightfully crispy, with strong truffle yumminess. Salad gave a fresh element to the dish. Service was lovely. After a few minutes, the hostess/bartender came up to us and, while bringing us to the table, abruptly dropped the menus on the tables and walked away. Nothing was ever said on her part, not even her name. This was just one of many incidents that happened with her throughout the night.  Her customer service was awful with every encounter. She was always short and had a tone. I ordered the mushroom and waffle plate which arrived cold and tasted as if something in it was spoiled. After telling her that I did not want this plate, she grabbed my food and again just walked away without a word. She then returns to our table to say that she tasted my plate and that is how it is supposed to taste. I found this to be extremely disrespectful and rude on her part.  Towards the end of this awful experience our hostess/bartender changes her shift with a different waitress and no one ever communicates this to us. At this point, we are ready to leave as soon as possible. When we finally received our check, there was a 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill of only three guests. Again, this vital detail was never communicated with us. I mention the detail that we were the only party that was of color - I'm  unsure if that had something to do with it. Most were unpaved. We managed fine with a stroller, but the paths were a bit rocky. To see several sections, you need to climb stairs so a stroller was not the most convenient. The view of the Hudson, from both the upper and lower terraces, is wonderful and great for taking pictures. It was spring so they had tulips in bloom. I typically grab Dunkin Donuts on a daily but it's just something about that diner style coffee in that old school but traditional white mug. It was so good. I opted for a a western omelette with turkey and Lo AND BEHOLD, they put real cut up/chunked up pieces of turkey in my omelette too. The diner was packed on a crisp Saturday morning and the service was great. Miss these type mornings.
