I AM NOT BEING DRAMATIC WHEN I SAY THIS STICKY BUN CHANGED MY LIFE. Okay, maybe just a LITTLE dramatic, but my god - it is GOOD. I drove nearly an hour round trip for this (thank you, pregnancy cravings) after seeing that this place has a highly acclaimed cinnamon bun, but when I walked in, the pecan sticky bun stole my heart. It is gooey, warm, and behind it's light and flaky crust, the vanilla cream cheese frosting gets in between the soft layers pretending to be a mozzarella stick with cinnamon goodness "cheese" pulls that will make your mouth water. The vanilla cream cheese frosting is to die for. Their savory pastries are all made in house. They have gone through a few different versions from their take on the savory toaster strudel to roasted veggie croissants, but they always stand out for their quality and use of fresh ingredients. Little bakery tucked in between a vet and a hotel, seems to have a pretty big variety of desserts for pretty much anyone with a sweet tooth. This tiny counter service shop has no indoor seating as it devotes its spare square footage to on-site baking and displaying its wares. I came in for the cinnamon roll which is only available on the weekends starting from Friday. There are a lot of tiny squares of sheet tray bakes, cakes in a cup, and cookies but only 3 savory filled croissants. Not having a giant sweet tooth, I picked the spinach and cheese croissant, a mixed berry cream cheese turnover and a cinnamon roll and a hot Earl Grey tea. The service is exuberantly friendly and helpful. The clerk asked me if I was planning on eating any of the pastries right away. She heated up the cinnamon roll and croissant for me and upgraded my hot tea to a big cup when I told her I liked a lot of very hot water in my tea. A weird thing was she mentioned she doesn't like eating the spinach pastry but her coworker in the back has one for breakfast every day. Having had the pastry, I'm siding with her. I don't know how much turnover this little shop gets but the pastry was tough and tasted at least a couple days old. Flavor seemed dim. I had to look at it to remember what flavor it was supposed to be. The cinnamon roll was tasty with a gooey center and unctuous icing. I knew that they only make them for the weekend so I was reasonably sure it was fresh. I didn't buy the turnover for myself so I hope that tastes fresher than the croissant. All in all, if I were to come back, it would only be for the weekend cinnamon rolls and super friendly service. Prices seem high as a tiny 2-inch square cut of bar cookie running you $3. The cinnamon roll was $4 which seemed on the high side. I've read the other reviews about the flaky responses customers looking to place custom orders for cakes and special event desserts.
