Been going here for a long time. Never had a problem until I did and then mentioned it !!! Last order I had made the order online they had left out a topping I requested. This time I went inside to order personally and after mentioning that the last order was made incorrectly they were bound to make it correctly this time. Right? As the whispers went on behind the counter to find out the ingredient were all there this time, except they purposely Used the driest pieces of the bread for my sandwich. $11 sandwich on dry bread. ******So nice of the workers in the back to play games. And it wasn't like they were running low on that type of bread I saw an entire loaf sitting there! Really sad and disappointing! read more

OMG!!! What a hidden gem in Costa Mesa. All my friends kept recommending I come here and now I finally took them up on their offer. How to Order: When you walk in there are ordering slips. You grab a pencil and fill out your order. Once you're done you leave it on the deli case. After the sandwich is made the staff will call you name & then you pay. Love how it is customizable. Parking: It can be tricky with the other shops in the strip mall. I would say try to say come early or avoid rush hour food times. Food: Soo yummy and lots of options. I ordered the turkey sandwich on Ci Si Bon bread with lettuce, pickles, and mayo! I will definitely be coming back again to try all the meats and bread selections. :) read more

First time at Ruby's but will not be my last. I found Ruby's by luck and boy do I feel lucky. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and was not disappointed. The bread was soft and delicious, and they are not stingy with their ingredients. This sandwich brought a smile to my face it was so good. Their service is old school where one has to write down their order, but the staff was friendly and helpful and they didn't make me feel bad for being a first time customer. I've been told that Rubys Sandwich Saloon is a popular location for the locals and students of Newport Harbor High School to come visit. I've been here many times but this is my first review. It's a shop that specializes in sandwiches. When you walk in, grab one of the paper slips to fill out and customize your order. Turn that slip up to the front and they will prep your sandwich while you pay. There's a cute chip corner if you want to add a bag of chips. I'm a classic tuna on wheat kinda gal, so that's what I always get. The squaw bread however is nothing like I've ever tasted and my boyfriend likes to get that for his sandwiches. Ruby's was a great find! Wanted a fresh and tasty sandwich and found exactly that at Ruby's. A busy spot that is frequented by many locals that seem to know the young ladies working behind the counter. Service was friendly and fast. The sandwiches were made to order with fresh ingredients. The chicken noodle soup was hot with noodles that seemed to be homemade. The dining area at Ruby's is small and clean with tables and a bar area to sit.
