I feel like it's so rare to find younger people that have the people skills and poise under a high stress environment. I did a quick Yelp search and noticed that My Galley was within walking distance to where I was. The menu looked like they had a decent variety of breakfast items, so I decided to head over and check it out. My Galley is mainly a breakfast and lunch spot. The space itself isn't large, but there are a few chairs and tables, as well as some outdoor space to sit. The decor is simple and casual, but has accent touches throughout and overall gives off a beachy vibe. The menu contains a variety of items including breakfast burritos, smoothies, bagels, sandwiches, and panini. I decided to get their breakfast sandwich - this contained egg, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. I decided to add avocado, and was given my choice of bread so I went with sourdough. The sandwich was good - they were generous with the fillings and it remained intact as I was munching. I also ordered a coffee which was also quite good - not sure what brand they use but it was a standout. Service was great - there were only two employees working when I stopped by, and despite both of them multitasking they kept things moving. Overall, I had a good experience at My Galley - the variety of their menu and quality of the food would definitely warrant a return trip the next time I'm in the area. read more

Food looks good the only thing is they have the back door open so there is a billions of flies inside, like a bunch of them, you can see them landing on the utensils and the coffee machines. It's kind of scary when they walk away from the food for a little to grab something because the flies can quickly go on top of the food. If I could give 0 stars I would, their costumer service is completely awful. I called to ask if the shop allowed their costumers to use their WIFI and to know if they had parking because in Newport parking is always hard to find. A female picked up the phone and said they do let costumers use the WiFi, so I asked if they had costumer parking she went silent and hung up the phone on me mid conversation. I called again and a male picked up the phone this time, told him the situation and he proceeded to say they do not let costumers use the WiFi and don't have to costumer parking, never taking accountability for their behavior. Solid local spot here in Balboa! Lots of street parking around the area, especially in the early morning hours. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but I personally like the breakfast burrito with avocado, the CTA deluxe bagel with extra lemon pepper, and the overboard smoothie. Went in this morning and the girl that was working in the front cashier was super nice great customer service. It's too bad the Manager tall mean girl with long hair and the cook, short guy with curly hair was very cruel to the young cashier. The short cook snatched the ticket right out of her hand and was being very mean to her and slamming stuff around. The manager was also yelling at her and slamming stuff around in front of customers. I told her she shouldn't be treating this young lady like this and she looked at me and said very rudely she is the manager and I said I don't care who you are. You shouldn't be yelling at her.. First off, I want to start by saying that My Galley Cafe has an ARRAY of menu items to choose from and that I would definitely come back to try the breakfast items, avocado toasts, or paninis if I'm in the Newport Beach Area. Note. My review is SOLELY based on the Peach Berry smoothie. I ordered this based on another Yelper's positive review, but I honestly think it was overhyped. The apple juice in the Peach Berry was much too strong and the smoothie tasted mainly like an icy apple juice with a small hint of peach - it just did not taste like what I expected. My friend also ordered the Pink Tide and her smoothie tasted like strong apple juice as well. I also tried my friend's Acai Smoothie and that one had a better taste than the other two smoothies. The cafe is clean and the staff members are really nice so I do believe their other menu items are delicious and I'd love to try them someday. went on Saturday morning to this cute little corner coffee shop! We got a jalapeño cheddar bagel with cheese, a breakfast burrito and 2 lattes for about $30. I ordered a hot white chocolate latte and it was wayyy too sweet and I'm a sweet coffee girlie :( but my bagel was very yummy! Also the breakfast burrito was good! They have a decent list of Sammie's too if you want something more filling! there's a ton of street parking in the area but it it's a little busy so you might have to walk a bit. To start off the coffe is super disappointing... My coffee came out like 10% coffee and like 90% milk, coffee is not their forte. I could've drank some milk from home if that were the case! The drinks were also pretty pricy. As for the bagels, those were super yummy and definitely stand out. The blueberry and Nutella bagels are my favorites. My wife's Balboa Twister smoothie was delicious. The paninis are outstanding and typically I eat 1/2 and again take the remainder home which heats up nicely in the oven the following day. My large espresso was a generous pour which I appreciated. There is ample free 30 minute green zone parking in front of the restaurant, an adequate amount of time for a quick meal. It is nice to dine in a casual environment with a chill vibe. A lot of locals are regulars. External speakers play low key house music that adds to the unhurried atmosphere. It is nice to relax at a table once you have ordered at the counter. The staff brings your order out to your table when it's ready. I've noticed the staff is always hustling but not in a frantic way. They keep the outside area clean. There is a water bowl for dogs which is a nice touch. Restroom tokens are freely handed out to customers. Waste of money and time. Ordered 3 drinks and each one was worse than the next. The coffee beans or whatever they use is so bitter. Tried to doctor it up with creamer and milk and it did t help. I also ordered my bagels with extra cream cheese because I saw the people in front of me get theirs and barely had any. Even paying the extra fee for extra cream cheese there was barely any at all We also came here for lunch yesterday and ordered chicken salad sandwiches. They were so small and basically just bread with a small spread of checkin salad. We had to scrape all of it onto one half just to make an actual sandwich. My kids love their bagels and cookies. Every time I plan to try their acai bowl or other items, I always end up going with my usual burrito and latte. I used to love this place. We would come here every time we were in Newport at the family beach house. Nestled within the residential area along Balboa Blvd is a petite place that is truly the hidden diamond of Balboa. Uhm... Er... I've had past differences of opinion with restaurant ratings in Newport Beach and I keep trying, sure that I'm just missing something that others are seeing/experiencing. At this point I'm ready to concede: perhaps my tastes are just the complete antithesis of those who are yelping these businesses. How else to explain the mostly 5-star rating for My Galley, to which I'll generously offer up 2-stars? Here's how it broke down, your experience may (will certainly?) vary: A short wait in line on a weekday morning yields an opportunity to order at the counter. I place my order for an acai bowl and am told it'll be 20 minutes. All orders were running about this long as they had only 2 people working which is, apparently, the norm for their weekdays. Most tables are outside. When my order was ready it wasn't brought out nor was our name called out front. My son found the order inside on the counter and confirmed it was ours before taking it. I've always said that even the worst acai bowl is still pretty good. Now I've had the worst acai bowl and would like to retract that statement. The "acai" in this bowl was tasteless and light purple; Acai is traditionally a very dark purple berry. This tasted nothing like acai. The cup it was in was very large (as it should be for $9) and layered with a very uninteresting, 1-note granola. Only on the very top was there any fruit (bananas) and there wasn't enough of it to match the volume of what lay below it. My son ordered a veggie breakfast burrito which he, with a shrug of his shoulders, declared "okay" before rising every few minutes to go inside for a different version of hot sauce (they have several bottled options). It didn't take a genius to see that he was masking whatever flavors there were with the flavors he was adding. And he's not usually a fan of hot sauce. So, worst acai bowl ever, a completely mediocre breakfast burrito, and a bit of a wait. You won't find me clogging up the line to order again at My Galley. This spot is a hidden gem! Someone had told me about this place and said I needed to go. I decided to finally go for the first time today! They are only letting one person in the facility at a time to order as a COID precaution. All employees there were wearing masks and a mask is required upon entry. Niki was helping me out today and she was THE BEST. I asked what to order from there since it was my first time and she told me to get the CTA Bagel. You HAVE to get the CTA bagel. I am so glad I took her recommendation because now it will be something I crave. Idk what they do to make the bagels taste the way they do or the seasoning they put on it but dang it was so good!
