I came to this tanning salon pre vacation and in need of advice on how to achieve a beautiful color and glow before my very first trip to Hawaii. Katie ( the owner) was AMAZINGLY helpful and guided me on what beds to use and how often...I had about 3 weeks to achieve this. This salon has friendly staff and the owner Ron rocks! Both his staff and himself make sure your receiving a tan that's both satisfying and the color you desire! I have never become orange from any of there products wether it's a lotion or getting a spray tan. The bulbs in the tanning beds are always new, the beds are always clean....Oh, and best part they have music for while your tanning! Which I LOVE! Overall this place is awesome! I normally tan only 6 months out of the year but when I do this is the only spot I'll go!! I have also brought MANY friends here and they also have enjoyed their experience here too! having recently moved from so-cal, i've been kinda missing out on the traffic-y drive to santa monica beach for a tan ... and being cooped up indoors for being in an accelerated nursing program doesn't help either... so, i thought... "time to go for a tan!" i've got a bachelorette p. to attend in vegas, and i really don't want to scare people away exposing them to the ten different shades of "color" i have on my body. looked up yelp and found this place. my first visit was awesome, got to meet ron, who was real nice and helped with a plan to attack my unnevenness. he gave me a tour of the place, explained the different types of beds and different types of lotion... i never thought tanning could be this complex, but he and his staff made it easy! the place itself is clean, and they provide you with a stereo and headphones, clean towel, wipes in the rooms... in addition to other knick knacks we may need (after tan lotion, deodorant, etc) btw, for other first timers who are interested in doing tanning beds rather than mystic tan, ... it would help to come in a week or two earlier than your "event" or whatever vacation you're tanning for. for one, you don't know how you react to the tanning beds, and two... it's just better to plan and be organized =) anyway, tanning here is totally worth the drive from san mateo. thank you guys for the fun tanning experience! paleness ain't got nothin on mee!! =] read more

This salon was very clean, the gentleman work was nice, friendly and helpful (for the most part). The standup beds and the level 1 beds look relatively new and nice. However, the VIP bed and the Ultra bed were not so great. Both beds are kind of dated, which is not a big deal, or at least to me. The issued I had was that in the VIP one of the face bulbs was out, again not a huge issue, so I didn't say anything. Next time I tanned it was in the Ultra. One of the main bulbs was out, the one right down the middle. The rest of the bulbs don't seem to get very hot, it was lack luster. The acrylic support beam was crack, broken and not longer doing its job. Which meant the bed creaked at lot, it freaked me out. Although I am sure I was safe. When I told the guy working, he kind of just brushed it off. Which seemed odd to me. That specific tanning session was a total waste, due to the bulbs. Anyways, take what you will from this review. It is a nice and clean salon, by maybe stick to the level 1 and standup beds. read more

I highly recommend Perfect Tan because of their high standard for customer service. Ron, the owner, takes the time to understand the customer's tanning needs before offering any suggestions. I got a deal from living social. This was my first spray tan ever and it was great. I recommend the darkest because medium is really light. I am very fair skin with blond hair and blue eyes. I love this place. Each winter I go back for 5-6 tans and the workers remember me from the winter before. They have a good selection of beds. The Onyx is by far the best. Only 9 minutes and I leave feeling great from the Vitamin-D that I got, and I look like I've been to the beach everyday for a week! I tan very quickly, so I can only go here once every two or three weeks to tan. Otherwise I'd look funny--the beds give a nice deep tan. Great lotions for sale and helpful and chatty workers. They are open until 7 on some nights which is nice. read more

Throughout the years I've had tanned at many different salon's throughout the Bay Area and this location definitely stands out! All of the staff is amazing and I actually love going and feeling the honest positive vibes! Not only is the salon and staff amazing my tan is too! I was kinda unsure about adding the extra cost for the red light therapy bed to my membership but I'm telling you it is amazing and so worth it! It is like my extra little treat to myself! It helped my mood, body, skin and my tan! It has a little workout type addition you can use wail using the red light therapy Bed and it seriously worked me out, without the effort and sweat hands down amazing here! They also have a San Carlos location I go to when In the area and same amazing experience there! read more

Wish you could give no stars! They recently hired this new girl Ashlin, she is so disrespectful. I went to tan in my usual bed, first it wasn't even cleaned so i asked her very politely if she could clean it and she gave me a dirty look and said "can you see im busy? wait." that shocked me, how could you talk to a customer like that...After waiting five minutes for her to clean the bed, she only put me in for 5 mins when i asked for 8 mins. When i told her that she had said "oh that sucks, see you next time." That was my last straw, from now on i will never tan here again and ill be sure to let everyone i know that does not to tan their. They need to evaluate their employees better. Also she dressed very tacky, this salon has gone down hill. read more

I wish I lived closer to this place :(. I actually travel all the way from the East Bay to tan here, crazy? Maybe. But it's the only place that comes close to the level of tanning I'm used to in NJ. I went in to sign up to be a Sun Club member and was helped by the two friendliest blondes ever, I have gone three times since and every time I have been welcomed by such nice staff that I feel so at home. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I go three times a week to use the beds, and the service is phenomenal. The girls are super cute and friendly, and once they know your name you can just walk right in and claim your bed. I've only had to wait once for a bed, and that was half an hour before closing so it was crunch time. Honestly, I never thought I would use a tanning bed in my life---I've always just tanned outside in the sun!---but this is a great way to cover up those awkward bathing suit tan lines. So GO!
