There was miscommunication from the director regarding their payment terms. This frustrated me because I was paid the day of the performance for every paid gig I have ever had at other venues. Different industry, different practices. It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get paid. Today the director explained they pay 30-45 days following performances based on frequency (recurring versus first time).

I was recommended to them from my surgeon after I found out that my husband could not be present that day. I met one of the head folks over there, Deborah, and she was just lovely and warm as can be. She wanted to make sure they could fulfill my needs, and booked someone to see me through my first day and someone else to see me through the night. Both ladies were superb, very knowledgable, but also very supportive and encouraging through my difficult day. Everyone was on time and ready to help with my every need, from making note of all of my medications and foreseeing any events that might arise. I wasn't ready to shower yet but I know they would have helped me with that as well. I will probably need more help after another procedure and I wouldn't hesitate to call them. I could tell that they really cared about my comfort and about me as a person. I can see them doing great work in on ongoing situation with a person who might need regular home care, as well as on a situational basis. Thanks to all of you wonderful ladies!

At one point in the conversation she stated "How did you even get in here?". What concerned me most, however, were the subtle but unmistakable racial undertones in the interactions--particularly in the difference between how I was treated compared to the other guest.

The building is beautiful with its landscaped courtyards and spacious and immaculate resident rooms. The staff is highly professional and caring with a wonderful sense of humor. Even the food is tasty, something you don't expect when you are in the hospital or nursing home. I would go so far as to say they have treated our family like family. Cora in admissions worked with us to explain the finances and answer all questions. She's stepped back in when finances became tighter. Amber, the Executive Director has always shown us kindness and compassion and gone to bat for our family. The maintenance staff got Grandpa's TV working a few times so he could continue to watch his baseball. They then moved Grandpa's hospital bed over to Grandma's room and set it up for us when he passed. Sandra, the director of the Memory Care Unit is such a loving leader to the residents and her staff. The Christmas party for residents, staff and family was so generous and fun. It's so hard to not be able to see Grandma in person because of COVID-19 and it makes it even more important to know that the staff in the memory care unit treats Grandma as if she were their own Grandma. I thank the Lord that we found them.

My mom was struggling physically/mentally and would just moan. One caregiver told her to be quiet multiple times. Another one refused to help because she had asked for too much help. One was busy on her phone and didn't bother to put my mom to bed so my mom fell asleep on her recliner. I tried to talk to the person assigned to me for staffing and she didn't answer texts/calls. I cancelled with her because the people that they were sending were so bad, that it was better to have no one. I got no answer till after the weekend and I was told that I needed to give more notice. I explained that I tried to give notice, but that person wasn't answering their phone. They sent one last person out that they claimed was their best and no one had every complained. After that person got my mom to sleep, she turned tv to the station she wanted (in room next to my mom) and then started calling friends on the phone and talking loudly over the tv. Find your own caregivers. Staffing agencies send people that couldn't get jobs on their own.
