I'm going to be brutally honest about this review and if any authority figures from the motor vehicle department or department of state, consumer affairs or the likes is reading this feel free to reach out to me for more details. Went in today 9.12.2022 for car inspection and set of 4 tires replacement. Spoke to a heavy set Asian man, around 5'10", In his fifties with a gold chain around his neck, dressed casually, not in mechanic uniform. From his overall demeanors one can fairly assume he's an owner/partner there. Was initially told it will take 1.50 hours to get everything done, no issues there and was let in (the car) in less than a few minutes. One of their staff mechanics started on the vehicle inspection process, and I proceeded to inquire about the tires from this same gentleman (heavy set guy) , herein in will be referred to as HSG, as he led the way to show me the availability of tires. Note this HSG person did not once go near my car as it was undergoing the inspection process. Long story short, I found the tires this man quoted to be overpriced and as I returned to the actual mechanic who's completed the inspection with a PASS and the new sticker already put in its proper place on the interior side of the windshield adjacent to the registration sticker... I told the mechanic the new tires are overpriced and THAT'S when the HSG freaked out and ordered the mechanic to take down the PASS inspection sticker, and get rid of it. The mechanic replied "it's already on the glass". Was told then by HSG I need to replace at least 2 tires. WHAT??? NOW, taken by surprised in this whole ordeal I needed a couple of seconds to realize this craziness is actually happening, so I told the HSG "you passed the vehicle with the sticker already on, you can't do that (reference to what gross negligence he and mechanic had committed should they proceed to take down the sticker). As soon as I stated that, HSG ALTERED his tone and his employee to "just forget it, let him go, forget the tires." WTF happened to this place??? This used to be a decent auto shop you can go to without feeling like going into a shady gangsters paradise like back in the 90s. About 3-4 years ago you can go into the shop and get greeted by decent respectable mechanics, nowadays if you stay long enough it's just a whole lot of cursing in various Chinese dialect, usually from the single biggest loudest guy in the shop. New partnership, new management whatever you want to call it, if this place keeps going the way it's going they WILL lose tons of repeating customers like myself who has been going there for the past 10+ years. I've been here twice now - one to do some real work on my car which consisted of fixing the alternator and a leakage in my muffler. the other was to do a simple inspection and I must say both times, I was very satisfied with their work. They're pretty honest as far as I can tell and they're quick to finish the job that needed to be done. They quoted me 30 minutes to finish inspection and it turned out to be in 20. To fix the alternator and muffler, they quoted me 4 hours but was done in less than 3 hours. They fixed the problem and it seems like they charged at a reasonable rate. I was happy that I didn't need to leave my car there overnight to wait for the parts to get shipped over. Everything was done within 3 hours in terms of order the parts, getting it in place and fixing the muffler. Great mechanic shop and I will be back if need be in the future! read more

Andy isn't like your typical mechanic, he is TRUTHFUL! I came in with what I thought was a wheel bearing problem. The other mechanics asked the owner to come and take a look. We took a drive, he heard something but could not say its definitely the bearing. He offered me two solutions, one is to take off the entire axle or just wait another 5000 or so miles. I took the latter since the problem poses no danger. He's not in it just to have business but rather stellar customer service. They're my new favorite mechanic to go to now. read more

I've been a customer of A Plus Auto Repair for a little over 2 years now and I'm a very happy customer. The communication, service, quality, turnaround time and pricing are the best I've seen, which is why I travel over 45 minutes to this specific garage for engine and transmission services. Over the past 2 years, I brought a VW and Lexus here and have had no complaints. This time I brought over a VW Passat for a timing belt service (timing/serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat, tensioner and coolant replacement). They quoted me a reasonable price and did a fantastic job. I got a quote from other garages that I used to frequent, but they didn't let me bring my own parts and were overcharging or turned me away because German cars often use special proprietary tools to service their cars. A Plus quoted me a reasonable price, let me bring my own parts from vendors I trusted and were skilled enough to complete the job without the VW dealer/proprietary tools. If you own a German car that is hard to work on, the guys at A Plus are skilled mechanics and know what to do. I've been cruising up and down the highway and the car feels great. They also replaced my front door actuator (the electric motor that locks and unlocks your doors) and put back everything perfectly. I took the doors apart myself years ago, when my lock buttons were hideously peeling; it took my 3 hours and 2 friends to fix them and tearing the door panels off. I'm surprised they put it back better than I did, which proves how skilled they are, or rather, how unskilled I am! :) In the past, they have done basic maintenance like oil and filter changes and state inspections and brakes as well and they will check everything under your car while it is lifted. These guys will not be pushy and are very friendly and honest neighborhood mechanics. I suggest you call them and discuss the specifics - they will honor everything discussed verbally. Since I don't work around this location, they often accommodated me in the past to ensure that I can drop-off and pick-up the car on the same day. They are very genuine and great mechanics! I've been going here for the past 3 years based on a recommendation from a friend. We've all been to mechanics where they're very pushy to do X repairs or servicing. I never once felt that sort of pressure here. While I'm not a car person and can't attest to the quality of the service work, I did bring in brake pads to change after 5 years and the mechanic 'Thomas' advised that I still have at least 8-9k miles remaining and there's no need to change it. I thought this was an honest gesture as he could have easily increased his revenue by billing for additional work. Overall, I plan on going back for all my servicing needs. read more

My family has been coming to this auto repair shop for years, I can safely say at least 7 years now. I have never been so disappointed & aggravated by their service. 1. About 6 months ago I came to get my car fixed because my rear bumper was scratched, one of the workers comes to greet me & after a long conversation the worker says something along the lines of having to "confirm with the manager" cuz it's not something they can get done ASAP. I had told him I can leave the car there and pick it up when it's ready. Still did not want to do the service. Attitude was not pleasant either. 2. Today when I went to get my annual NYS inspection, one of the employees comes out & gives me an annoyed look. It was lunch time & I get it but I said I can pick it up in 2-3 hours no rush. The guy says oh sorry but can you come back at 3 PM? But I already had plans that I needed to leave at 3:30 latest. He says "I have to ask my manager if we can work on yours earlier" but still gives me an attitude as if I interrupted his lunch time & demanded him to inspect my car then & there. I don't understand how my family has been coming here & putting up with their unprofessional attitude; the employees seem to have to "ask their manager" about being able to fix your car. SMH. I was unfortunate enough to give this place my business today. Someone decided to poke two holes into my tire today, therefore, I decided to visit this auto repair shop since it is close by. When I first asked the manager how long getting a replacement tire would take, I was told an hour. I waited almost an hour and 30 minutes before I decided to call the company. When I called in, the person who picked up did not know who I was and insisted that I had called the wrong number. That is when he finally decided to call his manager. Now, his manager did know who we were. We asked him when our tire would be done and he said he's almost here. That phrase would imply that he's delivering the tire, right? No, apparently not. He called back approximately two minutes later and asked why we did not go pick up the tire. Confused, we told him that he said he was going to deliver it to us and that we have no means to pick up the tire since our car was missing a wheel. He yelled at us and asked us what we wanted him to do. This is when I became angry and decided to walk to the auto shop and just pick it up even though that means we have to physically roll the tire back to the car for blocks. Arriving at the location, my uncle asked the manager how much the tire was and instead of telling in the piece, the manager had the audacity to ask who was that on the phone and basically lecture my uncle about the phone call. Overhearing this conversation, I approached the manager and directly told him no matter how the situation unravelled, he should not have yelled at us over the phone. Then he told me that he told my uncle that there was no way he could deliver it and that he was too busy. Okay, now if he was busy, I would understand but he had about 5 employees. ALL of the employees were standing around and smoking. Aside from standing around and smoking, they just stared at us. The manager himself tried to walk around and look busy as well but he was not all that busy either. In the end, we were charged $235 for JUST the wheel. This fee DID NOT INCLUDE delivery or installment. So unless, you want rude, less than mediocre service, DO NOT COME HERE. read more

1/13/2015 I went there to do my car inspection, they were very busy, owner told me to come back in 90 minutes, I came back after 90 minutes, then they told me I could leave my car there, car inspection need to process for 40 minutes, I told them ok I could wait for 40 minutes, they told me I had to leave car there. In my opinion, running a successful business requires one to be good at their job and have good customer service. Not only is this place mediocre at what they do, they treat their customers like garbage. The manager will not hesitate to yell at his customers- in front of other customers or in front of his employees, you name it. I heard terrible reviews about this auto repair shop, but against my better judgement my friends and I came here anyways because we really had no choice (it was the closest repair shop). Coming here was a mistake; we simply needed one item patched up and despite the fact that I was told the materials were in stock, we waited the upmost part of 3 hours. Growing impatient, we had asked the manager how much longer would the process take TO SIMPLY PATCH UP A SMALL PUNCTURE. What has he been doing for 3 hours? Not going to the back and bringing out anything to fix our puncture that's for sure. Bare in mind, there was absolutely no one in the shop, none of his employees are working and there were no cars to be fixed. At this point we're about 4 hours in and my patience is running thin, yet I took a couple deep breaths and calmly said "Its been 4 hours, when are you going to start?" It was at this time that he decided he would rather stand there and lecture me about my attitude rather than doing his job. Now, i'm never the type to stand there and get disrespected, but in this instance, I bit my tongue. The fact of the matter is 3 girls in a car with 3 wheels - we're not getting very far. Half an hour goes by and this employee is still standing, carrying a conversation, having the time of his life (seriously, he might as well have been holding a Pina Colada) and im slowly, but surely losing my sh*t. When I finally told him I had enough, he went to grab our tire, delivered it and threw it on the ground in front of me. (First of all, when was it done? Was he planning on letting me know anytime soon? Did he enjoy my "oh-so-calm, oh-so-patient" attitude that he simply couldn't bare to let us leave?) ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Despite the fact that it took him MULTIPLE HOURS patch up a small hole, he had the audacity to throw it in front of me without the intention of installing it (which we paid for)? We literally installed it ourselves - 3 girls, 1 tire style. I was so astounded by how this ridiculous business has a 4 star rating, but after taking a closer look, the reviewers are the very same employees that work in the shop itself. The very same that were just sitting outside, smoking and catching up on one another's gossip when the manager claimed he's was "too busy" to tend to my needs right away but will be "on it in a few minutes" (or 3 hours later, whatever, who's counting?). Last night my brake got the same issue, that shouldn't happen bc it's all brand new, then I towed the car back to Queens. I went to another shop, I don't like this place horrible service and pricy! Customer service is a joke, employees are extremely rude except for Wilson. If you don't speak Chinese do not bring your car here. Brought my car in and knew something was wrong with transmission but they only cleaned a butterfly filter saying it was very dirty. Had to bring it back again the next day because the same problem was occurring. Paid 3k for a new transmission, drove the car a bit and it sounded like a truck! The rude mechanic tells me its my gas that I've been putting in. I've been putting in the same gas for 5 years and you're telling me now it's my gas problem right after you "fixed" the car? Complete JOKE. Now the A/C doesn't work. Needless to say I will not be bringing it back to this shop. Rude and little to no service with subpar repair skills. Also left the car at the shop, they said they would call me when the repair was done. Near closing time they didn't call so I did, and guess what? THE CAR WAS DONE. Came in to install some HID's (yeah i know, i could've done it myself - but laziness gets the better of us) - Spoke to Mack (the HID guy) - pretty cool guy - took me in on a hot summer dog day afternoon. Went right to work on my car. I was in and out in 25minutes. Very reasonable price for the labor. Also, a few of the technicians do speak english well so don't get discouraged about that. This place is terrible! A plus car services my ass! I'm absolutely appalled by their terrible attitude! They're so rude. They can't do anything right. From the second I stepped foot into their auto shop, they gave me attitude. My car wheel was popped so there was no way for me to get to the shop to pick up the wheel so they said that they would deliver it but when we called back, three hours later asking where it was, they said they would not deliver it and that they were too busy. Instead of saying it kindly, the manager actually yelled at me and was very rude. He kept saying what do you want me to do? So we had to roll the wheel all the way back. Never have I had such disgusting customer service in my life. I am absolutely shocked at how rude they were. To think you can open a business with such terrible attitude and terrible quality. It's funny because a majority of the good reviews are written by the people who work there or their family.
