I called to see if my Canon Maxify printer with an internal error code could be repaired. I explained that I got the printer on sale for 99bucks at Fry's a few years ago. They told me they would take it apart and look at it. Then, much to my surprise, they called me back and said that the error code was an internal part that would cost more to repair than just replace with new printer and they did not want to rip me off. This is the type of service that made Nordstrom popular!! Very rare to see customer service, especially when no money is exchanged, like this anymore. This review is long overdue. I contacted A Plus on March 3 regarding paper jammed in my ancient (but fabulous) HP Laserjet 1100; this was a few days before moving out of state. When I dropped it off Kurt said it would take a couple of days and they would call me on Saturday. I imagined that they'd call to tell me how long it would take to fix; instead, they called me on Friday and said it would be ready for pick up after 2 PM. I can't say that I actually used their services because I didn't even get to. I arrived at A Plus to try to get a printer repaired to find the place closed at 12:45 pm with a sign saying they would open at 1:00 pm. No problem, I thought, I can wait 15 minutes. At 1:15, the place is still closed with no signs of anyone inside. I try to call their number, but no one answers. I try two more times, finally reaching someone on the third try. The person on the line is not actually in the store and does not know when the store's proprietor will be back, but claims "the manager should be heading there now, I'll call him and get back to you in 5 minutes." 15 more minutes pass (it's now 1:30 to those counting). The person I spoke to has not called, so I call him back. He explains that he does not know where the manager is, that he might be "on the bridge" and that's why he cannot reach him (I did not even dispute the lack of logic in this statement). He says I should try to come back in a few hours or the next day. In the alternative, he suggested THAT I LEAVE THE PRINTER OUTSIDE BY THE DOOR and that the manager would come look at it when he showed up. Needless to say, I did not leave my printer outside the door for someone to steal as the representative recommended. In April of this year, I had A-Plus come to my office to look into the problem with my HP Laserjet which displayed a "Maintenance Code". Kurt from A-Plus told me my fuser needed to be replaced so that's what he did and charged me $284. After 3 months, the printer displayed a "Fuser" error code so I called Kurt back. He told me that the fuser needed to be replaced again. I've had this printer for 9 years and never had the fuser replaced until April of this year and Kurt is now saying that I needed to replace the fuser again after only 3 months. I couldn't believe this guy!! ... so I basically gave up on this printer. While going through my supply cabinet this week, I noticed that I had a brand new toner for this printer so I decided to get a quote from One Source Printer repair in San Jose. After they did a diagnostic on my printer, they said that the printer had a refurbished fuser, not a OEM fuser. Stay away from A-Plus Printer or you'll be cheated out of your money like me. read more

I wasn't sure if I could find a good printer repair place during shelter in place and after reading about printer problems online I figured I just needed a new fuser for my laser printer and might be able to replace it myself. I contacted A Plus Printer Services regarding an Epson printer and clogged print heads. They could have just told me to bring it in and charged me a service fee. But instead, they took time with me on the phone to assure I had done all of the self-maintenance and self-corrective service. Then, they were brutally honest about the cost and the success rate of replacement heads for Epson. Basically, they talked me out of a service call suggesting it was good money after bad to try to repair it. He also suggested that as a home user, I likely don't run a printer like that enough to not have the heads clog over time. I fully appreciate the honesty and time I received from A Plus, especially considering they did it all with the result of talking me out of giving them business.
