I am severely dental phobic. I need anesthesia to make an appointment…read more My husband has been going to Dr. Kandl for years and finally convinced me to go due to a severe toothache. The front desk was so kind and sweet. Waiting room relaxing and you can't hear the drilling that makes me break out into a sweat and want to run. The Assistant and Dr Kandl listened to me.....every word and fear. They spent time with me and did not do anything until I was ready. Their demeanor and patience has made me a patient of theirs for life. I don't even get anxious anymore for teeth cleaning. THANK YOU! You are a true example of how patient care is supposed to be, especially someone with a horrible Phobia that needs care.

I had been a loyal patient of my previous dentist for over 30 years and never once had an issue…read morewith billing or unexpected charges. When he retired, I was referred to the new dentist who took over the practice. I had no existing relationship or loyalty to this new provider, and I was extremely clear from the start: I am out-of-network with United Concordia, I have never paid out-of-pocket for dental care, and I was not willing to start now. I told them directly that if they didn't take my insurance, I would go elsewhere. I asked multiple times before the appointment if I would be charged, and I was repeatedly assured that I would not. I was told they do this all the time, that a form would be submitted to my insurance provider, and that everything would be handled -- no worries. Now, I've been billed $350. When I followed up, they admitted they were unfamiliar with the various United Concordia plans and were unprepared for the volume of patients after taking over the practice. In other words, they gave me false information and are now walking it back with excuses. Their response was essentially: "We're being more careful now," which offers no resolution or accountability to the patients already affected by their mistake. This situation was entirely avoidable. I was proactive, transparent, and clear about my insurance and my expectations. They gave me misleading information, and now I'm left with a bill I never agreed to -- one I would have avoided had I received honest communication. This behavior is unethical. It's a complete lack of accountability and professionalism, and I find it unacceptable. I will be disputing this charge with the appropriate authorities and reporting the incident as necessary. I strongly advise others to get every assurance from this office in writing. Based on my experience, I would not trust their word.

He continued as though nothing had happened. I returned home to see in the mirror that he had completely THINNED out the side of my tooth which continued to splinter 3 more times. Time went by and I saw that I developed some cavities in front of my mouth so I made an appointment, I was seen by the older I briefly told him about the problem. I didn't waste too much time informing him. Went back to have him, fill the cavity and complain about the tooth. In no way, was it my fault was his reply. He completed that filling and he asked if I would like that "tooth smoothed " With hesitation, I said OK. it was a very top corner of my tooth that was chipped off that he was too smooth. He took the same grinder used in preparing for my feeling to touch up the top of my tooth. Instead, shaky hands went completely across my tooth - grinding I deep fracture line across my tooth. Went back to him again a week later he replied that your tooth was like that already. Take this as a warning, not enough money for lawyers to get involved - but maybe if we get together, we could stop this. Please speak up. There are many bad dentists out there. Does anybody know of a good dentist?

On another note, after having two implants put in, I went to his son to have the crowns created and attached. First, they are low and I cannot make contact on that side of my mouth. Worst yet, he used way too much cement and it resulted in an infection. I have spent over two thousand dollars at the periodontist trying to fix the problem that HE CREATED. I haven't even had the original problem fixed, as the infection is not yet healed. THESE DENTISTS ARE NOT GOOD! STAY AWAY.

Moreover, I had joined the savings plan. However, when I was presented with the bill, and I said that I was under the impression that x-rays, etc., were free, I was told that they are 20% off. Online, the plan clearly states that the x-rays and exam are free. Of course, the bill was not itemized. There was also a charge on my bill for work that the doctor said might have to be done in the future!!! This brought the bill up to $4500.00. I quickly stated that I was not having that work done at present, so Natalie deducted it. However, my bill was still a whopping $1600.00 dollars. That was for the exam, x-rays. cleaning, and 2 fillings. As a retired widow on a fixed income, I must say that such a fee is difficult to manage, but I paid the entire balance, rather than have to pay interest over the course of the next few months. Frankly, I would have walked out if I had not lost a filling from a front tooth. There also seemed to be a great deal of confusion. There was only one dentist on my first visit, so I could not have my filling replaced. I was given two appointments for the following day: 9AM cleaning, and 10AM fillings. When the hygienist completed the cleaning, she said, "I see that your fillings will be done at 11. I quickly protested, and that problem was rectified. When I met with the dentist, who obviously had not even glanced at my health history, she asked the same questions I had been asked the day before. She asked if I had any allergies, and if I take any medication and have any health problems. When I answered "no" to the two latter questions, she just stared at me. I repeated my answer, and she continued to stare, and said "Not even blood pressure?" I told her that I am very healthy and take excellent care of myself. Finally, when she was about to start working on me, she stated that the tooth minus the filling wasn't even listed under the work she was supposed to do!!! I said that that tooth was the reason for my visit! It seems that the dental assistant had recorded the wrong tooth!!! When all was done, she just walked out, and rushed to the next patient. I could mention more, but I am sure you can see why I will not be recommending Aspen Dental to my friends -- maybe my enemies!
