I had my oil changed and needed brakes, a battery and filters changed in addition. No problem. Ten days later my car indicated an electrical issue and I had it towed to Austin Automotive on Bell. I had trusted and used them exclusively on a regular basis for a few years. The alternator needed replaced. Again no problem. The service rep called me and said my oil was "dirty" and needed to be changed. I told him I had just been in 10 days ago and if it was dirty that was on them. He argued with me and told me I also needed additional work. Nothing I was apprised of 10 days prior. I know they have been bought out by Great Water 360 and perhaps they operate on commission now. DISCRIMINATORY: The owner asked me why I continue to live in Texas and suggested I leave in response to my honest review (see attached photo). Clearly, he is upset with me for sharing my honest review publicly rather than concerned about what happened to me at Austin Automotive. Where I live has nothing to do my experience at Austin Automotive. I absolutely LOVE Texas and moved here to be closer to family. Make no mistake; there is a huge difference. I'm a very outgoing person with a friendly personality, but I don't tolerate discrimination, dishonesty, and creepy behavior that is unprofessional and inappropriate. If you're thinking about coming here, DON'T. I came in for a basic oil change and never gave Austin Automotive permission to do a synthetic oil change on my car, which they did anyway. They tried to upsell me and talk me into it *after* the fact once the work was already completed, thinking that a young female in her 20s knows nothing about cars and wouldn't stand up for herself. They chose to mess with the wrong person. As a matter of fact, I know better and refused to pay $91 for a synthetic oil change I did NOT consent to. The waiting room was warm and did not have good AC. They were fast, but that is because they didn't do my oil change correctly. Even if they claimed to have done an unauthorized synthetic, I discovered that the windshield wiper wash fluids were not replaced. This is always included in a standard oil change. The tech who worked on my car was creepy and kept staring at me throughout. He also watched me get into my car. He wasn't going to say anything to me as I was heading out, but suddenly jumped at his chance to talk to me and said he wanted to "introduce himself." The whole experience made me incredibly uncomfortable as a young female in her 20s. I advise everyone to steer clear of this sleazy place! read more

I have used this company a few times before but I had to cancel my appointment this morning because they couldn't do an emissions test/inspection whatever it is that is required now. They only wanted to do the oil change. They used to do them not sure if they just do oil changes now? They used to be full service for other things too. The Austin Automotive location is horrible!! I made an appointment for my car to be checked out as it was having quite a few issues. A few hours later they called and said the motor is shot. They did NOT run a diagnostic on it just merely started the car and decided it wasn't worth their trouble. All they said was it needed a new motor and that could cost 5,000-7,000 at least!! We brought it to get a second opinion as it's evident these guys don't know much. Come to find out the car just needs a new belt and a sensor. I would not go back to this place if someone paid me!! Good and honest folks here. I found this place near my house this week when my neighbor asked me for a ride to drop off her Jeep.. my son has been having issues with his girlfriend's Santa Fe.. I thought this would be a good place to get it fixed. Neighbor was happy with service and it's close by. My son and husband went this morning to drop it off and was told there was a diagnostic fee.. A couple hours went by and he got the call... needs a new engine.. they are a young couple and every dollar matters... the manager didn't charge for the fee.. yeah it sucks they need a new engine but stuff like this helps a lot... we will definitely be back for any other mechanic needs for my family or them.. I will also recommend this place to all my family and friends close by. A mother is always concerned when her kid has to start doing stuff on his own.. it's a cruel world.. but I'm super happy that there are still honest good people out there like these folks that realized that charging $100plus dollars to a young kid when he had to get a new engine would be a bummer.. thanks guys! it will come back to you ten fold... The person who answered the phone was the same who helped me in person and I hope he forgives my annoying forgetful brain for not remember his name: but he was AWESOME. This is a vet friendly place and they had me out in maybe leSs than 20 minutes and it was about $18 when all said and done. I would definitely come back here if any vehicle needs come up. The entire experience was so great. I went with my roommate to take her car in because the AC went out and it's 105° with is obviously a BIG NO here in Texas. We took it by and they were so kind and went over exactly what they will do during the free check of the AC. Within a hour or 2 we were told that the AC compressor basically went to the gulag (COD joke haha) and that we would need to replace it all. They were super transparent and upfront about it all and I never felt like they were tying to do a "money grab" like other auto places I have been. Being a women and taking your car to get fixed is usually money signs for auto places but not here. They are so were so professional and quick and we had a same day fix and now a fully working AC in this god awful heat wave. Clay is exactly who you want to fix your car. They have the right level of dad jokes and knowledge that I honestly don't think I will ever take my car anywhere else as long as I live in Austin.
