I would not recommend this company. I was forced to use them by home warranty company, who I called first thing on Monday morning for a water leak in my basement. First, he didn't call me in the time frame the warranty company stated they would call, so I called him near close of business. He said that he doesn't get his new work orders until the end of the day and would have called the following day. He then told me that he would at least stop by the following day, as he had another job in the area, so that he could at least assess the situation. I called him later in the day on that second day and he advised he wasn't going to have time to stop, but would call in the morning to see where he could "fit me in." Ok, I understand, things come up. Next morning he called, and it became apparent I was low priority for him, because he was only willing to "squeeze me in" between other jobs he had scheduled, same as the day before. I said, since you can't guarantee me an approximate time, why don't we look at the next day. He told me that his guy has a straight forward water heater install in the morning, so he could be there between 12:30 and 1:00. I asked if there was a possibility of doing it a bit later in the afternoon, and his response was, "well, my guy will be done by then and I'll need him to head straight to your job." So, I agreed and rearranged my schedule, asking that he call when he's on his way. Following day, 12:30-1:00 came and went, so I called asking for an update at 1:20. Dan stated that his guy was still finishing the other job, but should be done shortly. His guy called at 1:45 and stated he was leaving the South Hill, which is about 45 mins from where I live, so I asked that he call about 15 mins away, so I could leave work and meet him timely. An hour later, he hadn't called yet, so I called only to find out, he was still in Spokane and wouldn't arrive for another 30-40 mins. I explained I could make the trip from South Hill in 45 mins and inquired why there was such a delay. His statement, "well, you can't predict when things might come up." Starting to see the pattern with this company. At this point, I had rearranged an earlier meeting, to 4:00, so by the time he arrived, he would have little to no time to address this issue, so I advised him to cancel. I called his boss and relayed the same information and told him I would contact the warranty company for another plumber, since they couldn't be reliable or courteous of other's time. When I called the warranty company, they had to put me on hold to call the company to cancel. When I was taken off hold, the warranty company told me that Dan said his guy was only 30 minutes away and is within the promised time he would be there. After explaining my prior 3 days with this company, they agreed to assign the issue to another plumbing service. read more

Unfortunately, I have used this plumber several times. I did not realize until later that they seriously overcharged me for every job that they performed. I had always heard that plumbers were expensive, but these guys take the cake. They charged me $750 for a new sump pump that I later discovered was being sold for only 250! They charged me $1,750 for a new water heater 2 years ago that I discovered was only $800! Plus labor and installation, which wasn't included in those prices! The owner is fairly unpleasant, barely talks to the customer, is gruff and seems annoyed or impatient at every conversation. One of his staff guys tried to tell me my toilet was cracked and he could replace it for $600. I couldn't afford that at the time, so I looked into doing it myself. If I had bought a new, really nice toilet, it would have cost me $150. The thing is, after getting down on the floor and inspecting it, I discovered that there wasn't a crack at all! It ended up just needing new gaskets inside and that was less than $20 and an easy fix by myself in under 20 minutes! After that I am now wondering if I did get a brand new sump pump or water heater considering how they wouldn't give me the paperwork or manuals for either one and the fact that both have had issues repeatedly. I will NEVER call on them again and I suggest that you don't either, if you want a reliable, well done job with good equipment and a proper price! read more

This was the second time we used A River City Plumbing. Our first experience with Josh and Jessie (in March 2024) was so positive that they were our first call when we discovered a water leak coming through our lower floor's ceiling. Josh and Jessie came out the same day we called (that alone is outstanding) and they located the source of the leak quickly (upper floor toilet). The wax seal had apparently been slowly leaking for a long time; it eventually leaked through the ceiling below. Josh and Jessie removed the toilet, meticulously cleaned away the wax ring and damaged seal, replaced all the necessary parts and re-installed the toilet. They cleaned up beautifully and were very respectful of our home. They provided us with useful information about our other toilets, too, and provided a referral related to the damage done to the ceiling. Forever GRATEFUL for river city plumbing. I called them on a emergency repair for my mothers water heater as she had no hot water for 24h The owner picked up, dispatched tom and Adien SAME DAY. Tom and Adien educated me on the issue, gave me serval options go. After deciding, tom connected me with the amazing office staff alisha,peggy and linda. They gave me options on payment, helped me schedule the follow up visit and get all the finalized paperwork/ got me photos to send to our insurance. Tom and Adien, was kind and let Dan know about our bad water heater door. Dan sent someone out with a new wood door free of charge. A total of 48h later. Our insurance inspector came out and found another issue! A leaking pipe. I called Tom and Adrian they came SAME DAY and got the job done! I cannot say enough regarding how pleased and impressed I am with this company!!! A previous plumbing job (different company) had left us with very low water pressure in one of our bathtubs after the plumbers turned the main water off and then back on when they were done. After attempting to reach them to remedy the situation over the course of nearly 3 weeks of unanswered phones and NEVER returning my calls, I gave up and called River City Plumbing due to their glowing online reviews. Not only do they actually answer the phone, Larry was here 2 days later, was professional, courteous, wiped everything down when finished, and rates are reasonable. I had gone with another company touting they are more "affordable," however, I think in this case, I got what I paid for: affordable, yes; but TERRIBLE service. Getting a referral from another happy customer was a clue. They answer their phone in person. They schedule right away, provide an estimate, get the job done. Their truck is stocked, they are experienced and particular, work with client goals. Customer service is pro--such as yes, we can do that! Avoiding the deal breaker disclosure--Your job is too little for us. They go way out of the way to get to me because I am paying for the trip. Imagine doing business with people who can charge for their time, make their business work, and at the same time make a difference for those who are in a never-ending revolving door competing for a space with big jobs. Outstanding service!! A fitting under the laundry room sink disconnected and the full force of the city water started pouring into our home. We got the water shut off and called A River City Plumbing at 7:30 on Saturday morning. Andrew came out in less than an hour, figured out what the problem was and quickly fixed it. He also checked all the other sinks and toilets for a similar problem. Then he checked the city water pressure and found it was 120 psi, well over the recommended 6o-80 psi. He highly recommended installing a pressure regulator to avoid a similar problem in any plumbing fixture or appliance, which he did on Monday morning, as soon as he could get the parts. He was professional, courteous, thorough. He educated us on the problem and the solution. Finally he recommended a local company to help repair the water damage. Excellent service! read more

When we moved to the Silver Valley in January 2022, we discovered the water had been turned OFF to our new home! I bumped into 2 employees from A River City Plumbing in town and asked them to look at the plumbing in our house. They came out in a couple of days and gave me an estimate. Comparing it to others I found them to be reasonable. After work was complete they asked me to take a look. I had a problem with roots allmost completly blocking the sewage line from the house that repeated roto rooting couldn't solve. It had to be dug up and replaced. A big and involved job. 9 ft deep excavation, public and private property, a substantial fence moved and replaced and tree removal, I had difficulty even finding plumbers to bid on the job. Dan Palmen owner of A River City Plumbing was responsive with and reasonable with his bid and he and his affable employees did a workman like job doing all the things necessary to finish the work quickly. My water heater wasn't heating and this company did get someone out same day. The older man who came over immediately had me sign on the dotted line that it was $99 for him to check out the problem and that would not apply towards fixing the problem. He walked downstairs and saw the water heater was old and said it was not fixable , not going to work due to to age. He did not attempt to look at anything on it. He told me it would cost $3,995.00 and he'd install a new one the same day. He also said they charge $250 or close to it an hour. If you need it done fairly soon and don't care what you pay, these are your guys. read more

We noticed when our sprinkler system started there was a large bang and the hammering noise was louder than usual. Aaron our plumber identified our incoming water pressure was at 83 lbs, WAY TOO high. Aaron and Dan recommended Pressure Reduction valve and a expansion tank, Install went well and sprinkler system has never been quieter.
