FOOD: The portions are pretty big, so you get what you paid for. We ordered: - pagnaag duck curry: this dish basically came with half the duck. Skin was crispy and duck was very tender. Curry was just the right amount of spicy. - green curry w/ beef: tastes like a solid standard curry with a good mix of meat and veggies. - crab noodle curry: I've actually never had a dish like this before. It came with real crab and the curry was similar to a mix of yellow and red curry. Great for noodle lovers The only thing I would change is to offer brown rice! Overall I loved this restaurant, some things blew my socks off and other things were average. Absolutely one of my favorite cocktail experiences with fun Asian fruit flavors and beautiful presentation! I agree with others the tuna and yellowtail crudo are incredible. Loved the sauces and even the garnishes were yummy. Oysters were a miss. I think Nashville might be too far inland to enjoy oysters at peak freshness. Will skip this next time. Sushi was just ok. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon. So we were seated immediately. We ordered Edamame, seaweed salad, and the crab fried rice. The Edamame was okay, nothing to write home about. The seaweed salad was crunchy and tasty. The crab fried rice was a big portion and had a TON of crab in it. And it wasn't even immitation crab! It was actual lump crab. Would have loved to have some white pepper to put on the fried rice, but they didn't have that available. Service was great. Food came out quickly. I chose the Crab Fried Rice, Pad See Ew with beef, and a Pink Hamachi roll. I thoroughly enjoyed the Crab Fried Rice; it was moist, flavorful, and generously portioned with lump crab meat, which was a nice bonus. The Pad See Ew had great flavor, although I would have preferred wider noodles. The beef was tender and succulent. The sushi roll was fresh and delicious. Of all the sushi I had while in Nashville, this place stands out above the rest. I came for Happy Hour, which is 3pm-6pm, and it was empty by the time I showed up around 5pm. No matter, the dining room started filling up by the time my group left around 6:30pm. The interior is gorgeous and I loved the Halloween decorations they put up. There's also a rooftop area, but that wasn't open when I came in. I'm sure it looks just as cool, judging by the vibes here. The food is a cross between Japanese and Thai, with some American fusion. I stayed more on the Japanese side, but I was definitely eyeing the Thai-oriented dishes. I loved everything we had - the maki rolls had fresh fish and were perfectly portioned, the oysters on the half shell were divine, and the hot sake provided a nice accompaniment to our meal. Price-wise, this place is reasonable. Expect about $20-$40 per person. Service was friendly and efficient, too, which is always appreciated. Upon entering, I was enamored by the ambient lighting from the bar and sushi bar since the main dining area was dimly lit. This restaurant has a very straightforward menu combining Japanese and Thai cuisine. I would say a lot of the menu items are typical of what I've seen in all the Japanese-Thai fusion restaurants I've been to (at least in this area). Of course, I had to order the pad se ew to assess the authenticity of the Thai food. I thought it tasted better than most pad se ew's I've had in the area. Good flavor and not too oily. The crabmeat fried rice had a generous portion of crab meat, which was excellent. The pink hamachi sushi roll was delicious and fresh. Service was attentive and nice. Food came out pretty quickly, which was expected given how quiet the restaurant was. Since it was Halloween, I enjoyed the costumes that the staff were dressed in and how restaurant was decorated. A roi is a Thai/japanese restaurant located not too far from Vanderbilt and the Parthenon. Upon walking in you are welcomed by low lighting artificial plants and an open kitchen concept. There are open tables and booths for individuals to sit at. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and knowledgeable about the Thai food. I ordered the KHAO SOI GAI and a Thai tea. Thai tea was made well! Just the right amount of sweetness, condensed milk and the tea tasted authentic and not instant. The khao soi gai came in a large bowl that was filled to the brim. I don't have a bad thing to say about A Roi. This place is only 3 minutes from my apt so I've been here at least 4/5 times for dine in and carry out. The food is delicious and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. Some Thai spots food can be so greasy! None of that here. I usually get the fried rice and add some vegetables. My BF got the lo mein and he loved it. Spring rolls are delicious too..you only get 2 per order and I'm always tempted to order more. The cocktails are also pretty good. It was tough to decide what to order but I am VERY happy with our choices. The red hulk and the Clifton rolls were absolutely delicious. The pad Thai was different from others because of how light it was. I loved it!! The fried dumplings were a little too fried in my opinion but my boyfriend loved it. The tuna crudo flavor was amazing, however I would have liked the tuna to be cut a bit thicker. This could just be how the meal is supposed to be though. Over all I highly recommend!!! Overall, vibes are good and food is good. I would not say great, especially for cost. To start, the cocktails are delicious and priced on par with most speciality cocktails around town. The crab Rangoon is the best I've ever had in my life. The drunken noodles were not it. They lacked flavor and had fennel chunks (or something like it) and tomatoes (which I've never seen in drunken noodles) which threw off the texture experience on top of not having flavor or heat. I had a sip of my friend's Thai tea which I love, so this passed the test. Service was good. The place was still pretty new when I went so it felt like it was still a learning stage but that's okay. Alright let's dive into it, our Annual Galentine's Day we chose this lovely place. I love the service and atmosphere. Some of the foods were okay for our table but not something we would order again on our next visit but we did enjoy our time embracing the atmosphere. Parking may be a challenge if street and private lot is full but otherwise while we were there 15mins after opening on Sunday we found street/private lot parking free and easy to find.
