    Grilled pork banh mi
    Alicia W.

I'm grew up with a lot of Vietnamese friends back home and I love their food. Maui has always lacked high-quality Vietnamese food...that is until Aloha Pho Maui! The grilled pork banh mi was the first item I ever tried and I devoured it. The pork marinade was traditional--savory and slightly sweet. The pickled radish and carrots were fresh and flavorful and the bread was soft and fresh with a delicate crusty edge. The entire sandwich was phenomenal. The second time, I tried the fried spring rolls. They were perfectly and evenly rolled and filled with a delicious pork/glass noodle filling. The shell was light and flaky, not oily at all! You can tell that the owners put a lot of love and pride into making their food. This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant on the island and I cannot wait to try the rest of the items.

Decided to check out this place on opening day. Ordered the pho combination, summer roll, and bahn mi special sandwich. The summer roll was perfect, my favorite item I tried. The sandwich was pretty good although I've had better in Honolulu. Pho noodle is decent. Broth flavor was a little weak but I was surprised how much beef they gave. Was a lot of beef! Also get lots of sprouts and Thai basil and a real lime wedge instead of lemon, which you find a lot around Hawaii. I was one of the first customers, so had to be patient. Waited about 45 minutes for the food. Nice addition to the area with the lack of Vietnamese options. Definitely worth a try!

Growing up Vietnamese on Maui, it's been a hit or miss when it comes to really good Vietnamese food. Especially because it's hard to source certain herbs and technical skills. HOWEVER, this spot is legit. The owner has been on Maui for a long time now, and he's worked in restaurants before. I definitely trust his cooking, heck my mom trust him too (that says a lot!). Things to try: Banh Mi. Juicy, tender meat, that's not all fatty. Fresh herbs, veggies, and the bread is CRISPY and soft. It doesn't tear up the inside of your mouth. Of course, best when fresh. If you are getting it for later, ask for veggies on the side. Bun Bo - Pho's cousin. Everyone raves about pho, but you need to try this dish. Full of flavor, and he's not skimpy on the meats (obviously). Crispy Roast Pork (Thịt heo quay). Back in the days Wei Wei used to sell this the best. But over the years their quality changed, my mom would resort to getting their fix on Oahu. But his roast pork, is goooooood. It's so crispy, and tastes amazing. TRY his crispy roast pork banh mi. SO ONO. Plenty of places to sit.

It would be totally awesome if he had fresh squeezed, but understood the machine probably can't fit on the truck.

As the internet says, if there is a kid working the window at an Asian restaurant, the food is going to be good. There was no kid at the window to take my order. But get this, while eating I saw a kid walk off the truck, use the restroom and get back in. She's probably the chef, lololol. Jokes aside, the food was absolutely delicious and worht the wait. I got a sandwich with crispy ass pork and the loads of fresh and pickled veggies. My mom got broken rice with grilled pork ribs, vietnamese meatloaf and fried egg. Everything was so yummy, I would've had two sandwiches but my lock jaw and toothache prevented me from eating anything more. Food did take a while but well worth it. It took about 30 min from order to getting our meal, we got 4 menu items and the family ahead got 12, so it was a reasonable wait time considering it was delivered hot. They give you a buzzer that goes off when your food is ready. You have the option to eat here or they pack it up in bags for you to go. General info: There was ample shaded seats when we arrived after 1pm. Love that they provided a little cleaning station for the tables. There are about 7 trucks in total, but only 4 were open in the afternoon. Very limited parking spaces inside, about 10 but there is street parking. (A larger car is probably gonna hang out into the road so we didn't want to park outside.) There is also a clean restroom. It requires a code to get in, I like these because it keeps the crackheads out and restroom clean. They have this board game to play while you wait. (Not actually sure what it is actually, this lady was trying to teach her kid and I was watching but he didn't wanna play! Loser.) Lastly, cute little photo op area if you're into that. Besides Aloha Pho, there is was a Thai, Flipino/Local, taiwan/boba, Mexican, and crepe truck. Great variety of foods. Last thing I wanna share, I went to Vietnam for a month about 4 months prior to eating here. Vietnam food was really hit or miss, so I'm accustomed to really good and what is really bad. Aloha Pho Maui is high up there on the list of really good, great for us because Maui doesn't have a lot of great Vietnamese options. Will be back for sure.

    #17 Fried Noodles

Don't pay attention to that 1 star review. Don't even think about it until you've EATEN this food I've been all over Vietnam. I know the difference between good and bad Vietnamese food. Aloha Pho is ONLY one of two of the brand new Vietnamese restaurants (Other is Huong Nam) that opened recently to have Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodles). Theirs is AUTHENTIC and I LOVE adding the saté and the fermented fish paste (think of Filipino bagoong). The flavor is phenomenal and it's probably the only thing I have ever ordered the past 12 visits here in the last 2 months. Today I ordered a fried noodle #17 but I did not forget to grab a Bun Bo Hue as well Service with a smile from the owner as well ‍ Did not wait too long for piping hot food; delicious as always chef! Ambiance is getting better in the Tambayan food court! It's more on the property owners than the vendors themselves. There's much more parking now and finally MORE shaded areas than they used to have. I remember having to eat the hot soup in the hot sun but it's WORTH IT. Aloha

I come here with my family about 2x a week. I seriously want to try other things on the menu but can't stop ordering the sandwiches or the grilled pork and spring rolls with vermicelli noodles. Consistently amazing

If you love Vietnamese food--run don't walk to this amazing truck! Having traveled to Vietnam and grown up eating incredible Vietnamese food--Maui has been a sad scene for this incredible cuisine until Aloha Pho! I could hardly believe my taste buds the first time I tried it and quickly have made this a must-go stop for my entire pho loving extended family. Everyone echos the same thing--'this is the best pho and soup in Maui'. Things to try Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, any Pho, pepper salted shrimp!

It was a short 5 min hop over from the airport to Da Tambayan Corner and parking in the adjacent lot was easy. All the food trucks are ringed around the central tables and look for the aquamarine Da Soriano truck over by the road. Their food style is Filipino with a Hawaiian twist if you hadn't discerned it from their name. They have a build-your-own-combo grindz menu that you can pick a couple of proteins with rice options or check out the picture menu if you really don't know what to get. My wife went for the combo of Pork Adobo & Garlic Butter Shrimp with Mac & Green Salad, both very flavorful choices. Her friend went double pork action with Chinese Roast Pork Belly & Calamansi Grilled Pork Belly and Pancit Bihon Noodles as her side. The Chinese roast pork belly was as crispy good as any I've seen in any Chinatown. My Seafood Trio had a Miso Glazed Salmon Fillet, 3 Baked Mussels, 2 Shrimp Tempura and topped with Kaboyaki sauce & Thai Chili Aioli. The Shrimp were not the typical panko coated but battered and tasted good drizzled with the 2 sauces. The mussels are topped with a heavy cheesy mayo sauce and baked. Of course, it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch without a scoop of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. All this wasn't enough and our friend went back to chat with the chef and came back with a double serving of banana lumpia in crunchy spring roll wrap and drenched in heavy syrup. This was an excellent dessert and wrap up to a great lunch. We were so stuffed, we had to skip dinner!

Peeked their Instagram and saw a corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich. Say what? Less than 5 minutes later I was texting my order in. They are located in Kahului Industrial in the Ferguson's parking lot, across the way from Lee Bear's. It's a really, really random spot and parking could be a challenge if it gets busy. If it's slow, you could park right in front of the trailer. The family that runs this food trailer is born and raised in Guam and their menu features Chamorro cuisine like arrozcaldo, corn soup, etc. It didn't seem like it to me at first because everything was so so familiar to me, but my friend who was raised in Guam reminded me of how it's heavily Filipino influenced and mentioned that the grilled cheese sandwich was her childhood growing-up. No wonder (I'm Filipino)... Anywho, got my corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich! The corned beef isn't like your St. Patty's day corned beef, but more like the Palm brand canned corned beef. The bread was also slightly sweet and was the perfect vessel for all this deliciousness. The sandwich was so tasty and had the perfect amount of meat and cheese. Definitely a great way to start my morning and can't wait to have it again. My friend also recommended trying their corn soup & their red rice whenever it's available. Will definitely try those in the future too.

We have tried quite a few of the trucks and there were long lines and I was hungry so we drifted over to Kaipo's as they didn't have much of a line. Staff were ready for a laugh with us and we ordered the Shrimp Dynamite and the Rib Eye. They were quick to cook em up, just long enough for us to buy some pineapple lemonade from the stand next door (Wailemi). The food was MOUTH WATERINGLY GOOD. I cannot understand how they didn't have a long line!! People are missing out here! My Shrimp Dynamite was served in a small container, full of melty mushroomy goodness, with crunchy courgette, shrimp cooked to perfection and a creamy sauce on top. It wasn't as hot as I like, but I only deem something spicy when I can't feel the front of my face and steam is coming out of my ears so perhaps it is spicy enough for the general public. Nevertheless it was DROOLWORTHY, so good I had to share a single piece of courgette with my husband, but that was all he was getting! No more, Nada, nope. All mine! Hubbs didn't take long to demolish his with gusto, and he was 110% satisfied with dinner. Meat was cooked just right. We liked the scoop of macaroni salad, and the green salad with mustard dressing and scoop of rice that came with each dish. All were delicious and complimentary to each other.
