She was ready for my daughter right on the dot for her appointment time and she went straight to prepping. Not only is Aminata sweet, respectful, gentle, professional, and quite fast I might add, but she makes you feel right at home as well. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist! When it came to picking out the colour for the braiding hair, I actually always go with either a #1B or #2 for my daughter, but as the professional Aminata is, she chose a #4 instead, which turned out to be a perfect match. I had no idea! It didn't stop there though. She not only asked for my opinion; she also made sure my daughter was comfortable with the choice as well. I've never seen a stylist ask an 11 year old for a second opinion. Aminata made my daughter feel significant and gave her confidence since she was the one sitting in Aminata's chair. That's EXTREMELY important to me, because my husband and I are raising our kids to know that they matter and they have a voice. We teach our children to speak up and she gave that opportunity to my daughter without me even saying one word about it. Although she's closed today (which made me remember to write a review in the first place), I plan to call tomorrow to book another appointment for my other daughter. I really hope she does locks because my husband wants to start going to her along with my son after hearing about my daughter's experience. This has nothing to do with her as a professional, but I have to speak about her character. We had a long conversation about countless topics. Within those conversations, I've concluded that Aminata has a heart of gold! She's sweet, understanding, patient, aspiring and inspiring, and has the best intentions for our children and humanity as a whole. She spoke with a passion you can't fake. Sadly, my experience with this salon was the worst I have ever had with a professional salon for…read moremany reasons. I went to Sheria for hair regrowth after wearing wigs and losing my hair. Sheria was very knowledgeable and I was pleasantly surprised to see my hair begin to regrow so quickly. I was not expecting to see results for about six months and I saw progress much sooner than I expected (please remember hair restoration still takes time and it is important to not expect miracles). Sheria never sent me pictures full pictures that she took during my initial consultation. She only sent me pics of a problem area/scalp condition so I could show my dermatologist, but never pics of my full scalp. I asked for these pics so I could document my journey. Whenever I asked for pics, Sheria would say I was expecting miracles. Not true, I was only trying to document my journey and I actually saw progress sooner than I expected. On my last visit, Sheria finally pulled up my pics on her iPad and let me take pictures of those with my phone. I thanked her for helping me document my progress. The most disturbing part of my experience was not about pictures. It was that I received sores from her treatments. The first time I had a scalp sore, I did not think much of it. This last treatment, I did not know I had another sore until I got home and put up my hair for bed. I am not sure if Sheria noticed the sore, but I will say that all of a sudden before I left she recommended that I put on hydrocortisone ointment on my scalp because my scalp needed healing. This had never been mentioned in the months prior and she even gave me the ointment free of charge. Sheria put the ointment on my scalp before I left. Now I know why. (See pic). I was traveling after my appointment so I did not have the opportunity to tell her about the sore. However, the day after my appointment Sheria abruptly sent me a text long after business hours saying she decided I would be better off at another salon, with no explanation. This was a surprise since I had told her before I left that I was pleased with the regrowth progress I had seen so soon. Also, I was charged different prices for the same hair service. I never questioned her about pricing. I just paid and tipped. I would like to mention that her salon was very clean, which is important to me. However, the one star rating is for her lack of professionalism, poor communication skills, treatments that she mixes herself that are so intense they cause sores, and dropping a client who expressed thanks to her for her services (this was before I found the last sore).

The older front desk lady was quite rude and loud about it- very brusque. I didn't want to make it more overwhelming as it already was with the confusing situation. However, I'd like to request management to ensure front desk staff be trained with friendly customer service for paying clients especially if they aren't aware of your custom. I'd like to continue seeing the person I saw next time around but I wouldn't come on the day the old rude lady is there.
