Before the appointment, Chandler took time to do a consultation to clearly understand the look I wanted, so I definitely recommend being specific about your goals. I kept most of my length while rounding out the shape of my curls, and although I'm still getting used to the cut, I really love how healthy and vibrant the color looks! Everyone here has been really nice and I'm only leaving review because I would have wanted to know. I am a blonde and like a smudged root to have easy grow out but I've never had this issue at other salons in past where they just don't highlight or tone it correctly for grow out. I do not recommend Brian to cut anyone with curls. He couldn't do mine. Instead I had a completely different hair style and I'm struggling to work with it. The style doesn't look on me. My appointment was about 45 minutes later than it was meant to be, but since it was a Friday, and it was extra busy, I didn't mind. 3-4 inches more of my hair were cut off than we talked about at the beginning, which was a little disappointing, as well, since I love my hair long. WORST SALON EXPERIENCE! I was so excited to get my hair colored, but after two attempts of toner, my hair stylists still did not manage to get the color to where I wanted it. When the owner came by to talk to me I told her what color hair I wanted. She repeatedly told me several times that this is what I wanted. How are you going to speak for a client? She kept telling me over and over again, showing me the photos I sent. We kept going back and forth telling her it was still too dark. I just stopped talking and decided to let her manage her clients poorly. You are the owner, you are supposed to make you customers happy! I work in customer service and I also have over 170k followers. Always make your customer happy and never speak FOR them. I almost cried. I am never going back here ever again! You shouldn't too, if they mess up, they will tell you that you wanted it that way. Oh and they will charge you the FULL AMOUNT. This was my second visit to this salon. The first time was just a cut and this time cut and color both with Cat. They called and asked if I could come early the morning of my appt, I happily obliged. I was taken promptly, but she was not very personable during the appt so I figured she was having a bad/busy day. She colored and cut my hair and although it seemed fast it looked ok at the salon. I got home to realize my hair was uneven in several spot (see attached pics) and there was NO noticeable color on one side of my head. Had an awesome experience here! Kolby, Regan, and Jenni (hope I spelled all their names right!) were welcoming and encouraging about the new look I wanted. Everyone was masked and the shop was beautiful, clean, had hand sanitizer, and clients were kept socially distanced. I wore my mask throughout. Years ago, the first time I ever wanted my hair cut short, stylists in multiple locations refused because of my curls saying I'd "look like a boy." It was so discouraging. Here, the curl specialists (both Kolby and Jenni) looked at the photos I wanted (by this point I've had short cuts before, so that eased any worries that I might dislike such a big change :) ) and were so kind and supportive. Jenni did my cut and it was great, done dry because of my curls, and then washed, treated, styled, and detailed. She was always willing to answer my questions about product and maintenance and narrate a bit about what she was doing at different points in the process and why, and asking for my feedback. It was great to feel like I had options from start to finish. I left feeling light and free in my new cut, and smelling incredible thanks to the clean products used from Cult & King, of which I brought 2 home with me! I found Inspire Salon through an Instagram search for organic/clean salons. I have been trying to find a stylist who can do a shag/mullet style razor cut. I tried two haircuts with two stylists locally and they were not quite right. I perused through Inspire photos to find cuts that looked like the style I was going for, and that's how I found Cat Chehayl @cat_chehayl_hair. I messaged her directly to gauge how comfortable she was with the cut I was asking for--we exchanged messages and I sent inspiration photos and current photos of my hair. She recommended a time for me to schedule my appointment based on my current length--we booked one month out. I live in Pittsburgh, so I was making this a mini hair vacation. I booked an Airbnb and off to Ellicott City I went. Cat took quite a bit of time with me, we revisited my inspiration photos and we discussed which would work best with my texture and, voila, I walked out with one of the best cuts I've had in years. I think razor cuts and the shag/mullet (shullet) style is one a stylist really needs to love doing--otherwise, they are going through the motions of {shoulder shrug} "Yeah I can do that." These cuts are sculptural and seem to require more of a deft, painterly hand. Cat has the love for the style and the skill to match. If a razor cut is what you seek, Cat is here for you. She is a talent. My cut was worth the 3+ hour drive. The atmosphere is quite nice as well--collaborative, supportive and, indeed, inspired. This salon is literally perfect in every aspect you can think of, from the quality of work to the customer service there's nothing that isn't over the top, best service you'll ever receive. I've had my hair cut, colored, and had extensions put in all by Cat and I'm confident I'll never go anywhere else. If I move, I'll fly back just for this salon. I had 18" tape in extensions put in and unfortunately had a reaction to the shampoo. (I have sensitive skin, no fault of the salon) when I told them they did a ton of research to find me a new option, they gave me new shampoo and conditioner AND returned the shampoo I'm allergic to. Whats even better than the fact that they went above and beyond for the shampoo is the fact that they really do genuinely care that you're happy and healthy! Can we talk about amazing service?! I highly recommend this salon! Jenni is a true master of her craft. I have very natural curly hair and am oblivious to how to care for it. Her 'New Curl Cut,' is so educational, and relaxing, and transforming! I walked in with a huge head of straggly frizz, and left with the most gorgeous soft defined curls, so very pretty. Update: The service and quality of work has unfortunately drastically declined at this salon. On multiple occasions they incorrectly recorded my appointment times and each time I was not only forced to reschedule weeks out, but I was threatened with having to pay a cancellation fee the next time they mixed up my appointment. No apology, instead they insinuated I was lying and brought up a past cancellation (of which there was one in the multiple years I was their client) to somehow prove their point. I had been a loyal customer for years without issue so for them to behave this way was perplexing. After I posted this review the owner reached out to me and explained their cancellation policy yet again (unfortunately she still doesn't understand my issue is with their lack of accountability, NOT their cancellation policy, which by the way I can now repeat verbatim after hearing it 76 times...) and apologized "if they caused any mistakes with my appointments". Sadly she still can't take responsibility. In her first email she acknowledged I only "missed" one appointment due to their scheduling error yet here she says multiple appointments as if it were a recurring thing. It's never smart to blame the client, especially when it is your mistake. If this is your idea of good customer service, by all means try this salon, but the bottom line is I DEFINITELY wasn't happy with this establishment's customer service and would not recommend it to anyone. I've tried about every place in the area and I've appreciate so much how much attention she pays to me when I'm in her chair. She never rushes me or pushes me to try new styles. I also appreciate how she doesn't take off more length than I want. I've been to a lot of other hair dressers that will just cut off so much extra length and I'm shocked when I see it! If I could rate this 0, I would. I tried to wait to write this review until I had a little space from the terrible experience I just had. First of all I own that I was late to my appointment because of the traffic and rain; however, I've never been treated so poorly and I've lived in New York City and DC and had 1 million places that I've gone to that are far nicer with more experienced staff than this place. Second, I was charged a high rate for the alleged advanced stylist; however she double booked an appointment so she didn't even tend to me more than 10 minutes. She had someone help her put the color in my hair and then proceeded to sit on her phone in the back room while she told me how busy she was and had another person that she needed to help, who I did later see her working with after id say there for 45 minutes while she was MIA. . She sent over a receptionist or an assistant with probably zero experience to wash my hair out and after not even acknowledging or addressing me, the young girl dried my hair with a towel, leaving it in a wet lump, not even brushing it out, and then said "you're all set". So in the hour I was there in the over $100 I paid I didn't have any interaction hardly with the "" advanced stylist." And then when she asked me how I thought the color came out and I was separating my soaking wet hair to look at it I was like "oh I think it came out OK" laughs, and she says, l"I use the exact formula that you've had in the past" as if responding to me in a way as though I was critiquing her which I wasn't. This was just a horrible mismatch and personality conflict from the start but additional rude comments that were made. First as she was sifting through my hair to put the color on it and it was tangled in so she commented on "how tangled my hair was" and then laughed. I didn't say anything but I was thinking yeah because every time I come to a salon the first thing they do is say hello, ask me how I'm doing, touch my hair brush my hair and then get started and she did absolutely NONE of this. Second, she asked me how long she was supposed to leave the color in as if I am the person who is a professional hairstylist. Shouldn't she know that in general but especially as an advanced stylist?? I mean I do have a PhD but I don't do hair. So I suggested 40 to 45 minutes because that's what my previous stylists have done and she was like "Yea I MEAN WITH YOUR AMOUNT OF GREY HAIR", which was hilarious to me because I don't perceive myself to have a ton of gray hair yet so it's certainly coming in in my late 30s. :) But the way she said it and how rude it was on top of making a comment about my tangled hair which she didn't brush or comb before she started putting the color in just made me laugh out loud at how ridiculously bitchy she was and I don't know if it was elitism or awkwardness but I wanted to be like you work at a rural Maryland hair place in the middle of a strip mall. My mistake for coming here next time I'd rather go spend a little bit more in DC where are used to go where at least they're professional and have talent and are not rude as hell. Strongly do not recommend. Spend your money elsewhere where people will be kind, talk to me and not send me out with sopping wet hair washed by a 19 year old that I could have done myself. Lastly when I got in the car I started laughing because I called my friend to tell her how ridiculous this experience was on FaceTime and we both realized that I still had color lining my face because they couldn't even be bothered to wash that off the side of my face. After not coloring my hair for 5 months, I went to see Inspire Hair Salon's top stylist Laura. I explicitly stated that I wanted my hair color to be one level LIGHTER than my original which is medium brown/w salt and pepper, After showing her numerous pictures and explicitly detailing what i wanted. Senior stylist, Laura said she knew what she was doing and would give me a beautiful chestnut hair color. After it was done my hair was PITCH BLACK. I called to raise my concerns. I detailed it one by one and even send in my picture. Response was, you asked for a darker shade (no i did not), I also got a comment "so WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR HAIR!? (ummm IT IS PITCH BLACK) and was suggested to come in for a shampoo treatment which would lighten my hair a half a shade lighter. This was their solution. read more

My haircut with Christine was disappointing. Christine spent about 10 minutes on some generic layering, and it was honestly the worst my hair has ever looked upon leaving a salon. I was in shock that I was being sent out in public like that. She insisted the layers would fall into place once they were wetted again. When they did "fall into place" later, my layers on one side are an inch lower than the other side, and look like stair steps. I'm tidying it up myself, but what a waste of $62. On a side note, I was unable to relax and enjoy my hair being handled, as she would turn the chair abruptly, which was rather jolting. I want to start off with the positives. First, The lady that cut my hair was super kind. Second, there was no problem in the washing nor cutting process, it wasn't rushed nor harsh. But unfortunately, I just didn't get what I asked for. We first discussed what I wanted and I showed her two pictures which where at shoulder length. Instead, I got super short bob length hair. The first chop was the exact length I wanted but then it got shorter and shorter. I tried to love the cut after a few days but I think that I shouldn't have to try to love something I didn't ask for. I scheduled an appt for a curly cut with Koby via email with the owner. Included in the email we're pictures of my current curls as well as pictures for reference as to what I was hoping to achieve. I book two separate appts. One for the initial cut and a follow up for color. When I arrived the salon was nice enough although I waited awhile for a 2:15 appt. When I met Koby she was nice enough. We discussed what my expectations for the appt were and got started with the cut. During the hair cut I asked her if she had looked a my reference images sent in the email and she replied that she routinely does not look at emails from clients but knew what I was looking for. Obviously she did not! I have worn my hair curly exclusively for about 8 years and this is the worst cut I've ever had. I was hopeful it would grow on me. I usually am not a fan of my hair the day it is washed but it looks good by day 2, however that is not the case. Shrinkage was not accounted for at all! To add insult to injury she was going to cut my bangs shorter but I requested that she not. The entire time she was styling my hair after the cut she kept saying "pretty" but I'm unsure who she was trying to convince, me or herself.Honestly I'm soooo disappointed, she got me out here looking like Lord Farquaad from shrek. I needed a short hairstyle. I'm older and have had pretty much the same tapered hairstyle (longer on top w tapered sides all around) since my wavy to frizzy hair started thinning. The first stylist and I had a nice long conversation about what I wanted and she then gave me a "Bixie" which was not good with my hair (long pieces on the sides and a really short V in the back) and included elements I told her I didn't want. I had to go to another salon to trim the weird extra long wisps on the sides (looked like frizzy sideburns you see on historical portraits of old men). Then I weirdly made another appointment at the same salon w a different stylist who specializes in short styles. She also gave me a semi-Bixie, cutting the back of my hair so short that it made my round head look flat at the back. Again w longer hair frizzing on the sides. The salon is clean, the staff very pleasant. They do an excellent job w longer hair. The Bixie looks good w thick, dense hair that isn't thinning and frizzy I'd wager. Just a very unfortunate style for me especially since I told both stylists that the short style with long sides and a really short "stacked" back is what I didn't want. So... if you want a Bixie (a bob on the sides and sort of Pixie in the back), this is your salon! read more

She is incredibly talented, kind, and committed to making sure her customers are happy. Having lived in NYC for 10 years, I was worried about finding a comparable salon in Maryland with quality stylists who know the trends. Thankfully, I found Inspire Salon, actually I've been following some of these stylists since before they opened when they were at a different salon as long as 7 years ago. Kathleen, the owner, has done a wonderful job of creating a cohesive team with the perfect blend of style, expertise and friendly customer service. They always seem to be upping their game with more specialized training for the stylists. My daughter, sister, mother, husband and I have all had good experiences here with Elizabeth, Jenni, Kathleen, Cat and Laura. I currently go to Laura who is just a real artist. I have black colored hair with some whites poking through now that I'm in my 40s and she does an amazing job helping me to hide them with balayage highlights! She also is a wealth of knowledge, anytime I ask her for advice with a hair issue, she gives me the best tips on how to use hair products, what type of cut would works best for me, etc. For those of you that have kiddos, I wanted to mention how warm and welcoming they are with kids. A few of the stylists are mothers and I think that adds something special but I think all the stylists are good with kids regardless. Now I wouldn't say bring a loud, restless child who needs a buzz cut to this place but if you have a young budding fashionista of a daughter with thick long hair that needs to be tamed like my daughter, she'll really love this place! The other Laura who works the front desk always greets you with a smile and is wonderful at making appointments.
