Hey folks! I checked Yelp for smog only stations last week when I needed to get my Land Cruiser smogged. I ran across Igor's business when reading a 'bad' review by someone who seems to me like they were perhaps trying to get a modified vehicle smogged and Igor turned away some business. I interpreted this as a business owner who cared about his reputation and in my mind wouldn't do shoddy work. I am also a business owner and appreciated Igor's integrity. It's true.. .Igor did something I haven't encountered before - he checked to make sure the Land Cruiser hadn't been modified before doing any work on it. When all was said and done, Igor provided me with excellent service, and when my 2011 BMW 335D needs smogging in a couple of weeks, Igor will have more of my business. I have been going to this place for years and always have had a good experience. On my last visit my reliable truck "Failed" the test... follow me here, I know what you're thinking. I am not simply angry because my vehicle failed even though it didn't really fail. The young man tells me, "It failed, it wasn't ready". Naturally I ask what does that mean... it's not ready? He asks if I had changed the battery or had engine work recently and yes, I told him my starter was changed. He then says "well it takes 100 miles for your computer to reset. I am quite sure this little game is played at every smog shop. You telling me they ALL can't have a sign or ask that one simple question which could avoid a big waste of money, they have a HUGE sign letting you know that you pay, pass or fail. This feels like a scam which I am sure they all play and happens all the time. More of a heads up than a rating. read more

Pulled in for a smog check dude at the window right of the bat came of rude wouldn't even look me in the eyes half the time he was talking to me (guy with the thick accent) Literally told me he thought my car wouldn't pass because it was a two door sports car, and didn't want to come out and look at it but eventually agreed to go out and check it out. He looked at my exhaust and headers and said he didn't want to test it because he was pretty sure my particular car (2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8) was suppose to come with 4 Catalytic converters I'm not an exhaust expert but that's straight BS and then he said even if I were to change that he wouldn't test it because he thought I would go and add illegal exhaust afterwards even tho there was a for sale sign right on the window. I took the beater in for a test only smog check with the hopes of getting her registered again with DMV. I've taken our cars here before and the service was great! They have a small waiting area with several chairs and a couch. You can watch TV and pour yourself a nice hot cup of coffee while you wait. I was eager to find out the test results. As I paced back and forth, it took about fifteen minutes when I got the word. She passed the emissions test, but failed the monitor test. I was told that I needed to cruise her around for at least a hundred miles and to try again. Overall score failed. I'm disappointed but not surprised given her age and condition. For more than a decade, our Honda served us well. At this point I'm thinkin' whether I should continue to spend more dough on her or just put her out of her misery. Anyway, I'm a fan of this place. It took them only 20 minutes to get my car smog tested, which I think is pretty convenient. I forgot to bring my DMV paperwork, but they were pretty nice about my mistake and just asked for registration. Stopped by Mission Solano Thrift Store just to waste some time, came back to the garage, and voila - car was ready to go. Fortunately, my trooper of a car passed her smog test. Woohoo! I paid more than $50, but according to my dad, that's pretty standard. I won't need to come back for a while, but I highly recommend this place. read more

I have an old Toyota truck that requires a smog every two years and I was not going to pay $90.00 to $100.00 to smog it at some fancy smog place. I told the smog technician about Yelp and he gave me a fantastic price. Way less then I would have paid in the Bay Area. Yay for discounts! My truck passed without any problems and I was sure glad. A Test Only has a clean waiting room with cable TV and those guy types of magazines such as Cycle World, ESPN, Sports Illustrated and Autoweek. Not family circle magazines from ten years ago. This was a great location located on the west side of North Texas. The facility was very clean. I only waited about 10 minutes total between the time that I arrived, signed the paperwork and the smog test was done. Mr. Morris was very friendly and professional. They also have a warm waiting room with a TV for while your waiting! Don't hesitate to head on in and have your A-Test only smog check done here. Had used this shop for a few years. Went in a week ago with my diesel. Had made a cosmetic swap of the rear pipes but no changes to the emissions at all. Would not even look at it, said it was illegal and declined to do the test. Don't use this shop go elsewhere, someplace that will actually take a look and see you didn't change any of the important stuff before saying no. Terrible service. read more

Not the cheapest but with reasonable prices, these guys are competent and courteous. My car had been worked on recently and so one of the "emissions readiness" readings was incomplete, but unlike another nearby test station they were able to do the test anyway. Prices posted in the waiting room are excessive and do not reflect a $25 "discount" that, it appears, is given to everyone. It was a chilly January morning and it would have been nice if the waiting room had heat and/or coffee. read more

My usual place was closed, so I pulled out my trusty Yelp app and found this one a little ways down the road. Walked in and saw that there was a person waiting already and two more in line and almost left in search of less of a wait, but decided to stick it out. I was impressed that it still only took them 30 mins to handle business. While I was waiting I saw a sign in the lobby for a Yelp discount, and sure enough they obliged. Used this station a few years ago. Great. Today I arrived at 8:30. no one there. they gave me an estimate, took my info, made me sign. said it'd be 10 min. I waited 20 min. and the guy comes out and says they can't do it. Machine isn't working. Didn't they know that BEFORE they gave me the quote and wasted my time?! I was really pleased with the service I received at A Test Only! Called at lunch to see if they were busy or had time to get my car in during my lunch hour. It was no problem and I was in and out of there within 20 minutes. Customer service was great! It was under $50 with the certificate included. I was visiting some family friends in town and my car was due for a smog check. I browsed through the Fairfield Smart Shopper and decided to check out A Test Only and another facility listed in the magazine. Both had coupons listed and are located in the same area on N. Texas St. I called A Test Only and Justin was kind enough to tell me his hours, pointed out that they have a $25.00 off online coupon, and quoted me a price with and without the coupon. Take note, smog prices depend on your type of vehicle and the year. I then called the other coupon offering smog center and didn't walk away with the "I'm taking my car here!" attitude. Whoever answered the phone was clearly busy and doing his best to speak over the noisy garage, but combined with his accent, was hard to understand. Sure they quoted a lower listed price than A Test Only, but no mention of their coupon to help save me money. Ultimately I chose A Test Only due to online reviews and a personal recommendation by family friends. When I finally found the place (tucked behind another smog looking place) I went inside, handed over my DMV paperwork (for them to scan once the vehicle passes) and waited about 20 minutes for them to test my car. The young man who greeted me was very polite and professional, and even kept his cool when dealing with a difficult patron. Clients have the option of watching TV and pouring themselves a cup of coffee while they wait. Waiting room chairs are fold out plastic picnic chars - nothing fancy - and one had a dirty coffee stick on it. I elected to pass on the coffee personally. The reception area with the coffee looked clean enough, but when I look up, there are dusty cobwebs in the corners and ceiling. All that dust and bug parts has to land someplace after all. No Free Wi-Fi as you wait, which is a bummer for me. I'm probably being nit picky about the waiting room, but I am spoiled by my car dealership, so this may not be a fair comparison. read more

I found this place via internet. Called and they said it's first come, first served--no appointments. They were nice on the phone. I brought in my six year old car for its first smog check. Igor checked me in. He was very friendly, courteous and professional and answered all my questions. I was there for LESS than 15 minutes from the time I checked in. My car passed the smog check and they sent the results to the DMV immediately and informed me that the DMV will take up to 7 days to process the info and complete my registration. The waiting room was clean and the service was quick and affordable. I highly recommend this place and I trust these guys. I will be coming back for future smog checks. Thanks, guys! read more

I drove down to Fairfield, hesitantly searching for a decent smog place. Being an out-of-state gal I was really worried the whole process would be a big failure and I didn't want to get stuck with a 50 dollar bill and no certification.. Even if the next one was free! No Way! I stopped by the Smog King. Took one look at their packed parking lot and sketchy shop.. Immediately turned around. Bump that! I remember seeing this shop in the top reviews on yelp, so I headed over here. Turning in, this place was hidden, and a little hard to find. Figured it out fast enough. Went in. I'm not sure whom I was greeted by, but he was a bit aloof. I honestly don't care about smiles and fake gestures of sincerity.. I just want the job done! So if you're looking for that, you'll probably hate this place. I'm not going to lie, being a woman in such a sketchy area.. then just handing over my keys to guys I don't know, and not knowing what they're doing.. It's scary. But I hung in there anyway! Gotta do what I gotta do! The waiting room leaves much to be desired, but I was thankfully not in there for long! 10 minutes. It took me longer to drive here then it did to get it smogged! They did what they had to do in a superb amount of time. We made friendly small talk afterwards about my Texas plates, paid my 50 bucks (which I admit is a bit pricey for a smog test compared to other shops around) and I was outta' there! If you want it done, you want it done right the first time, and you don't care about the bells and whistles of major corporations.. This is your place! Excellent Customer Service! Derrick was awesome! I had recently had my car serviced and the dealer disconnected my battery which cased me a few small smog issues. I called A Test Only for information and the person that answered the phone was friendly and professional. When I took my car down the next day it took only 20 minutes. I stayed in the waiting room and the gentlemen turned up the air conditioner before going out to retrieve my car. I thought that was cool, pun intended.
