We moved into our home near Lake Travis on April 1 and signed up with Justice Pest for all the…read morebells and whistles -- including their extra mosquito service -- expecting reliable protection and peace of mind. What we got instead was a complete nightmare. From the first visit, things felt off. The technician was in and out in record time. When I asked about the mosquito treatment, he literally said, "I'm not sure it's worth it to treat for mosquitos because of your property and the trees, but if you want..." Uh, yes -- the trees and the setting are exactly why we need it! That should have been the first red flag. After the initial treatment, our yard was still covered in spider webs -- all over the door frames -- and I found an expired wasp nest under a light fixture. Gross, but I figured maybe that's just Austin. (Spoiler: it's not.) To make things even more confusing, they told me the previous homeowners had also used them for treatment. How!? If that's true, why are there webs and nests everywhere? Why does it look like the place has been ignored for months? That comment alone made me seriously question what they actually do during visits. Three weeks in, I lifted a tennis racket in the garage and a huge cockroach fell out. That was it. I called, and they sent the same tech back. When I told him what happened, he looked me in the eye and said: "You live in Texas now. This is normal. You'll see them, even inside your house. If you keep calling me, I'll put you on a blacklist." Excuse me? That's your professional response? He sprayed again -- quickly and half-heartedly -- and left. I hoped it was resolved. Nope. When we moved here from LA, we both got brand-new cars -- year 2025, never owned -- parked in our garage. Soon after, I noticed spider webs inside my SUV. Took it to get professionally detailed. The webs came back. Looked closer at the garage door inside -- egg sacs and webs everywhere. I was still paying $89 a month for this "service." And then the final straw: driving this morning, three spiders came down from the ceiling of my car while I was behind the wheel. I nearly swerved off the road and went into a full-blown allergy attack. I cancelled Justice Pest the moment I got home. Pure laziness. No follow-through. Zero accountability. If you live in the Lakeway area -- save yourself the stress and do NOT use them. I've switched to Austin Pest and finally feel like someone is taking the job seriously.

I'm trying to understand why my experience is so different from these 5 star reviews…read more. After talking to a few pest companies, not only did they get the species of ants wrong (acrobat vs carpenter) which affects the bait being used, but they also can't get their story straight. I contacted them about an ant infestation inside my home. The technician who came out placed sugar bait inside to eliminate colony. He told me that an exterior treatment was not necessary at that time. I accepted that recommendation, due to potential exposure for my active dog. Months later, I called to follow up because the ant problem had not been resolved. I was then told the $216.50 treatment of simply adding sugar bait for the interior also included exterior treatment during the original visit. That was surprising because I was never told an exterior treatment had been done. When I asked where it had been applied, they did not give me a clear answer regarding the exterior. Paying for another treatment isn't the issue. If the ants require another visit, I'm happy to pay for it. My concern is that the explanation of what was actually done has changed. Now, they're saying I have to pay another $216 for their services again. Something just isn't adding up. If there's a reasonable explanation, I'd like to hear it. Based on the conflicting information, I have little confidence in their service.

Over…read morethe past several visits, Doug G, Carlos R, and Jeffrey R have each come to my home for either quarterly maintenance or targeted treatments, and they've all been professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. One thing I really appreciated was that they identified a honey bee colony on my property. Instead of simply treating it, they let me know so I could have the bees safely rehomed before they started producing honey inside my walls. That level of care and attention really stood out. The quarterly exterior treatments have been well worth it for me. Wasps and ants are a recurring issue around my home, so keeping up with regular service has made a big difference. If I have a specific problem between visits, like a wasp nest, they're quick to come out and take care of it. Most of what I need is included in the annual service. Mosquito treatment is an additional charge, but that's separate from the standard plan. I also appreciate that they don't push unnecessary interior treatments when there aren't any issues. Their pricing is competitive, and their payment and scheduling system is excellent. It's easy to manage appointments, and they're very responsive by text whenever I have a question or need service. Overall, I've been very happy with Atex and would definitely recommend them.

We've been happy customers of Stride since June 2018 and can safely say that Stride is a top pest…read morecontrol service in the Austin area. Our favorite part is you can shoot them a quick text with a picture of the problem, and they'll schedule an appointment, all over text! We pay for the regular treatments, but if critters start popping up between the service, they'll come out and re-treat (usually for free) - we cannot recommend Stride enough, if you're on the fence and reading this right now, you won't make the wrong decision to go with Stride. All of the technicians have been stellar, but specifically I wanted to mention Burton - he has come to our house on multiple occasions and is always very polite, informative and thorough. Burton always goes the extra mile to check everything out around the house before he leaves, beyond the areas we've mentioned, and always chats with me on his way out to let me know what was applied, how it was applied, and any follow up steps (an engineer's dream). He even mentioned we should shoot him/Stride a text in 1-2 weeks to let him know if our attic ant issue is resolved. Thank you Burton! Stride really cares about their customers, and they do a killer job. There's a reason they are rated 5.0 stars on Google, Yelp & Facebook, and not 4.9 or lower.

The overall rating of this business is five stars. I decided to scan through the over 160 reviews…read moreand discovered that most of them were written by people with less than 20 reviews to their name. I tend to dismiss those reviews since they don't really have much skin in the Yelp game. There were just two elite reviews and that was a red flag to me as well. Nonetheless, I decided to give this company a chance and got a same day appointment to rid us of our carpenter ant issue. We've had carpenter ants running up and down our garage exterior for a long time and in the last few days we've had flying ants show up in our living room. It was time to bring in the pros. One thing you need to be aware of is that you can schedule an appointment for this service, but like most pest control companies, they will insist on a quarterly service agreement on top of the initial service. Our initial service cost was $134 which included a $75 discount that came with a $53 monthly payment for each quarterly visit. That comes to over $700 a year ( not including termite issue) for the basic service which does not apply to fire ants. Since I accepted the discounted initial service I had to sign up for a years worth of service before I had the option to cancel. That's something you need to keep in mind because that's a lot of money just to snuff out a few ants. The one and done service doesn't really pay the bills, it's the subscription service that drives the business. My same day appointment was scheduled between noon and three, they ( tech +trainee) showed up shortly after two. I let the tech know about the ant issue and we walked around the perimeter of the property while he swept away wasp nests. Inside he sprayed some powder in the upstairs attic while looking for any possible rodent infestation. The tech did spot some termite activity at the corner of the garage. After spraying the perimeter and infected areas with poison, he then treated the yard with ant bait that looked like Andro. We decided against spraying chemicals indoors due to sensitivities. The discovery of termites greatly added to the bill as pictured below. I'll go ahead and get the termite service and the quarterly check up during the contract period. I thought I would include all the bills and pertinent information so that you can get some idea of what you might experience. One thing that did catch me off guard was that after they left, I received a brief survey which then led me to a tip screen for the tech. It's not that he didn't deserve a tip, it was just the first time I had seen this form of online solicitation. Overall great experience with knowledgeable and friendly techs, not real happy about being funneled into a monthly payment plan for quarterly visits, but we'll see where that leads. Check out the photos. Possible updates may follow.....perhaps leading to a 5th star.
