My colleague let me try her steak with garlic cheese topped...OMG!!!! The sides...multi colored carrots on a pesto base, shaved Brussels and garlic mash! It was so delish that I actually asked to give thanks to the chef that created all these masterpieces and Chef Matt came to the table and I didn't know where to start with the praise but I am glad I had the chance to truly appreciate the masterpiece menu! Best bourbon list in southern Maine and New Hampshire. Steaks were good, but pricey, a little too much salt for my taste. Service was good a little slow sometimes but that's to be expected. Room was a bit crowded, but everyone was cordial. My wife had some dietary problems later on in the evening. Not sure what caused it. I was fine. What a phenomenal experience! From the moment we walked in - being greeted by Nick the owner, Gabe the bartender, the owners wife, and our waitress - service was exceptional. We arrived early to our reservations to spend time at the beautiful bar and get a flight of bourbon. Their selection is amazing !! They also carry two single barrel picks from Old Forester and Markers Mark. The flights are very reasonable. Sitting at the bar chopping it up with Gabe is what really made the experience. Such an asset to the restaurant. He even made my wife an off the menu cocktail that she absolutely loved! After spending some time at the bar our table was ready. Our waitress was so nice and kind. Attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy but felt special. Food was great, they accommodated all our requests, and never made us feel like we were being rushed. We had an exceptional meal on New Year's Eve at Nicks. Upon walking in we were greeted warmly by the hostess and a waitress. We were seated in the enclosed patio which was so warm and cozy. Our server Katie was very sweet and helpful. The bread service was pretzel bites with a truffle cheese dip. TO DIE FOR. The apps - French Onion soup, wedge salad and tuna tartar - also delicious. Best tuna tartar I've ever had. Tuna was very fresh. Entrees were a ribeye and NY Strip. Both cooked to perfection, seasoned well and all around so tasty. My husband and I each got sauce on the side, but it was not needed. The steaks were just so good on their own. Sides were just as good. Green beans cooked perfectly, twice baked potato was big and delicious, covered in cheese and crunchy bacon bits. Cocktails were on point. One of the best Old Fashions I've had. Dessert was a GIANT piece of chocolate hazelnut cake. OH MY was it good. Moist and chocolatey with crunchy hazelnuts in the frosting layers. I was soo pumped to snag a reservation there last minute on NYE, and my oh my we cannot WAIT to go back. We've tried most restaurants in the Ogunquit/Wells/York area, and this by far is our favorite. My girlfriends and I went to Nick's last month on a Friday night during a weekend trip to Maine. Our server was super friendly and gave us lots of time to select drinks and apps/entrees. One of the girls chose a specialty gin cocktail but was unable to drink it as it was so strong. She ended up ordering a different beverage - although we told the waitress that the drink tasted like pure alcohol and only a sip was taken from it, there was no offer to comp the drink. Our appetizers and bread were the best part of the meal, particularly the cheesesteak egg rolls. Steaks were not cooked right and sides were just okay. The homemade cake was delicious! Unfortunately, we expected more from Nick's based on prices along (as they are more in line with a Boston steakhouse than a Maine steakhouse). read more

Horses and wait staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We were seated quickly and settled in with drinks while we waited for the last two of our party who were running behind. I tried the Maine Lemonade, honestly not a fan. I like the idea of it but thought it tasted like seawater with blueberries floating in it. I ordered a dirty martini and was much happier with that choice. Classic and well made so kudos to the bartender. Appetizers were stuffed meatballs (delicious), tuna tartare (decent but not my favorite). Three of us had filets. My 8oz filet was great. I ordered it as medium and that's how it came out. Flavorful and tender, every bite was enjoyable. We did garlic mashed potatoes for a side and I was happy with them. Sized that one side dish is shareable between two people. I have been going to Nicks since they opened. It is without a doubt one of the best experiences in dining in the area the atmosphere is cozy very stylish and welcoming. The service is amazing. We were a party of four this past Sunday. Started at the bar our friends wanted to see the remainder of the football game. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. We then moved to our table. The waitress was very attentive but not ever invasive. It was three out of the four of us celebrating our January birthdays which we have done for the last four years. She went over and beyond to make our experience a joyous celebration. I wish I remembered her name to give her kudos. She is fairly new and that always is a feather in a servers cap. As for the food I give a 10. The steaks and sauces are perfect. The sides ample to split and all winners. I had a tuna tartare starter that was so fresh, delicious. Let me start with the good. The staff and service were excellent and accommodating. Now the bad, very bad. The worst meal I had in all of 2025. Waygu Brisket was unrecognizable and inedible. Not sure if this was a one-off, but for $50+/meal I anticipate excellence. I requested the staff to take my meal away as it was not satisfactory. I did not request the charge be removed from the bill. Once through with dessert I received the bill and was surprised to find both my dinner and 1 of 2 desserts were stricken from the bill. We went to Nick's last Mother's Day, there were 7 of us, with one 3 year old. We ordered 6 entrees. The fish was not good, and 4 of the menu entrees came with only the meat.. We were brought one small basket of pretzel bites, with no refills given or offered, and 3 of our group were under 15. The sauce with the pretzel bites had curdled or broke, very gritty and bitter, and the same sauce was also served with one other entree. For dessert we ordered 2 carrot cakes and a cheesecake brûlée. The brûlée was excellent, however, the carrot cakes were stale and very very dry. They tasted like they had been frozen and thawed. Our Server was excellent, very attentive. Sat at the bar with the wife. I have no idea why this place is not 5 stars. Bartenders were both very sweet and attentive. Drinks were great. I got the bone in tomahawk. It was fantastic. Wife got the 5 oz filet. We had brussel sprouts, mushrooms for sides. Burrata and french onion soup for apps. Everything we ate was fantastic. The one downside was no espresso machine for after dinner. But i wont downgrade the restaurant on that alone. A+! read more

My filet came out cooked beyond medium and one of my dining companions came out beyond medium rare. If a high end steak house can't cook steaks to to right completeness why bother. read more

FYI: I drove from NH to visit Nicks steakhouse and it did not disappoint one bit! From the moment I walked in I knew we were in the right place. Warm welcomes from the staff even though we didn't have a reservation in a nice & elegant yet rustic venue. We were seated outside only to be joined by none other than the two owners Holly and Nick having dinner together. They shared amazing stories on the history of the restaurant and how they bottled their own Makers Mark right at the distillery. They made us feel like family right from the start. Matter of fact we may be back next year same time and Nick made a deal with me that he will save the last bottle of their special made bourbon for us NY'ers. Food was outstanding and the service provided by Mya was top notch. Bottom line this is the place to go so stop searching on yelp and book your reservation. See you guys next year! read more

We went last night to celebrate my birthday. The service was impeccable, before we even got there. The manager called to see if she could move us inside based on the weather, and when we got there we were taken right to a perfect table inside. It's so pretty and romantic inside: it's like you're having dinner in someone's elegant home. The bar looked lovely and intimate too. It's quiet and elegant, tastefully decorated. From there, the most attentive service continued. We ordered drinks and wine, and the apps were the calamari dish and the burrata prosciutto app. Calamari was cooked perfectly, very tender, and the burrata dish was delicious. Plenty of food for 5. Next up was our steaks: 3 ribeyes and 2 filets. Two of the ribeyes had the au poivre sauce which was delicious and not overpowering. One ribeye was a bit over cooked but honestly, it was so delicious it didn't matter. We got mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and truffle Mac & cheese for shareable sides and there was again plenty to share and enough to take some home. I can't believe we ordered dessert but they sounded so good we had to: homemade carrot cake and a hazelnut dacquoise, both excellent. We will absolutely be back. read more

If you are in York ME, on vacation, and looking for a premier steak house, this is not the place for you. I suggest you travel another hour south to the Danvers/Peabody line and hit Pellana. The extra gas price will be worth it. We went with friends for dinner after a show at the playhouse. The Blueberry Maple bacon appetizer was disappointing...and I mean how is bacon EVER disappointing? This appetizer lacked flavor and was a mediocre start. The menu stated the bacon portion was 9 ounces I'd say it was closer to 3.5 ounces total. Two in our party ordered steaks and both were overcooked and dry. One guest ordered the Salmon which was flavorless and had the texture of canned tuna. The halibut I ordered was dry. Our cocktails were expensive and lack luster. They tasted watered down and were devoid of the finesse of an advertised signature cocktail. The sides of garlic mashed and truffle fries were average at best. The dessert "death by chocolate" was the most disappointing as it was served "straight from the fridge" . The cake was dry , butter cream was brittle and ganache tasted like store bought chocolate chips. This dessert should RIP. Despite adequate service ,they could not offer or provide fresh brewed coffee which did not improve my opinion of them. They were able to offer bottled cold brew. read more

Gave Nicks a second chance after a really bad first experience... Very nice atmosphere and a server who was overly friendly to the point of being super fake. A food runner dropped off some pretzel bites (4) that were hard as rocks as they were "Microwaved" for way too long....very classy Ordered an appetizer of Bruschetta, came back with the toasted baguettes with a 3" pile of tomato gloop on top...never had anything like it and hopefully never will again. Finally I ordered a $52 dollar fillet, i didn't want to pay $18 for a baked potato so opted for steak fries. The steak fries were way overcooked to the point that it had no interior potato left, just a hard outer inedible flack jacket. My steak might have been ok, but it was hard to tell with the half inch layer of pepper on top of it. I did not order it "Aupoivre" it wrecked it. My wife's Caesar Salad with grilled chicken looked ok, although she could not eat it as it was also loaded with so much pepper that seems like the cook was trying to pull a prank on us.... I would expect these prices in NYC or even a high end steakhouse in Boston. 2 salads, the chicken dish and a small steak with potato, and no drinks whatsoever was $220.00. So Nick's in York , Maine wasn't our original plan for a graduation dinner celebration, but we are so very happy we went there! We had been looking for a good steak house that could handle a party of nine on a Sunday evening in the Manchester/Portsmouth area, but everything was either closed or had an hour plus wait! When we called to ask if Nick's could accommodate us, the owner, Holly, happily said they'd be ready for us as soon as arrive! This restaurant is a hidden gem, and definitely one of the best experiences my family has ever had! The restaurant is a renovated Early American house with much of its original features providing wonderful ambience. The steak is the star in our book! And although the prices are higher than some, the quality of meat, preparation, and presentation are worth every cent! When ordering the steaks, the sides are ordered and served family style. Then to top of it all off, the wait staff is professional, friendly and totally happy to answer any questions we had. The renovation of this old building is worth the visit. It is amazing! For a small restaurant the tables seem very private and warm! The new bar is amazing and the bartenders and clientele very cool! The greeting by Reenie andl Holly made us feel very welcomed , that hospitality continued all evening. Jillian was our server and advisor as we asked for her recommendations and they,, were spot on. I had a Old Fashion that was wonderfully prepared and Debbie enjoyed a house special Blueberry side car type drink that she thoroughly enjoyed. We split the lump crab with a house remoulade sauce that was fabulous. Debbie, on her birthday, had her 8 oz Filet Mignon medium rare and I opted for the bone in Ribeye, rare, both were cooked to perfection and out of this world. For sides we got the Bake stuffed potato which was a meal for two in itself And the mushrooms which were a medley of which I've never had before! Highly recommend steak (of course), but also chicken parmigiana (devoured by Italian connoisseur in our group). Took my best friend to dinner for his birthday last night and it was terrible. $400 for 3 people and we'll never go back again. Worst espresso martini that I've ever had. Rum punch was so strong. Then the food came. French onion soup is 10x better at the steakhouse in Wells and cheaper. I had the chicken parm and the chicken was thick and tough and the sauce was spicy. The other two had filets. One was overcooked with no seasoning and the other was just ok. Creamed spinach was cold. Truffle Mac and cheese was just ok. Corner room in Portland is way better. Asparagus was tough and not seasoned. Trying to save the day with a pumpkin spice cake with buttercream frosting by a local bakery. Cake was huge. Heavy and stale and the frosting was definitely not buttercream. It was as tough as fondant with no flavor and came off the cake in chunks like it was two to three days old. This place is as expensive as the Fore St in Portland but not even in the same class of food. Don't go there. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more
