I would highly recommend AA to others. Mike, Paul, and staff were responsive and helpful in making a chip key for a Vespa Scooter I had bought. When I bought the scooter without the master key, I had no idea how difficult it was going to be to have a duplicate made from a spare key. I contacted other local locksmiths who were unable to help. Even a dealership in San Jose told me that the key could not be programed without the master. A scooter shop in town referred me to a company in San Diego with specialized equipment that could make a key for us, but that meant shipping the key and waiting for the turnaround. According to my knowledge and that of those whom I had contacted, there were only a few places in the state that could program a key without the master. Surprisingly, AA was able to program the key. Everyone I contacted told us if I lost the spare key it would require replacing the entire mechanism at a cost of at least $300. When I contacted AA Safe and Security they were out of keys but thought they could help when their shipment arrived. It was expected in 2-4 weeks. They were patient with my calls and were pretty sure they could help me. The keys arrived in less than 2 weeks and I received a prompt call from Paul. To my relief, they were able to program the key and make a duplicate. I was most grateful. If you need a Vespa key or have any doubts about the programmability of any key, contact these guys first. We recently had a safe installed in our supply room. The lock needed to be replaced (covered on our one-year warranty). Amber E. advised me not to use the safe until the new lock was installed, which likely saved us from having to drill the door open at some point. The technician installed the new lock and kept me informed of his progress at different phases of the installation. He was fast, tidy and made sure I understood how to enter the new combination. That was over a week ago. Today, Amber called me to see how the new lock was doing. That was great customer service on her part! AA Safe and Security is very impressive not only with its sales and product line, but superior technicians and customer service that are so necessary to a well-run business. Had an unusual lock from a glass door made in the early 60s that was broken and could not be replaced with today's lock style: These guys had the old lock working as good as new in short order for a very reasonable price. My client was very pleased. read more

Great customer service! I emailed AA Safe & Security to see if they could rekey my Medeco locks, as it's really hard to find places that can do that for these locks. Mike answered my email right away, got additional information for me, and made sure I had everything I needed. When I visited the store, Mike was very courteous. He was able to get the rekeying done that day even though I was expecting to have to drop the locks off and pick them up another day. This saved me a long drive as I don't live in Santa Cruz. I went in looking for a deadbolt and was given a song and dance about the brand and got the hard sell. Another employee came out and said we do have a used one we could help him with so he got one off the floor and charged me top dollar. The AA tech got to us in a very short period of time ~ 10 minutes, but due to an older lock took ~ 2 hours to get us back in. It required drilling out the lock. The charge was higher than norm due to this & having to replace the tumbler(s)? The tech even called in support to crack this one. Thus it is apparent not all locksmiths/techs have the same experience & skill set. AA stuck with it and got the job done. Although it took a while, I was impressed by their tenacity, pleasant customer service and a fair price. read more

When my house was broken into...the robber smashed the door in. I contacted AA to make the house secure and they came quickly. They moved one of the locks lower on the door and rekeyed the house, all of which took about an hour and cost about $200.. At the time I was very happy, BUT.... about a week later the lock they moved jammed because the spring broke. I called because the receipt said there was a 30 day warranty on their work including parts and labor. They told me over the phone that the lock was damaged during the robbery...so I asked why did you charge me to move and rekey a damaged lock, rather than repairing it? (especially since it was their intention to charge me all over again for working on the same lock) Then they said it wasn't damaged when they left...So I suggested if the lock wasn't damaged from the force of the break-in, then I would have to guess that they were the ones that damaged it. Either way, they didn't honor their warranty and clearly they don't stand behind the work they do. Already dealing with a robbery...the people I thought were there to help, just added to the problem...I would absolutely not recommend these people!!!!! read more

Ordered a key for my Lexus specifically asking for a key with the remote. My boyfriend went to pick up the key not realizing I ordered a remote. When I realized that it wasn't a remote, I called up and spoke to someone that said they would order the remote and only charge me $10.00. I agreed. Unfortunately, I did not write the name down and did not come in right away. When I did come in, the owner, Scott, claimed my story was not possible and no one at the store would have told me such a thing. I asked them if I could get the key from Lexus would they be willing to program it. Scott said angrily to me that, 'we don't program other people's keys!'. He said he'd give me a discount and when I went to pay, he wouldn't accept AMX and I needed to get cash cause he didn't trust me. I will never do business with them again. I'd give them 0 stars if that was an option! I suggest a boycott of this place! read more

Upon entering the store, I was not greeted with the standard, " how can I help you". Instead, the person behind the counter just stares at me, once he turned around, after addressing one of his associates. He proceeded to exhibit " a non welcoming attitude", and after a few minutes of engaging in a dialogue, with this individual, it appeared to me that he didn't want my business. He was extremely unprofessional and rude. I was trying to support a local business, but I guess it's easier to go too a corporate store, where they uphold a higher standard of customer service. I presented him w/ a few door knobs to get keyed, to get an idea of how his establishment does business. I planned on coming back to discuss setting up an account for one of my commercial buildings, which could have been quite profitable for them ( from other estimates I got it was close too 8-10,000), I guess they're doing pretty good financially, to turn away business like that. read more
