Called to get quote for smog on our daughters Saturn and the gentleman who answered phone was very polite and assured us we could use online discount. Arrived as a walk-in a while later and was greeted by smog tech (can't recall name, but he had a multi-colored hair style) who immediately signed us in for service and took our keys. I've used AA smog in the past with no issues. I recently attempted to get a smog. New Tech first tried to charge me $79.00 even though web had price at $39. After I said something I got the price listed. Tech came back in 2minutes and told me my engine was from Japan and was failing my car. Wtf? I explained My cars from Honda with original engine. There are no Japanese numbers or writing. The engine even had the vehicle VIN number on it. I don't even have any aftermarket parts like exhaust or cold air intake . Only changed a few OE parts like water pump and timing chain and not even recently. Tech did not care and said I now owed him for smog even though he did nothing but open my hood. Oh and he failed my car...... I went to another smog check and had no issues. I called James the owner and he immediately fixed the problem. I no longer gave second thoughts of coming here. 11:55AM I am writing this as I wait in their waiting room. They have coffee. They have told me this will take about 10-15 minutes. The gentleman that has helped me is very polite. I made sure to bring my paperwork from the DMV since they need to scan it in order to forward it to the state. I was quoted $78 and given a receipt. I'm not too worried but they do a Re-Inspection at no additional cost if your vehicle fails for any reason. It is now 11:58am and he has already taken it out of the garage... read more

I needed a smog check today and went there since they were nearby and open on a Saturday. They were able to get me right in and get my smog check done. It failed the first time due to a cracked hose. The owner showed me the problem hose and told me that I just needed to replace it and come back for a second smog check. I went and replaced the hose and went right back. I had to wait a little bit due to the line that was there when I got back. I chatted with the owner while I was waiting and found out that he is a Veteran and that his business supports Veterans. I feel really torn while writing this review. I'll start with the pros: the $30 off coupon from their website made getting my 99 car smogged way more affordable than any other place I've been to and they also offer a free retest if your car fails! However I'm disappointed in the customer service I received. I came in on the 25th of July for a smog test that I had scheduled. The man who helped me, Lee, was friendly and he did the test relatively quick having been the only one working. My car passed and I got in my car to leave, but then I realized my driver side car handle on the inside was totally cracked. I was shocked because last time I had been in my car, the handle was totally fine. It wouldn't open the door anymore so I had to roll the window down and open it from the outside. I went back into the shop and asked him how that happened. He said that it was already "loose" and he lied and tried to say he wasn't the one who broke it. I asked if there was a way I could speak to the owner, but he said he didn't know when he'd be in. I just feel really disrespected that he lied to me and would've wished that he had just owned up to it and apologized. read more

Rich, I read your reply and tried to respond via Yelp, offering more information and also to come in and look at this video you refer to, as I did not falsify anything. But to date I have not heard back. The reason I did not instantly present the app to your staff is that I did not have the app. I printed the voucher off my pc desktop at home. I'm an older person, and not as good with the phone. I spoke with Groupon afterward and according to them, EVERYTHING needed to process the order was on the Voucher I presented, but the staff barely glanced at the paper before telling me it was a problem and never looked again. But whatever he was hoping to get from the app was on the paper. Still, trying to accommodate him, I retrieved my phone from my car and downloaded the app, brought it up, and showed him that I had it now, and he could look up whatever he liked but I had never used this app before, that I printed it off my computer at home. He glanced at it but made no effort to pick it up or look anything up. To be clear, you authorized Groupon to be your agent and to make a legal offer on your behalf. I received your offer through your agent and accepted, both by paying up front and by performing everything else required by the agreement as presented to me by Groupon, including calling in advance. At that point, there was a legal contract between us, which I had fulfilled on my end by paying and performing, and only required you to perform your end. You failed to perform as promised, and are in breach of that contract. In short, this is illegal behavior. I asked to speak to you, but was told you could not be reached and that he had told you about this problem with Groupon before. Your staff's 'accommodation' was to offer me your regular price, just like you advertise, which was a couple dollars cheaper than the Groupon deal. All I needed to do was to pay again and then go try and get my money back. Nice accommodation, for a couple of dollars I have to figure out how to navigate a company's customer service. Thanks for nothing, but I'll pass. But, by this time I was more than upset, and at my age and prior heart surgery that isn't good for me. So I actually AGREED to his terms, if he would only put in the sales agreement that you would reimburse me if I couldn't get my money back. He started to do that, and as he was writing it down I asked if he would just tell you that what happened here is wrong, and if you don't want to honor these offers you shouldn't make them, that it's a breach of contract. I told him that I sue people over such stuff. I do, ... I'm a mostly retired lawyer. I didn't mean to say that I was going to sue you over such a pittance as this, as annoying as it was. I was stating a fact about what I did for a living because what happened here was illegal. Is that what you meant by a threat? I can think of nothing else. That's when he threw the passed and signed smog printout at me, and told me to get out and never return, and that it was 'on him' -- but the printout is worthless, as I assume he knew. So, I'm happy to look at the video with you, review whatever evidence you think you have, but I've kept the Voucher printout containing all necessary information, and the video will clearly show me presenting it, and how long he looked at it. The breach of contract occurred right there when he refused to honor it and provide the service I had already paid for. Everything else was my trying to accommodate YOU so as not to be inconvenienced further, and so as to avoid getting even more upset, all to no avail. I would like to chalk it all up to a staff person who was not well trained and simply made a mistake, and might even forgive his lie that he performed the service for free, which he of course did not do. But I must say I'm a bit upset at being called a liar by you. Clearly, if people take nothing else from this, learn from my mistake and don't try to pay with a printed Groupon Voucher. read more

My smog check failed on the 1st test, tech said it was due to a leaking EVAP system, i took the truck in to a smog repair station and they did a diagnostic and a smoke leak test, no issues on diagnostic and EVAP system held the pressure and no leaks, i bought my truck back for the re-test...and guess what it passed, the smog tech stated maybe because there equipment was old is the reason the EVAP test failed, another down side is it is not a free re-test, i had to pay $10.00 for the EVAP test and pay the $8.00 for the certificate. Definitely not going there again. read more

I feel terrible I didn't get his name, but there was a younger guy *I think he had a beard* working last Saturday when I showed up without an appt to find a packed parking lot with literally not one place to park. I made a makeshift spot in front of another business next door that appeared closed (bad me, I know). He was SO nice and very helpful. I told him I had a Groupon and as I tried to pull it up the app was just giving me grief and refusing to load. He was super patient and kept my place in line while I tried to figure it out, went and moved my car for me, quoted me 25 minutes, and offered me a very discounted rate in case the Groupon didn't want to load since I had already paid for it. The Groupon did end up finally loading, and he had me out in literally like 10 mins flat. BEST car maintenance experience ever!! Especially when I had just come from Big O Tires where I had waited outside in the cold for over 2 hours waiting for a simple oil change. How amazing of a Smog check experience was this today!! It's 103 outside and my oldest boy needs a smog test!?
