I've been using AAA Auto for many years, had my oil changed here a few months back. Used a different shop for most recent oil change and was informed that the plug and pan had to be replaced because previous Auto techs at AAA had overtightened it. Cost was$500! Upset and disappointed because the AAA name used to stand for integrity, honesty and service, but no more. The company is now too big and tries to do too much. I've come to the realization that if your car isn't under warranty, you should just have AAA. This is the 2nd time I've had a membership, but yesterday was only the 1st time I needed to use it. The tow truck showed up on time, got my car started, determined that it was probably just a dead battery - and easily could have suggested we replace it as he had one with him. This would have been just fine, but he said since he was already there, it would be simple to load it up and have it taken to their repair center for a free diagnostic. I agreed, and it ended up only being a dead battery. What I enjoyed about yesterday was the little touches they do to add value. Nice cold bottle of water for the ride over... lunch suggestion (which was pretty good) while I was waiting... discount on the battery itself... there just isn't much peace of mind when your car is starting to fall apart, and having these guys as a security blanket rocks. I've been a AAA member for less than a month and already regret joining. I should have looked at the reviews here before banking on the AAA reputation. I bought a used car from a private seller last Friday (7/8) and took it to this AAA Auto Repair shop for inspection and repairs. I spoke with Jeff and asked for an estimate on all needed repairs so I could decide if I could do everything within my budget or would need to wait on some items. I was told the inspection should be done that afternoon or Saturday. By Saturday around 11:30 am, I had yet to hear back. I called and had to leave a message. A few hours later, I still had not had my call returned and they were closing soon. I called again and spoke with Debbie, who told me Jeff was off until Monday. She tried to help me, but the inspection had still not been completed. I then contacted AAA member services to express my disappointment and frustration as there was no contact information for the office manager listed. On Monday morning, I was told management would contact me as soon as possible. It's been over 24 hours and I still have not heard from a manager. I did hear from both Jeff and Debbie yesterday, but each time I talk to someone, the costs and repairs continue to increase. I am also still without a car. Jeff offered to get a rental car yesterday afternoon, but as I was told my car should be ready today, I declined. Today is now half over and I still have yet to hear from ANYONE in the office for an update. At this point, I will end up over my budget and regret both joining AAA and taking my car there. read more

My car broke down over the weekend. Although I had to wait 2 hours for a tow truck, they delivered me home and my car to AAA Repair. My car was repaired at a reasonable cost and their shuttle picked me up at home to go retrieve my car. I was very happy with their service. read more

These guys are crooks. I took my jeep in there because of a faulty fuel pump and I figured I would have them do a few other things while the vehicle was in there. The next day they told me the bad news, that the fuel pump in the gas tank had a short in the wire harness and burned the harness all the way up to whatever along with the pump. Then they proceeded to charge me over $600 to replace this fuel pump and wire harness on a 92 Jeep. I could tell right there that this was Bullshit so I told them not to touch it and I would get a truck to tow it out of there. I then contacted a mobile mechanic to come to the house and fix it. He showed me in Real Time that not only was the pump still good but the wire harness was not burnt one bit! The problem was the hose disconnected from the pump and it failed to get fuel. He replaced a $2.00 hose and charge me $90 bucks for the trip here and the repair. They also tried to charge me $180 for the back hatch shocks to keep the Lift gate up, this mechanic did it for $28 including the parts. I had a few other things on the docket and each was overpriced. Again these guys are crooks I would save yourself some grief and find a mechanic that you can trust. In my opinion this was fraud so I called AAA and after 45 mins on hold the operator says someone would call me on this serious issue. No Calls, Nothing. I'm done with Triple A, they have gotten to big to give a shit. Hope this review can help someone else. read more

Well we had the unfortunate situation in which both of our Toyotas quit running on the same day. My wife's RAV4 stalled in traffic and my 4Runner wouldn't start. We had the RAV4 towed to the East Mesa AAA. Initial opinion was that it might be a blown head gasket. Jump-started my 4Runner and took it in and they tested the battery and alternator. That test was free of charge and they recommended I take the battery back to Costco where I bought it. But I'm tired of returning batteries to them so I purchased a AAA battery and I'm good to go. Just got a call that nothing was wrong with the RAV4 and that there would be no charge for checking it out. Something about a temperature gauge and being somewhat low on coolant. Jeff and Bob are outstanding in their commitment to their customers. No matter what the repair is I know that I will get an honest opinion and they always try to keep the cost down. Integrity and trust are lacking in so many businesses today but those characteristics are alive and well at the East Mesa service center. I recommend them to everyone I see. read more

I had a leaking radiator on my way home from work on Wednesday 7/25/18, and since AAA is on my way home and my previous experience had been satisfactory, I stopped to have my car looked at. I was greeted by Jason, who was helpful and said that my car would be looked at once a bay opened up. I left my car and waited to hear the prognosis; Jason called me back sooner than expected and said that I needed a new radiator and that my water pump probably would need to be replaced, all at a cost of $1428. I asked him to hold off since I recently had a similar service done on my daughter's car for a much lower cost and wanted to call another mechanic, who confirmed that he could do the service for less. I called AAA and told them I would be in to pick up my vehicle and thanked them for their estimate. When I arrived I was presented with a bill for the estimate, which caught me off guard since that had never been mentioned and I thought that being a AAA member, that would be a perk of taking your car to this shop. The guy at the desk said that I would need to speak to Jason about the bill, so I waited for Jason to get my info up on his screen. I politely asked him about the charge and why I hadn't been told about it before; his reaction was a heavy sigh and then he threw a piece of paper at me and said "here's your estimate" and dismissed me. I work in customer service and this was extremely rude and unprofessional. I also got my car serviced for less than $700, I won't go back to this shop. read more

My first experience with AAA repair last week for an oil change was great. No complaints. Today I dropped my car off for recommended repairs. I dropped my car off at 8am and was told it would be ready early afternoon. I called at noon to see what time they were thinking. Bob told me the guys get back from lunch at 1p and the shuttle driver at 2:30p. He said my car would be done by then and he would call me when it was done. At 2:15p I called and Bob told me my car was done and the shuttle driver would be leaving to pick me up about 2:30p. I live 10 miles from their office. At 3:15p I called just to make sure the shuttle was still coming. I was told yes and that it will be here any minute. It is now 3:45p and still no shuttle. I have been getting the run around and have been told lie after lie by Bob today. Apparently customer service is not a priority to them. I will never be back after the treatment I have received today. The shuttle finally showed up over an hour and a half past the promised time. read more

I recently visited the Mesa AAA shop for the first time. I had been using the West Chandler shop for years with complete satisfaction. However the Mesa shop is closer to my house so I decided to give it a try. I asked them to perform an oil change and to look at the power steering fluid because the handling has been stiff for a few weeks. the customer service representative looked under the hood and suggested a power steering flush. I agreed to this service. After waiting a while the customer service representative informed me that the power steering pump is leaking and needs to be replaced. I told the representative not to perform the flush because I would have this done when I have the power steering pump replaced in a few weeks. Just top off the power steering fluid and I'll be on my way. The representative agreed to this. After waiting a while longer the representative came back and said that they went ahead and did the power steering flush. He stated that upon further review the pump was actually fine and they could not determine what was leaking. He told me that if I took my car to have the engine cleaned,(at another shop) they could determine what was leaking. Whatever was leaking was black and power steering fluid is red. now it is a week later and my power steering is getting tight again and there is red fluid on my garage floor. I will be going back to the Chandler West location. read more

My car broke down on the border of Mesa and Tempe on a Monday. My daughter and I waited and hour and a half for a tow. I live in Tempe and my closest AAA shop is in Chandler. Nevertheless, they towed me to their Mesa shop (Greenfield) which was a long way from my home. It was a $25 taxi ride to get home (the wait for their free ride was over an hour). They did not look at my car until Wednesday and it was not finished until Thursday, They did keep me updated on the progress. I did not get my car back until Friday. It turned out to be a water pump failure. I knew they had to remove four belts to get to it so I told them two of the belts were brand new having been installed from a previous repair. Nevertheless, they charged me for four new belts at $36 each (they are $5 each at O'Reilly). My bill said I was supposed to get a '30-point inspection' but I never did get it. They fixed my problem but I cannot get over over $140 for four belts that should have cost $20. I know there is a mark-up but I consider that outrageous. An actual water pump costs $30, they charged $95. Total repair was just short of $600. read more

My experience wasn't so great. I called 1 week aheah to make an appt. for 5/14. They said to bring it in at 8:00. I did this and wanted a 100,000 mile checkup and service and additionally an oil change. I was given a shuttle ride home and figured I'd get a call about 1:00 or 2:00. At 3:30 I heard nothing so I called them. They said they were running late but would get to it and call me. At 4:30 I called them back. They said they were finishing up and would call me when the shuttle left for my house. At 5:15 it showed at my house but no call. When I got there they said they got behind due to cars left over from the previous day. I paid and when I got home I found they were supposed to include the 36 point check form. They did not. I have a feeling they were rushing and didn't actually do it. I wonder what else they didn't do? I also have a feeling that if I hadn't been calling that they wouldn't have gotten to me until the next day which would have been VERY inconvenient for me. I feel if I take a car in that doesn't require some major repair that it should not take this long and if for some odd reason it does then at least call me and keep me informed. read more
