The whole experience with this shop has been unpleasant. I took my car in to get my rear and front brakes changed only to find out that only the rears were done. Later, I went to a new shop to have the front pads replaced and they told me that the rear drums were installed incorrectly. I took the car back to brake masters, they refused to admit that anything was wrong. They did not take the tires off the car to actually inspect the brake drums. They gaslit me and told me there was nothing wrong. read more

I was ready to complete the work here if it truly failed because they were cheaper than my dealership. They were honest and told me my breaker fluid was fine. I truly appreciate the honesty. So, I have read most of the reviews on here for this location and I have to say for the negative reviews that were written, Dana McCray, the store manager must have not been working when you visited. One of the many things that COVID-19 ruined was the ability for people to simply be professional. It is extremely hard to find caring, helpful, professional, and honest customer service people these days. So while I understand that repairs can be expensive and frustrating, if I get the kind of professional and honest service I received at this Brake Masters location it makes my day much better. Long story short, I went into this Brake master to have some things checked out. Dana gave my Jeep Patriot an honest and thorough inspection, gave me an honest quote, had the repairs performed and completed in a timely fashion, and saved me over 100 bucks from the quoted price. These guys are awesome. Dave the manager is so very helpful. I had to get my daughter's car fixed and it was going to cost me a ton of money. Dave worked with my warranty company very closely. We were able to get some of it covered and then he also spaced out the work where we would do half now and half in a couple weeks. I was told by the cashier that they raised their prices and so I was only getting $15 off the new price for the service. I replied that most coupons that have a price are honored at that price. Went to BrakeMasters to get an oil change and left feeling taken advantage of. Firstly, the manager working the desk, Dave, was extremely rude in every single interaction. I felt talked down to the entire time. As they were finishing my oil change, they told me that my brake pads were paper thin and needed replacing asap. He made me feel shameful and like an idiot because my brake pads were so thin. Because of his rude behavior, I decided to take my car elsewhere to get the brake pads replaced, and thank God I did because this other auto shop told me they were completely fine, and saved me so much money! (Not to mention, they would've charged me significantly less than BrakeMasters was charging). To close out this experience, I wasn't asked what oil I wanted and was given a more expensive one without them asking, which cost more than what they told me it would be over the phone. Overall, this was a horrible experience, and I would steer clear from this BrakeMasters if possible. As many other women understand, it's incredibly frustrating taking your car to get service done because your ignorance on cars more than often gets taken advantage of. Just want to shout out a positive to the crew at this location. I had taken my Lexus Rx 350 to another shop for a basic oil change and inspection and they claimed need new rear pads and rotors. Well the SUV had very few miles and likely rotors were not necessary but the shop was not a brake shop and could not work on rotors other than replace. I called Brake Masters spoke to Eric and quoted me a fair price. When I came in the guys put the car on the lift and said I had 50% pads left and no need to replace under normal circumstances. What a bunch of HONEST people. I will be back the next time for my regular service and these people won my business. Give them a shot they are right at the turn before Costco. Went here for an oil change and they called me 30 minutes later saying my air filters needed to be changed. I said no because they were expensive and then two days later, my AC vent starts making a noise from a restricted airflow. This had not happened before coming to this place. Absolutely ridiculous. Was told yesterday by Greulich (Scottsdale and Shea-Scottsdale) my car needed wheel alignment, tires 1 year old, alignment 1 year old performed by Greulich, now 5000 miles later. So today took car to Brake Masters on Hayden for alignment (which would have been $40 less with store coupon), same machine, same computer printout, except all green, no yellows or reds like the Greulich report. And no alignment done. And was told how their report was diffenent from Greulich's, and it is about the technician, and a slight movement of the steering wheel while computer analyzes. The store I was at is the one at15550 N Hayden Road. Not about to return to Greulich, be careful out there, shop around, get a 2nd opinion, just like you would if the doc told you that surgery was needed. This specific location is 10/10! Dave & Devin are the absolute best in the business! They actually care about the customers, and take the time to get to know them. Not only are they looking to keep your bill as low as possible, but they take the time to explain major issues that need immediate attention, & they even explain minor issues that may need attention down the road, so there's no surprises. Too many times I've went to an auto-body shop for a simple oil change, and the next thing you know they've got a list a mile long of things that are "supposedly" wrong with my vehicle, even though I just got home from a 15 hour road trip with absolutely zero vehicle issues. If you prefer high integrity & honest people, go see Dave & Devin! The only thing you ever see on a bill from them are the things that actually need immediate attention, which FYI is a lower cost than anywhere else I've been to in Scottsdale the 10 years I've lived here. Of course people, myself included, prefer a lower quote/bill, but I can honestly say I'd pay more to work specifically with Dave & Devin as I know they're looking out for my best interest. My experience with this location was poor. I needed them to check my whole vehicle, found we need to return to my original vehicle place to get my warranty on my battery replacement. The worker Mike miscommunicated with his workers, so when we picked up the vehicle they had replaced the battery, wanting to charge us full price when we asked to keep the battery for the next place, and blamed the miscommunication on us. This morning my car randomly started sounding like metal nails on a chalk board. Dana, the front desk manager was super polite, took the keys and said she would have Jr. take a look at it. She promised me she would do all the free checks to try to diagnose the problem without costing anything. The squeaking was so loud you could hear it from a mile away. They let me know a couple minutes later it was just a rock stuck in something. Got it out, got it off the rack and I was out the door! Integrity!
