I asked to have passport photos taken for both myself and my wife. She said it would be free for me, but my wife had to pay $20. I explained that I have two cars insured with AAA and an active membership, and that my wife is seriously ill--disabled, in the final stages of Alzheimer's, and dying soon. I recently bought a new Acura, and Milton was able to edit my AAA policy. I was trying to do it online, but I wasn't able to so I stopped by at the AAA Pinole office location. Milton was able to provide a great service, and was able to edit my full coverage policy to my liking. I was scared that my full coverage was going to sky-rocket because of my new car, but he was able to find me savings by editing my policy based on my needs. The customer service is non-existent, the wait times are ridiculous, and the staff continues to be rude and unhelpful. You would think after multiple complaints across different platforms, AAA would step in and improve things, but nope--same terrible experience. I keep forgetting that AAA DMV reps are just salespeople -- not actual DMV professionals. They seem far more interested in pushing membership upgrades and extra paid services than providing real help. Most recently, I was denied a vehicle registration renewal because my California Real ID showed my updated legal name (changed in 2024), which didn't exactly match the old name on my registration -- even though it was clearly me. What made this frustrating was that the same rep, Carlos, had processed my renewal just fine in September 2025 under the same circumstances with zero issues. The inconsistency and lack of understanding were disappointing. This isn't the first time AAA has fallen short. Back in 2019, I tried registering an out-of-state vehicle for a simple California registration and was also denied service because the staff clearly lacked the knowledge and expertise needed for actual DMV transactions. For comparison, I went to the DMV Kiosk in El Cerrito the very next day and completed my renewal in under two minutes -- no ID requirement, no questions, no nonsense. My go-to DMV office in Vallejo has even expressed their frustration about how AAA DMV tends to be unreliable and untrained for real DMV work. I just want to say I am no longer insured through AAA as of today after my experience and the up the ass cost in premiums. I have been a member since high school and have an incredible driving record so the cost and stale attitude received today is a slap to the face. To say the least, this establishment is a joke. A waste of corporate dollars. While customers are sitting and waiting, there is zero interest in service or efficiency, staff members standing around, flirting with each other. Watching a senior employee asking their subordinate if they got them something for Valentine's Day while customers are sitting around waiting for help is HIGHLY inappropriate. There is little to no urgency to be of assistance, just a bunch of empty vessels waiting around for a paycheck and sadly, waiting to go on home. Upon arrival, I was also told the line for wait time is long so I should just call the 1800 number. Are you kidding me? Then after being turned away to come back later to receive help, I had insurance questions and was the only person in line. Waited 15 minutes. So then I decided to call the 1800 number again. As I'm on the phone, the service member finally makes herself available to help but too late, the 1800 number got me help faster than she could turn the corner. I said it already and I'll say it again, this is a joke of a company and a waste of business dollars. Not only that, AAA's reliability, cost and quality is a total rip off now. Was told as of 2025, all insurance companies raised their premium cost by 40% in California due to the increase in fires (which apparently AAA won't even cover). How does that even make sense? Went in to the Pinole location this last Saturday to do a title transfer. It was my first time going to this one as I usually use the Concord location. I bought one of the old shop trucks from my work. The title for the truck was in the name of my work and all filled out correctly. The guy at the kiosk said they could not transfer the title if it's going from a business to an individual. He said I'd have to go to the DMV to do the transfer. I thought that was weird as I'd had the Concord branch do it for me years ago when I bought another old shop truck that we had. I thought maybe some policy had changed so I didn't bother to question it or cause an issue. Monday morning (today) I called the AAA customer service number just to see if I should have been able to do the transfer there. I told the very nice lady on the phone exactly what I told the guy at the kiosk and she said it shouldn't be a problem doing that transfer. She even put me on hold for a couple of minutes so she could confirm. I debated today if I wanted to go to the DMV after work or take a chance at the Concord AAA office. I hate going to the DMV so I went to AAA. I told the girl at the Concord kiosk what I needed to do. Also explained to her what had happened so far. She apologized and said that service should be the same between all locations. She had me sit down since there were 3-4 people in front of me. Less than a minute later I got called up as all those people were busy filling out paperwork (she saw my stuff was ready to go). Got to the window and there was no issue transferring the title. I was in/out in probably 7-8 minutes. My recommendation is to avoid the Pinole location (I'll never go back) and try out the Concord location instead. The WORST AAA branch I've ever been to! No service, no quality, unfriendly, not helpful at all. I've made an appointment and waited for half hour. At first, they assigned me to Lissette and I was half way to her desk, then she said she had 10 ahead of me & I had no appointment with her, so she sent me back to the lobby, (WHY THEY ASSIGNED ME TO HER THEN?!) everything I asked she just loudly said "I don't know" which I felt embarrassing! This is what AAA's quality service? Half hour after, another man assisted and I requested for some changes and couple quotations, he lied right in front of my face that he couldn't make changes anymore and quoted me few hundreds more. I asked for certain new unknown charges he couldn't answer me correctly as well. This made me to leave with just a "Thank you" without any argument because I know none of them wanna help! (After I left, I called the sales thru the 1-800 hotline, the friendly lady Michelle in the phone was able to make changes and answered me everything promptly, in a NICE manner!) The DMV closed at the beginning of the pandemic. I needed to take care of several things that I was unable to do online. Triple-A came to my rescue during the height of the pandemic and still is there assisting people now with the help of their knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was able to take care of everything that I needed to do at their office. Now it is possible to walk into the office, when I first started going there I did have to wait in line outside to be let in. That was fine with me. I never speak up when people complain, however, I did when I heard people in line grumble about the wait time. I was there numerous times, each time I heard these people I told them if they went to the DMV they might as well plan on being there all day, even with an appointment. I called AAA Pinole Branch 45 minutes before they were closing; on a Monday to ask for an appointment for notary services. My call was answered by Erica, who was very rude and rushed me off the phone. Erica's customer service told me a lot about that branch. I understand everyone feels underappreciated and overworked but for Erica to interact with me the way that she did over the phone, I do not feel comfortable nor emotionally safe. From this experience, I would never want to step foot in that branch as I felt bullied. This branch has the WORST customer service! I am a caregiver for a disabled AAA customer. The greeting staff acted like they couldn't figure out why she was there and just said "go sit over there" and pointed. My patient was having severe difficulty walking and was using a cane. Finally, a woman sitting behind a counter called my patient's name. I asked if they could have someone come talk to my patient at the table where she was sitting as she is disabled and has difficulty walking. Immediately, the woman sitting behind the counter named Susan very loudly said "NO she can't, she HAS to sit HERE!". So, my patient' had to try and get up and struggle walking over to Susan's window. As she was trying to do that a man (named Paul) came strutting over and I asked him if they made any accommodations for disabled people. He said very annoyed "NO WE DON'T". I said "so you're saying that you are going to make my patient struggle to get up and walk another 20 feet to go struggle to sit down where Susan is sitting?". Paul replied "yes, she HAS to sit over there" Then I asked him if they could have someone come talk with my patient where she was sitting so as to avoid any more physical distress for her. Paul said " Well, we can't do that because we don't want a bunch of people filling up the area". I said " so even if a person is disabled, there is NO ONE who can help them because "Susan can't leave her window and NO ONE can come out to the lobby area to help a disabled person". He said "well, that's how it is". Then he said "we suggest that these kind of customers do their business online". What happens if "these kind of people" don't have a computer? The staff at this branch obviously need training in courteous customer service especially when it involves disabled people. This is a disgraceful way for ANY representative of a company to speak to customers. EDIT: It is against Federal Law to not provide accommodations for people with disabilities as outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Obviously this branch (Pinole) needs to learn what the Federal laws are regarding people with disabilities as well as learn how to be courteous to their customers. read more

Terrible service. Unfriendly. Inexperienced. I went to Daly City branch for a car I purchased. Since the vehicle had special plates, I had to get 2 forms filled out. 1 from me and the other from the seller. I live in the Peninsula and the seller is in the East Bay. So we had to work out a time and place that was convenient for us and filled the paperwork properly. As I was in East Bay, the closest branch to me was Pinole. I decided to go there for convenience and it was a terrible mistake. Staff were very rude from the beginning. Telling me that the form was done improperly and that the release of liability was for someone else from 2017 so they couldn't transfer the title to me (Strange, Daly City AAA didn't say anything about that). Anyways, it's the same year that the previous owner bought the car from a dealer. They never decided to sell the vehicle until it was sold to me. I called the previous owner and we both knew they made a mistake. As I was walking over to the lady who told me about this "issue" (while on the phone with the previous owner) , another lady stopped me aggressively telling me that they don't respond to phone calls. We are both very busy people. At LEAST hear us out. I'm exhausted thinking about traveling back and forth in traffic that I decided to go to the Berkeley Branch. Over there, they greeted me kindly. Accepted all my paperwork and I was out with registration and plates with no issues! I just handed the paperwork's that the Daly City Branch wanted filled out. What are the odds that Daly City and Berkeley have no problems transferring the title? It's obvious this location doesn't care about their AAA members. In fact, they wanted me to go to the DMV instead because they don't want to do their job. Then what's the point of having AAA membership? The lady didn't even spare a second for my explanation. This location is so convenient, rarely busy when I go in mornings and I am able to do almost everything I need in one location. My disability placard, renewing my registration, updating my auto policy, notary services for cheap accompanied by friendly service is a bonus. I have never had an issue with this location, am able to make an appointment for almost any service online and my wait times are minimal to nonexistent. The agents who greets you at the door are very resourceful, one saved me time being in line when I needed an additional document to update my title. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS BRANCH. I genuinely hope this location gets shut down. They have the worst customer service of all the AAA locations I've interacted with over the last 15 years in Northern California. We've done five separate transactions on different days (two sets of title changes, two registration renewals, and specialized plate ordering). Each visit has literally been a struggle, with only one competent DMV tech. There is one lady in particular who looks like she got pulled off of working the DMV counter because the system was that difficult for her to operate. This recent visit was the last straw: my husband and I are joint owners on a motorcycle with custom license plates (we are both on the title, we are both on the registration). We were both present during the time the plates were ordered... nine months later, they called him to inform him the plates are in their possession. He shows up at 4:00PM to get the plates and is told he can't pick them up because "it needs to be the person who performed the transaction" though we were both there when the plate was purchased. I immediately drive home from Foster City and rush to get there by 5:30P. They now turn us away because they're closing (half an hour early) and only have one tech behind the counter (mind you, they have 3-4 windows and the woman who was previously behind the DMV desk is now working the door, with "Paul" who is either the lead or the manager and is now saying to come back at 9AM). He gives attitude and suggests I come back during my lunch break tomorrow (what part of I rushed up here from Foster City didn't you get?). There was a single person waiting in the lobby area and no other surrounding vehicles. You're telling me it will take more than half an hour to pull a license plate when you have ONE person in the lobby? If you have three or more people on staff, and there's only one person who can work the DMV counter, there's a serious lack of competency that needs to be addressed. We'll be elevating the poor customer service to their regional branch if only to alert that they aren't hiring able/competent staff. What's the point of being a customer for 35 years if you're just going to hire people that treat your customers like a number? read more

Extremely unprofessional, the service here is horrendous. Stay away from "Vee", she acts like she knows what's she's doing but is clearly overworked and under paid. She enjoys making the customer look stupid, and scolds you like if you were her child. The name tags on their person are always flipped or covered, the names on the desks are switched or flipped. I had to act stupid to ask for one of the girls names. I come to find out the name on the desk isn't even the girl who was helping me but rather the coworkers who's was working on the desk next to her. Unfortunately this hasn't been the first time that the service has been horrendous. Do people here return phone calls?? Debra was able to help out my parents out with a car seat installation-- after about a week of calling her. But, she was able to service them and did so. Car seat turned out to be installed improperly and was wobbly when jiggled. Not very professional. This service is free and we still didn't get our money's worth. My experience was that after two weeks of calling her every so often and leaving messages, I gave up. As I am entering a time crunch after two weeks of waiting, I ended up taking my business elsewhere and they helped me with the legwork and actually installed it properly. read more
