Watch out for this place. If you make an appointment online they will likely change it on you, sending you an email that says "we received your request to change your appointment." The first time they actually CANCELED my appointment and I didn't see the cancellation email until I was on my way there. The second time, three hours before my appointment they sent me an email telling me I had requested a change to have my appointment one hour earlier. I did notsuch thing. So when I arrived at the originally appointed time, I was told, "you're very late." Very annoying. read more

Brought car in because there is an air leak in a hose and was trying to figure out what hose. I was quoted 1500+ for new back rotors/ pads and CALIPERS lol so, my back brakes were done a few months back and calipers have been done in the last couple years ( car has high miles) . Tried to suggest other things that were clearly them treating a woman like an idiot . Too bad because their insurance agents are great ! Moving forward I wouldn't even go there for an oil change. I don't know where to start I'm so disappointed as towards the lack of professionalism AAA has to offer with these so called technicians who have not one idea about what a vehicle should function like or be correctly worked on. I do not know why they call the tire changers here technicians, my car been in the shop since last week Wednesday (1 week, in and out 3 times for one issue) to change a hose and they did some make shift thing which I told them wouldn't work, it broke in 10 mins. I told them change the part and they did the same make shift thing again, now I'm sure they made my engine defective due to the coolant hose they changed didn't last and i was notified when the warning and the thermostat went through the roof at the same time and I was stuck on the highway because they said they wouldn't pay for it. It's a lot to type but all I have to say if you see the use of your vehicle to be important to you DO NOT TAKE IT HERE. I'll definitely do a follow up. i brought my car on july 29, 2025, for transmission service and needless to say i had to bring it back after they had my car for 2 months and once, i got it back, i had to call them back a week after they supposedly "fixed it". that time was the second time they had to fix the same problem. i got the car back and a week later i had to call them about my car giving the same problem. when i spoke with zach, he told me to bring back the car and i explained to him i may have to have the car towed because it is not allowing me to drive over 65 mph on the highway. before my son and i can get home from work, we had to pull over on the highway because the car stalled on us and we almost got into an accident. made it close to home and it had to be towed back. when i called paul ryan to inform him, i am having the car towed back to them, he told me "no and they will not be fixing my car". i had my car towed to the dealership where i purchased the car and it was diagnosed with the same problem, they "fixed". almost $6,000 later, my car needs to be repaired again!!!!!!! read more

I set up an appointment for my 1976 Cadillac. They assured me that they had an experienced Mechanic who knew older cars. Once I brought it there, however, I received a phone call from them telling me that they don't work on older cars. Keep in mind that all of the parts are readily available. There are no rust issues. The rear set-up is exactly like that of any modern rear-wheel drive car, only simpler. My family has had AAA since 1967. I have my life insurance through them too. If they do this to one of their oldest customers, what could they do to you? Apparently, customer loyalty isn't of any value there. read more

I was on a trip and driving on the highway when something underneath on my car began dragging and making an awful sound. Other cars were flashing lights and honking. I got off the highway and was lucky to be within 2 miles of this shop which the AAA rep directed me to. They were FABULOUS! I had my dogs with me and they allowed me to bring them into the store while they checked my car. They took it right away, told me what had happened, that the car was safe to drive, and sent me on my way having paid $0. FANTASTIC- friendly and couldn't have been kinder to me. I had 200 miles left on my trip and made it without any trouble. read more

This facility is very clean and inviting. Trendy decor includes faux oak flooring, padded pleather arms chairs, a small keurig coffee bar, and several high tops for guests. The office environment is an open cubicle area with a good amount of staff. The lobby was a lot more crowded than I thought. This is a DMV express location that operates similar to the states' DMV offices. You check in at a front desk triage, then wait for your number to be called. The drawback is that the number system is computerized and the staff have to to assign a number. My service rep was rushed and clumsy, he didn't give me a number until later. read more

I MADE A YELP ACCOUNT LITERALLY JUST TO WRITE THIS REVIEW Towed to them 17 December @8am -was expecting a call from them saying they received the car but that did not happen. -That day their phone was off prior to when they officially closed -I called on the 19th(monday) and was told they would call me when they looked at it on 22nd (Thursday)But did not received a call, -I waited until the following Wednesday (28th) to call them. On the phone they told me that they were waiting to talk to the mechanic and alluded to it having been looked at already and to expect a phone call in return later in the day, was never called back. -after some phone calls back and forth in the past few days they told me that they needed the part but it was on back order, today they suggested going to the dealership bc it would be faster for them to get the part (which just doesn't make sense bc it's the same time frame to get the part on back order). -after telling them I can get the part to them they told me that they just realized they don't have the tools for this job and that I now definitely have to move it to a dealership to fix the part. -now at my new shop and they are telling me that there are no special tools and this company was full of s***. Even through Covid I absolutely love AAA the customer service is always phenomenal they gave me in as quickly as possible and it's always quickly as possible with everything done properly the representative was awesome and help me find any discounts that can possibly help me. I brought the car in for a flat a rather I had it towed in for a flat now it's 24 hours later and they still have the car I'm not impressed.

I lost my wallet and stopped in to get a replacement license. From the time I walked in the door until the time I walked out with a new temporary license was less than 20 minutes. This after trying for over a month to get this done through the regular DMV offices. read more

Went in to get my license renewed, was looking into getting a verified one. The lady told me I needed social security card and brith certificate. No problem, went home.. came back with the information that I was asked to get. Then there was a problem because I didn't have proper proof of address. Also, had my passport for verification which is stated in the renew paperwork as sufficient identification. Asked for my money back and headed over to New Britain DMV. Walked into DMV with the same paperwork I had at AAA and walked out 15 minutes later with a verified license. If having an easier transaction at the DMV doesn't tell you how the plainville AAA treats you then I don't know what else will. read more

Going to DMV is a pleasant experience compared to the service provided at this AAA location.

The new AAA in Southington is bright, airy and inviting. I went in to have my license renewed and it was so much better than waiting at DMV! I was even able to get a quote from the insurance agent for my auto insurance while I waited. She saved me hundreds of dollars! It was well worth the trip in. I should have gone to DMV to renew my license... It was THAT BAD! I would have saved $2. I understand it sometimes takes nearly an hour and a half to take a $68 photo (Two dollars goes to AAA). What is extremely unfair is when the staff call people at random instead of "First-Come, First-Served." One woman was waiting longer than I had been while a different gentleman was in and out in 15 minutes... and he wasn't the only one to be processed early. Normally, I'm a pretty nice guy but I began to lose patience. I went up to the counter and said, "I noticed you're taking customer DMV pictures out of order. Since the order doesn't seem to matter, can I go next?" When I sat down, I noticed she was making a sour face and mouthed, "Blah, Blah, Blah." I'm not sure if this was directed at me or her co-worker who reminded her the photos should be taken in order. Either way, that's pretty unprofessional. If it wasn't for the club towing, I would have canceled my membership then and there. read more

Had an appointment for a Wednesday at 3 P.M. and they didn't start servicing my car until 4 P.M. and then told me they couldn't fix my oil leak at around 5 P.M....if your intention is to go and waste your time and have 0 results then this place is for you. All of these reviews are old the store in Southington just opened at the end of December 2018. I had my license renewed and car serviced at the same time. License was quick and I got my oil change and front brakes done while I was waiting. Everyone was friendly and the prices were good and I got a discount with my membership which was great. I had to renew my license, but before I went down there-I made sure I had every piece of documentation listed on the Real ID DMV site. I was in and out of there within 20 minutes. I did go on a Thursday before lunch but I didn't have one issue and the staff was very friendly. I would go here again. read more

I should have yelpd this location previously. I went to aaa a week ago and walked out with an unrecognizable mug shot. I think the clerk altered the machine...he was not very nice. Also there was a 5 dollar charge on top of the renewal fee for members and non members. I had at least an hour long wait...not worth it. read more

Went to get my license renewed and the woman behind the desk insisted one of my documents wasn't an original, although it was! So I had to go to the DMV which I was trying to avoid and take another personal day off from work. The woman at AAA insisted because it didn't have a stamped seal that it wasn't good enough for them, although for the past 30 years it's what I've used for my original license, my passport, a new social security card, my name change upon marriage etc. This location is a joke and wasted my time and money by making me take a second day off of work! read more

I have been attempting to contact my AAA agent in the Plainville office all day. There is no where I can find a phone number to call them. Countless phone calls later, attempting every option on the recorded line, I still have not been able to get a connection to the office. So glad I have my agent's personal cell number (as we are neighbors), but otherwise the ability to work with AAA in this capacity is poor enough for me to never want to do business with them again. If it wasn't for my fantastic agent, I would NOT do business with them again. Additionally, last week I stopped in the office to make a payment on my upcoming vacation, and waited nearly 20 minutes before walking out...there were 6 employees in the office and one, yes only ONE, other customer. The woman they wanted me to wait for was so very busy on a phone call...which unfortunately I could hear clear as day and had absolutely nothing to do with AAA business, it was CLEARLY a personal call. I returned when I knew my agent was there. Overall, very unhappy with their customer service. And yes, I've been a AAA member for many years. read more
