It's been a few years since our insurance billing issues, so I thought I should update my review. We haven't had any more issues with them billing our insurance since then. They have dropped some coverage with certain insurance companies, but luckily ours wasn't one of them. They have also had a lot of dental hygienist turnover the last couple of years, but they seem to have a full staff again currently. That's been tough for us because we had been spoiled with having the same hygienist for years and got to know them, which added extra comfort to an otherwise stressful experience. I've never enjoyed going to the dentist, but seeing a familiar face had helped ease my anxiety. We love the relaxing spa vibes in this office. It feels clean and comfortable, but not overly clinical like some dentist offices. They offer beverages in the waiting room, which also has a couch and fireplace, making for a cozy environment. We also appreciate that they can make a crown while you wait and watch a Netflix movie. It's nice not have to wait a week for a third party to make the crown and leave the dentist office with a temporary. The in-house crowns we're not something we've experienced before, so that's a huge plus! Overall this is an exceptional dentist office. They have a nice relaxing environment and have the capabilities of performing most dental services in-house. We would highly recommend. read more

From the front office to the hygienist, Whitney who did a great job on cleaning my teeth to the doctor that looked at a tooth issue I've been having, my experience was hands down the best I've received at any dental office. I made a new appointment for myself and my partner as a courtesy to my partner given how much time it takes to make doctors appointments these days. They said there first available was 9 months from now. I asked about a cancellation list and was texted hours after the call with a visit a week later for both of us. I accepted. I called the morning of my visit to ask about their TMJ services and the person I talked to couldn't answer any of my questions. They also repeatedly asked me about why my partner had not filled out his new patient paperwork, as if I am his mother. I told them they could reach out to him but I wasn't sure. Unfortunately the day of, I had a massive migraine. I called to cancel but got a lunch voicemail so sent them an email and asked to be put back on the cancellation list for a specific time frame since they still didn't have any appointments until 8.5 months out. They told me I would have to call every single day to find out if there was an appointment because of the "circumstances surrounding today" ie me cancelling due to acute illness. Also, they asked me if I was cancelling my partners visit even though I made no mention of such, once again as if I'm his mother. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. TLDR, if you're chronically ill or want flexible scheduling, look elsewhere. read more

I'm new in Vancouver, WA, and decided to go with Aadland dental based on the reviews; a big mistake. They checked my benefits and were told that all was good; another mistake. After waiting for over 3 months (the delay was totally justified based on the current circumstances) for a cleaning appointment, I finally had my appointment. First impression: The front staff could use some training in hospitality. My dental hygienist and dentist were professional and friendly. Today, I get a bill from them stating the exam was not covered when everything was run before the appointment and was supposedly fine! I spoke with Ashley who was rude and short and kept insisting that the exam was not covered because it was done somewhere else within the last 6 months and there was no way for them to know beforehand. What's the use of collecting someone's information in-depth and running it before the appointment when none of it's guaranteed to be true? A lesson was learned, although, the hard way. I sure will stay away from this deceptive practice. read more

We drove here from Florida to spend the summer with our grandkids. While here, I felt some discomfort and asked our daughter in law for a dentist reference. In microseconds, she said Aadland! I made the call and within 2 days I was in the chair and receiving the best dental care. Their incredible high tech equipment discovered that I needed a crown. So I came back the next week and they blew me away by manufacturing a perfectly fitting crown within an hour! Equipment is one thing, but the amazing staff's ability to explain and apply was terrific. What a combination...incredible staff with a drive to make my visit the best and equipment to insure the product fits to a tee. "There are 1500 dentists in Vancouver...Please folks...find another!!!" We have been patients since this clinic opened- 10+ years! My husband was told by the dentist, while he sat in the chair ready to begin getting a crown "There are 1500 dentists in Vancouver... go find yourself one" and she walked out. No procedure!!! . My husband was just asking questions about the procedure and what things mean (since we have been patients for over 10 years) and she walked out on him. The assistant took the bib off of him and said he disrespected the dentist and he needed to leave. HE was STUNNED but most of all so humiliated beyond belief. There are two sides to every story- here are our two... after 10 years... He called when one of their "homemade" crowns broke over the weekend asking for the dentist to call him back several times as he did not know what to do. NEVER got a call back... she said "she was at her cabin and out of range and he did not look like an emergency." Then he walked in on Monday with a sore mouth and she ground the tooth down to the nub and said he needed another crown. So he was there to get one, simply just asking her questions about the process and she walked out on him. Seriously- no angry words were shared. He was just in the middle of a conversation when they told him to leave...because he was asking questions about it. They told me after I had the WORST cleaning of my history there, that I had a "perio " cleaning" and was a "Perio"patient ... not a "regular" patient. I had no idea of the difference so I spoke to DR Aadland about how I felt and she made it right by giving me another cleaning at no charge. They made it right and cleaned my teeth perfectly after all of that. Never before was a cleaning a problem. The work that Dr Aadland does is phenomenal but after being long time patients and referring people to them with these kind of outcomes... how humiliating. Aadland dental- Take the plaque down in your waiting room about us, the patient. and put this up... "There are 1500 dentists in Vancouver folks....go find another one". Thanks for the advice... Sarah Tyler, RDH did my teeth cleaning. She explained everything she was going to do first, gave me several options for pain management, and was very thorough in her work. Her precision and soft touch made the task so much more comforting and her explaining what she's doing as she's doing it made the experience that much better. Then Lenna Ostenson, D.D.S., came in to take care of two of my molars that were too close together. She expertly and with the same care and detail as experienced with Sarah, got the problem solved. All the staff is wonderful and so nice. I am so happy I switched. What a difference it makes to work with people who truly know exactly what they're doing and actually care. I went to this place because of the reviews. My appointment was with dr lenna ostenson. She was talking to her assistant the whole time and she didn't explain to me what she did. I ended up with so much pain and doing a root canal at another place. And they kept calling me for crown at their place. I never went back. They told me my insurance is not paying anymore because they overpaid. I went to other dentist and it was a different story. They just care about money and not patients. I don't recommend. Went here to save a few bucks on a dental implant. Was given three different estimates from three different staff members. In the end, I did save about $500 off my regular dentist, who is near retirement. I was hoping to find a new regular dentist, but this isn't it. They have a fancy new machine that build crowns for implants, but no two staff members could agree on how the procedure would go. One said that the whole thing could be done in one appointment, but it took two. The worst part was that Dr. Aadland had a terrible time attaching my implant, and at one point left me in the chair for several minutes with equipment still in my mouth as she went next door to consult frantically with an oral surgeon. I hate to stereotype, but I had the same problems here that I have had with other female-owned businesses. Too much talk about how great their business is, and too little emphasis on the actual product, in this case dentistry. A quasi-holistic approach to dentistry is all well and good, but some of us just want quality dentistry and really don't care about how the dentist's dog is always there to calm people. The seminar, presentation or whatever the hell was going on in the crowded waiting room on the way out was rather off-putting. The whole approach was rather inadequate in an office where the dentist clearly doesn't communicate well with staff. My experience was not even close to pain-free, and Dr. Aadland seems to be in need of additional training in basic dentistry. Overall, a disappointing experience. I continue to search for a truly good dentist as my current provider nears retirement. read more

I've been seeing the doctor for a few years now, and I am completely happy with her performance. The new office is great, not to mention much closer to Portland than the Battle Ground one. The waiting room is small but not cramped and surprisingly relaxing. It boasts a flat screen TV, beverage area that also has fresh fruit and a case for retail items--from which I've bought a toothbrush. The work area is divided into individual sections, so that you don't have to see any other patients in the office getting work done. The hygienists are great! They always remember me, what's going on in my life, and make me feel welcomed. They are thorough in their cleaning while being gentle, specifically Erin takes the time to explain what she is doing and why--which helps me better understand how to adjust my habits to ensure proper dental hygiene. Dr a. is fantastic--I couldn't ask for a more thorough and friendly dentist. She has performed one filling that I can recall--and it was painless and quick. I just had the best dental experience I've ever had. I needed to replace two fillings and get a new crown. This was my second time there. The staff is terrific. They have Netflix so they put on a movie above my head and I wore earphones. While the dentist drilled away, I watched a movie and by the time it was over, she was done. The facility has the latest gadgets so my crown was made right there. I was only in the chair two hours for all. No temporary crown; no going back. They really are state-of-the-art and know what they are doing. read more

Being a dental chicken due to past dental work, I have been hesitant to book a dental appointment for more than a few years. My fears however proved groundless as Dr. Aadland and her staff were very caring (no lectures about not keeping up with regular exams) and very supportive; they actually leave YOU in charge and work hard to make sure YOU are comfortable before proceeding. I really wanted to like Aadland Dental. And, in many ways, I did like Aadland dental. The Pros: - State of the art technology (Netflix during a filling?!) - Clean, friendly office environment - Female dentist (something I was looking for in particular because, unlike a previous commenter, I actually specifically seek to support women-owned businesses) However, I am disappointed that my experience ended very negatively, as a result of the billing process completed by Aadland, as well as the experience I had today with their office manager. The story goes that in 2015 my husband and I visited Aadland to have a few procedures done. I was new to this dentist and new to my dental insurance, but I wasn't given any breakdown of coverage by Aadland. Additionally, I was never shown an estimate of charges for booked or completed procedures. Ultimately, after my husband and I had completed 4 appointments, I asked a woman at the front desk how much I owed, to which she exclaimed, "Wow, nothing! You must have a great employer- Your insurance covered everything!". The excitement and friendliness is the main reason I remember this comment and interaction very clearly, even two years later. Fast forward several months, I received a call from a collector, stating that I have an unpaid balance of approx $200. As someone who takes my credit/debit very seriously, I was very alarmed and contacted the office immediately to confirm. It was then that I was told that I had an unpaid balance from my visits. When I explained that I had no knowledge of the balance (read above), I was promptly told that I had received several bills in the mail. Now, this is definitely my bad, as I routinely throw out mail that I anticipate being junk mail, which I likely did in this case. Even still, I never received and email or phone call from the office, to which the office manager stated they were not obligated to do so (true, but still). I immediately paid the account in full. The main reason for my upset is that I recently reached out to Aadland dental in hopes of correcting this on my credit, as it is financially impacting my family through a home purchase. Despite my explanation, I was met with condescension (please don't call me "sweetie"), inflexibility, and what can only be described as callus vindictiveness. It was clear that the office manager could not and did not believe my explanation, and Dr. Aadland herself said that it wasn't something they were willing to ask the credit reporter to remove (I can only assume on principle). I basically begged that they reconsider, and I was flat told "no". I post this so that others can make sure this doesn't happen to them. Be sure to ask for an estimate of all services, before they are performed, and ask to pay up front (the latter of which I did). Even still, be sure to question anytime you are told you don't owe for a service. And (as a good general piece of advice) don't assume you don't owe money and open all your mail (my clear miss). Needless to say, this $200 late payment will cost me thousands in the long run. And Aadland dental definitely played a hand in this by not providing information upfront, as well as giving misinformation upfront (whether they believe this to be true or not). read more

Yay, a dental review! Yay, a POSITIVE dental review! Now I wouldn't want to give a review without experiencing a filling, so I held out before writing this review. See how self-sacrificing I am for you, my fellow Yelpers?? Thank you, tip jar is by the door. :) This was a positive experience, from beginning to end. I had heard about Aadland Dental from my boyfriend, and, after a not-so-positive experience at my previous dentist, decided to try Kristine with my next cleaning. They are located in Vancouver, not far off I-5, and easy to find, especially in their new location. Though I usually try to locate medical services close-by, for a good dentist, I'd be willing to drive half way to the moon...and this is totally worth it: only about 20 minutes from where I live in NE Portland. Boyfriend, you earned major points with this recommendation. :) As their new office was still in the process of being built, my initial cleaning was in their 'old' space. The hygienist was thorough and friendly, and very kindly spaced her conversation with the times when her hand was not in my mouth (a pet peeve of mine, so great job!). Kristine was very friendly as she checked my mouth for the inevitable cavities. Their temporary space was in an older office. but they'd done a great job of updating the area with soothing colors. By the time my inevitable filling rolled around, they had moved into their new office, which is beautiful--Kristine had had a lot of input in the design of the space, and it is very spacious and full of light. Their equipment is all new technology, some of which was completely new and different to me, and all of it improved my personal experience. I'm a bit phobic when it comes to needles, and always tell the dentist before they go to work. Kristine gave me quite possibly the best shot I'd had in the last 10 years. She was very patient, took her time, and reminded me to keep breathing as I freaked myself out. :) Thanks, Kristine! The actual fillings were no trouble whatsoever, and I didn't feel a thing during nor afterward. Another positive element of the experience was that Kristine did not try to upsell me on anything. This was different than several of my previous dental experiences. I told her (on my own) that I was interested in a new mechanical toothbrush, she recommended the cheaper model, as I have a small mouth (contrary to what my older brother claims). Everyone hates going to the dentist, especially when they need ... wait for it... not one, but TWO crowns. Awesome. So I just had to have another crown last year, and it was a horrid experience and I hated the dentist who was with Cascade Dental. Which led me to Aadland. I just randomly found them online and it was the first place with an available opening. The office was very nice. I liked the rooms as they felt more separate than most where you can see and hear others. Or hear them mumbling. The view was nice with windows out to a fenced area landscaped with rocks and a water fountain. They offer blankets, Netflix shows on a nice flat-screen TV and great noise-canceling earphones. All the staff were great, and the dentist top-notch. She explained everything that was happening, going to happen and made sure I was comfortable. I didn't feel rushed or feel like she was rushed either, which I have always felt at every other dentist. I also liked some of the little touches like the constant application of chapstick. This was the very first time I've walked out of a dentist office without dry cracked lips from my mouth gaping open for hours. No dry lips at all! It may be a girl thing, but it's also just a nice added touch. It makes clients feel like you care. So I found my new dentist. Just in time because I need even more work since all my teenage fillings are deciding to deteriorate at the same time! read more

This place is amazing! I brought my daughter here because of horrible pain she was experiencing that her regular pediatric dentist couldn't seem figure out. I desperately needed a second opinion, and my mother in law recommended Dr. Kris. Aadland got her in right away, checked her out, and found the source of her pain. My daughter is HIGHLY afraid of needles (who's not), but Dr. Kris was so patient, kind, and skilled that, after the anesthesia, my daughter exclaimed, "That didn't even hurt mom!!" I almost choked on my coffee because I never would have thought I'd hear those words at the dentist! They fixed her up and her pain was gone. I can't explain the relief for my daughter and myself as we had been up the last few nights with the pain. Dr. Kris' work was excellent and solid. Even from the moment we walked in and greeted by the front desk, we felt cared for, listened to and comfortable. I highly recommend Aadland Dental! read more
