Loved this place so much picked up today as my partner is under the weather and it sounded like a perfect remedy. We ordered Yellow Veggie Curry(7), Pa Nang Shrimp Curry(4), Thai Iced Tea (coconut milk), and Sweet Mango Sticky Rice - truly everything was top notch, tasted so fresh, and had perfect heat levels. The mango sticky rice made my heart sing, and honestly, so did the Thai Iced Tea- delicious per usual but the cup was as big as my head!!‍ Something we loved about their takeout experience is the packaging!! Curry was cling wrapped in order to not leak and the Thai Iced Tea comes with a little red heart stopper and is very well sealed so you can shake it while, like me, choosing to wear a white jumpsuit today, and yet magically having no issues! Both curry and tea packaging are reusable/recyclable as well! The woman who served me was so kind and seemed genuinely thrilled to have gotten a tip on a to-go order, so quick reminder to all to TIP ON TAKEOUT! The kitchen is still cooking it, the servers still have to put your order in correctly, get it organized (slower than usual due to being in enclosed cases) in a way that doesn't get mixed up with other orders or spill, remember the utensils/condiments you MIGHT need(which is typically set at your table), and package it up all while taking regular in-house orders. We in the service industry make low wages but (some of us) still put a lot of love into our work, and that's not brushed aside for takeout. Tips make a difference, not only because you're already budgeting to eat out, even $2 is kinder than nothing, but also because it changes the moral in the workplace. Your work is felt appreciated. From start to finish, you made me feel like family, checked on me frequently, and just made me incredibly welcomed at the restaurant. I stumbled upon AAHARN by Koon Thai after a massive craving for some Thai food, and let's just say, AAHARN delivered. They delivered hard. The prices are a bit high, but you get an insanely generous portion. Plus, it's a Thai restaurant in Little Italy. I wasn't one bit surprised. My favorite dish of the evening was the Galangal Coconut Broth. Best. Freaking. Soup. Ever. I enjoyed this more than my entree. I could have this soup for days, if not weeks. Well seasoned. Well cooked. The toppings and meat were all fresh. I'm legit salivating thinking about this. If you're looking for an addition to your meal, and don't want to settle for a cliche appetizer, I strongly encourage adding this dish to your order. My entree of the evening was the Pad Thai Tiger Prawn. The noodles definitely reminded me of my time in Bangkok. Each ingredient was well-prepared, including the ground peanuts that had an alluring authentic taste and aroma. I was a bit so-so on the tiger prawns, as they were a tad bit smaller than I'm typically used to. They were also grilled, and you can smell the smoke and fumes in each and every bite. Again, I think it didn't add too much for me. Overall, the pad thai was decent, not the best I've had, but with the generous portions, I'd definitely consider ordering this again. We've been getting delivery or takeaway more often because of the public health problems of late. What better type of food for delivery on a rainy and cloudy day than Thai food?! I did appreciate how neatly the food was packaged and labeled upon receiving it from the DoorDash delivery person. What I did not enjoy was how bland the food was. I think the best part of the meal was the salad (no dressing given in the delivery) because the romaine lettuce was nice and crisp. The ginger soup did taste like ginger, but for some reason, it had no bite to it. I felt as if there was a bit of tomato juice in the broth that dulled the flavor? The seafood quinoa curry seemed like an interesting type of curry not seen on many Thai restaurant menus. Unfortunately, expectations were not met. The curry flavor was okay. I appreciated that the dish was not too full of quinoa because I am not the hugest fan of the grain. Decent sized chunks of seafood were in the curry. I ordered salmon curry and appetizer short ribs. And I must say, salmon curry was really good. Salmon was cooked right, it was moist and juicy. The sauce matched the salmon really well. The flavor of the curry was awesome. And the part I appreciated a lot, there was like 4 different kinds of potatoes used in the dish, allowing me to enjoy the dish 4 different ways. Kudos to the chef who got that idea. One criticism, carrots were a bit undercooked. And now I must say, appetizer short ribs were junk. Are you kidding me, how long has that ribs been in the warmer? It takes awhile for the rib meat to deteriorate in the quality, and wow, it was dry as hell. Take that thing off the menu, man. Gees. But 5 stars though. Salmon curry rocked my day. read more

Throughly impressed by this hole in the wall thai spot. I got the red curry with chicken, medium spicy. The curry had great flavor without being too sweet. Good amount of chicken and veggies as well as eggplant which was a nice addition I don't normally see. Fresh Thai basil on top was a nice touch. I love spicy, like Dave's hot chicken highest spice level with barely a sweat, but this was extremely spicy for medium. I was crying and my mouth was on fire but I loved it. Be forewarned. I'll probably go one level down next time. I'm surprised on the mixed reviews. Perhaps different dishes vary on their spice levels and flavor. BEST soup ever! WOW! It seriously does not get enough hype for its actually very tasty food options. Their options of mixing their crispy noodles with the soup with vegetables to the side to add to your liking along with the fresh red chili peppers. The peanut and oils blended amazingly! There are seriously so many options the hardest part is choosing so I highly recommend going on an empty stomach. The convenience of the location is quite well with Stone Brewing nextdoor and the Santa Fe train station just steps away. What is actually quite lovely about this location, is that precisely, it's not to the eye of the passerby and makes for a very serene and intimate setting for date night or to wind down. I visited Aaharn last month, as soon as I disembarked from my train at the Santa Fe station on a Friday evening. I'd noticed Aaharn the last time I was in town, and had promised myself I'd go there the next time I had a class in San Diego. Aaharn had such a chill atmosphere. I was greeted as soon as I came in, and my food was in front of me before I knew it. I ordered the panang curry with tofu. It was, quite possibly, the best panang curry I've had to date. (And let me just say - I've had quite a few panang curries in my day!) It wasn't overly spicy, nor overwhelmingly peanut-y. It struck a nice balance of heat with deliciousness. I didn't want my dish to end. But alas, as all good things do, end it did. I found the prices quite reasonable, especially given its location. Staff were warm and friendly, with just the right amount of attentiveness. I will be back very, very soon. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking by. I was a little confused at the setup at first as it seems the outdoor seating area is shared with a sandwich spot and a brewery and you don't really have to speak to anyone at all to order food. We ended up getting a green curry with veggies and tofu and parang red curry with chicken. We requested both to be at around a 7/10 for spicy, and they were VERY SPICY. If you have a low spice tolerance, I would recommend getting the curries mild. Nonetheless, this was probably the best Thai curry I have ever had. It had the perfect amount of chicken, broccoli, and carrots and it completely hit the spot when I was starving. My friend asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday, so we all met up here last night. This restaurant is from the same owners as Koon Thai, so I was excited to try out their menu. Since they are located in a plaza, it was easy to find parking. Reservations were made in advance, so our table was ready when we arrived. The table was nicely decorated, with a long fake succulent in the center. The menu is a little small, but they offered plenty of different items that looked interesting. My husband and I shared the chicken satay and nom tok nuer. I also ordered the po tak, a side of sticky rice, and a Thai iced tea. He wanted some edadame and a giant thing of Singha beer to share with the boys. Everything I tried was just okay. I was expecting my dishes to have more heat since we were warned that their spice level is much higher than at other places. At the end of my meal, our server brought out a scoop of vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce and blueberries. It was a bit too sweet with the sauce, but overall the quality and flavor was nice. Service was also pleasant, but some dishes took a long time to come out. The salads were the last to arrive at our table, which was odd. I also noticed that they have a cooking channel on the TV by the kitchen. You can see the chef in the kitchen is the same one that was airing. It was pretty neat to watch, but since you can't hear what they're saying, you won't be able to learn much. read more

I have always passed by this place but never actually went in to try. Living right across from it, I decided to check them out. I went in around 7:30pm to get some delicious Thai food. I ordered the following: gyoza, papaya salad, freshly made rolls, chicken satay and finally red curry with mix wild rice. I got to say, I was feeling as if I was in Thailand for a moment. Took me back to the days in Bangkok, Phuket and Phi Phi Island. I ordered as takeout so went straight in and ordered at the bar where the waitress took my order. It took about 15min before I had the full bag with all the essentials ready to go. She was also very nice and very helpful. Will definitely come back here again in a near future. read more

I used to live in the McClintock Loft above, so AAHARN was an easy go-to. Unfortunately, every time I've ordered from there the food was subpar, and the service leveled out to the same. We always order crab fried rice w/shrimp and without fail, there are only two shrimp in the entire order. One thing that really bothers me is if I'm paying extra for shrimp, please don't skimp. I've order the green curry and it's too watered down. The pad Thai with prawns was good, however the noodles were joint together as if it had been sitting out for awhile before being served. Once I ordered panang curry to-go, they said it was $3.74 for 8 oz. When I picked up the order, the cups seemed very small. I went home and measured, it was only 4 oz. When I called to complain, I was told to return the curry and they would give me a refund. I told them I'll come down to get the other 4oz that was missing. She said she'd have to charge me another $3.75... This happened months ago, however leaving this review and reliving the situation has upset me again, so much so that I dropped from 3 stars to 2. read more
