Absolutely amazing. Was craving poke and this hit the spot! I hit the ahi tuna and spicy tuna. Definitely worth going to!

The salmon was fresh and the toppings were colorful and delicious. You could make your own bowl or choose one of the menu options already created. I was the only customer so I didn't have to wait! The restaurant has outdoor seating and was nice and clean.

My friend invited me to try Hi Poke in Downtown San Diego. I had the Scallop Dynamite, which is baked, and I loved the ingredient options, especially the edamame, seaweed, crab, onions, and more! There are plenty of tables and seating both inside and outside, which is nice. The staff is friendly, and the place itself is pretty good. The only downside is that the bathroom is quite far, you have to walk to the Jail Museum and ask for the code. But on the bright side, it's a great spot to explore! Just a heads-up, parking always comes with a fee (it's downtown, after all, haha).

My family did pick your own poke bowls, so they basically made their own bowls based on the great selection the place had. I was impressed by the sauce options, especially since I love spicy food. The prices were average and the place was not too big inside but had a cute ambiance with a few tables. There were tables outside so you could get your bowl and eat there. I appreciated that the employee did not serve just a little bit of protein for each scoop since some other poke places I've been to have been stingy with the protein.

Ordered: Pick Your Own Poke (~$20): brown rice, proteins: salmon, tuna, shrimp, sauces: Hi Poke classic and spicy mayo, toppings: green onions, red onion, cucumber, edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad, ginger, seaweed, masago, crisp: crispy onion and crispy garlic Aya's take: Poke is my go-to when I need a quick and healthy meal. It's located in Seaport Village, not too far from the Convention Center. Hi Poke has all the toppings you would expect and you can tell they use good quality fish. I liked the mix of sauces and the freshness of all the toppings making this a very satisfying bowl. It wasn't busy at all when I got there and there's some eating indoors but plenty of seating outdoors as well. Great spot if you're in the area looking to get your poke fix!

    Salmon lover bowl. Added cucumbers.

Came here for something healthy and because of the ratings. It did not disappoint! Fresh ingredients and made fast. It was delicious!

A bit quiet in this place, could be low volume business. Got two bowl of tuna Poki, very disappointed as we asked for cilantro. A lady definitely saw that those cilantro in her container already welded, black snd bruised. She still put it in the bowls for us. My daughter was asking me why this cilantro is black. I had to pick through it and throw them out for her. Not recommended and never to back. Always have to maintain freshness for ready to eat food serve to any customer. If you can't maintain consistency. Soon, no one would come to your place.

Not really one to be a Karen on yelp but I got my food to go and when I got home my poke had two dead flies in it. A third small bug was moving around before I even popped the lid open. Needless to say I didn't eat it and I can't get a hold of them to get a refund. Bummed.

See how many pieces of eel you get and how thin they are. Totally not worth the price tag.

Had to get something delivered during a lunch rush at a conference, and Hi Poke had the shortest wait time, so I decided to give it a try. The food came pretty quick, unfortunately that was the only good thing about my experience. First of all, the meal came without utensils. Luckily I was able to ask for utensils from the hotel. Then the food was so overpriced for what it is. I ordered an eel bowl, and it only came with 4 thin pieces of eel. All for almost $20!!!! Definitely don't recommend this place.

For $20+ a bowl you'd expect a little more courtesy. Went here last night only bc it was the closest poke place close to the Rady Shell. The place was not well lit- red flag bc I can't see the freshness of the fish or veggies. I looked first at the cucumbers to see if they were slimy. It was definitely wet and soggy....thinly sliced and it was kept in water ?? I found that to be odd that it was stored in water? That was a first time for me and an automatic red flag so I passed on ordering anything for myself. My daughter was really hungry so she requested for a little more rice and the gal said no it was only the one scoop which was like the size an ice cream scoop. That was another first for us... we've never had an experience where they'll decline a request for a little more rice. It's not like she even offered to charge us more for the rice... Her attitude was not appreciated so we decided to not order the other bowls and left.

Underwhelming. I was attending a research meeting at a nearby hotel and it was raining like crazy in typically sunny San Diego so I needed a nearby place ideally outside the giant hotel I'm stuck in all day. Hi Poki was hidden in the far back corner of a half deserted shopping area ironically surrounding a former historical prison. Tables outside were drenched so I had to eat inside at a table with a red (not clean) cloth tablecloth covering it. Place was empty and I ordered a do it yourself Poki bowl for $20 plus tax ($22). It was underwhelming. Mostly brown rice and some limited greens with three itty bitty scoops of fish. The sauces were a little too sweet for me and since the bowl was kinda small once you added the toppings and crunchy stuff a little hard to mix it up and dive in without spilling it all on that red tablecloth. Not great. At best good. I'd pass.

Build Your Own Bowl. Sushi rice had undercooked grains.

In a cute little plaza. Decently priced. My go-to for a quick sunny San Diego lunch in the area.

    Are the owners from Hawaii?

They're a married couple from Japan. They're really chill and they get their hands dirty with their crew so you'd never think they own it because they hide in plain sight.

This was my first time trying this place and I came in with high expectations after doing my…read moreresearch. The restaurant itself looked clean, which was a good first impression. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. I placed my order online four hours in advance because I have a long drive back home to Julian and just wanted to pick it up and go. When I arrived, there was no greeting from staff, no clear pickup line, and no acknowledgment of customers waiting. The staff seemed to have tunnel vision, only focusing on what was directly in front of them while ignoring everyone else. After standing there for quite a while, I finally had to ask about my order. Instead of it being ready like it should have been, they hadn't even started making it. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes in line for something that was ordered hours earlier. What made it worse was when the mistake became obvious, no one apologized or acknowledged the inconvenience. The staff acted like it was no big deal and showed zero professionalism or accountability. I don't come into the city often, but when I do I like to try new places. Sadly, this experience was disappointing and the customer service was extremely poor. I would honestly say save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values their customers--especially in this economy. Time is money, and money is time. If a restaurant doesn't respect your time, they're definitely not going to respect your money. As for the food, it was very basic and lacked flavor. They were also very stingy with the sauce, which made the bowl even more dry and underwhelming. Overall, between the poor service, long wait despite ordering hours ahead, lack of accountability from staff, and mediocre food, this place was a big disappointment. I will not be coming back. There are plenty of better places that actually value their customers. Thank you and have a nice day.

I've given this place so many chances due to their consistently high reviews, but I must be missing…read moresomething or just unlucky. Their fish quality was kind of gross last time, and they tend to over sauce everything else. I could not finish my bowl or even take more than 3 bites of my food. I did order the food about an hour before closing, but if the fish is going to decrease in quality THAT much, it is best to close earlier! I've also been many times in the morning and/or mid day and yet, still equally as unimpressed. At what point do you just admit it's not worth giving extra chances to anymore?

I had been to SD twice before and wanted to check out somewhere I hadn't been. Enter Blue Water - the reviews and pics looks great, and the weather called for seafood, so I decided to head here and check it out. This Blue Water is located on India St in Mission Hills, though they have another location in Ocean Beach. Parking can be a little tricky, as there is no parking lot they are on a main road close to a split in a residential area. The interior is pretty spacious - the fish market is towards the front, and the ordering counter is in the back. Seating is spread out between the main area where the market is, a side room, and outdoors in the front. Decor and aesthetics are casual - very seafood restaurant-esque with straightforward design. The foot traffic set up so you order first and then find a table before they serve your meal to you. The menu is extensive - they have a large selection of fish that can be prepared several ways. It's a little overwhelming to take in, but there was no pressure for us to order; if there's a line all the more time to explore. I ultimately decided to get their mini shrimp tacos - these were served on a corn tortilla and topped with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, white sauce, and cheddar cheese with a side of tomatillo sauce. The tacos were great - super fresh, they didn't skimp on the shrimp, and all the flavors and textures worked really well together. I also ordered a cup of NE clam chowder which was good - not the best one I've had but for being in Southern California it held its own. Service was good - I'm seeing reviews of long lines but I think I came at the right time; there are barely a line to order and my meal was served shortly after that. Overall, Blue Water is a yes - I had a great experience here and wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in SD.

The worst part is, it wasn't even polite when they asked us. All the employees were giving us attitude for something they didn't tell us when we arrived, nor when they gave us the high chair. They want all four of us to stand in line instead of sitting at the empty tables. They seriously need training on customer service, at least to show empathy, sincerity and apologize to customers. I guess they don't care because we're Asian and believe they don't need our business here.
