Filed a claim with CarShield Oct. 8th 2024 used Aamco 1027 E. GUN HILL ROAD BRONX NY 10467 as repair service which works with CarShield. Service Engine Soon Light, first scan they claimed it was the transmission, CarShield paid out $6k Aamco held my car for 2 weeks with no repairs made! No rental from CarShield, Enterprise blamed CarShield, & CarShield blamed Enterprise. Then they replaced the transmission in 2 days, I paid $841 out of pocket. Had the car for 2 days and Service Engine Soon light back on! Came in to Aamco 2nd time, they scan car & now it's a Mass Flow Air Sensor, Charged me $100 over Nissan's price of $215.63 $600 total. Picked up car Friday 11/1/24 a day 11/3/24 later Service Engine Soon light back on! Aamco wants me to bring in car a 3rd time! Refusing to refund my money, forcing me to bring car back! Putting a bandage over the issue to make me spend more money instead of actually fixing the car! Now I have to go to another mechanic and pay more fees to get the car repaired. CarShield now blaming AAMCO. Worse experience I have ever had! Now I'm back where I started and car still not repaired! CarShield false advertisement! I've had only great experiences at this shop. I've been coming here for over six years and two cars. Auto repair used to give me anxiety but this shop makes the customers feel very comfortable. When I bought my new (used) Accord, I called ahead to make an appointment to have my car inspected and was told to come right in. Sure enough, I got my inspection without issue. They didn't keep me waiting long and they had an impressive selection of magazines in their waiting room, which was nice. It wasn't all car magazines; they even had reading materials en español. Gracias! But the simple inspection is not what compelled me to write another review. After driving countless times this summer to the most southern points of NJ and the most eastern points of LI, my breaks were kind of wonky and that is terrifying. I called AAMCO and was told they were running a break special - $130 for new breaks. That is 2 1/2 times LESS than my friend paid another spot. I picked up my car on Saturday and I'm so happy to report that it stops when I need it to. Pathetic that that's what makes me happy nowadays. I was promised a service for a finite price in a set amount of time and they delivered without excuses and without changing terms. I also have to tell you, not to play the uterus card, but as a woman, many trade "professionals" ie mechanics, have spoken to me like I was an idiot, a child or both. Horrible place would not recommend. I will say before going on that Anthony and Jesus seem like they wanna help truly so my main issue really comes down to the mechanics not professional at all every visit my car ran worse and worse and always found little undone work or half covered up damages and still after months my car runs like shit now nothing compared to before I serviced my transmission with them. 1.first issue my transmission came broken and was siliconed in 2. Bolt holding the transmission was quite literally unscrewed 3. Loss of power and torque at the end my car just never ran the same. After years of living in fear of taking my car in for service, I have finally found a place that I actually trust to take care of my car. I never thought I would feel good about car repair but Anthony and Marco, the managers here, have really helped me. Marco said my car needed an alternator, a very fixable thing and I had my car back on the road in one day. One. Day. After the dealership had it for over a week!!! After taking my car to the dealership, I was offered (coerced really) into trading it in. I didn't have desire or funds to do so and I just wanted to have my car fixed. I took my car here and was given a honest evaluation. My dealership told me the car was "basically unfixable" that's why it wasn't starting. It would start sometimes but not others and it was extremely frustrating. I had my car towed from the dealership to this aamco on Gun Hill. In may of 2020, I brought my 2000 Lincoln Navigator to the Bronx location (1027 E. Gun Hill Road, Bronx NY 10467) for stalling. I was told a few days later by the service advisor, a man named "Kier" that there was "major blow-back from the EGR and that there was oil leaking all over the place." Kier suggested that the only way my Lincoln Navigator could be saved was by means of performing a "motor swap"... After the motor swap was done, I had to bring the Navigator back on July 24th then again on October 13th when a check engine light came on. When I brought my truck in for service on 10/13/20 I was reassured by the service manager, Anthony Solito that the work on the motor was being double checked. I was told by Mr Solito a few days after that "the Navigator requires a new fuel tank, she's leaking from the EGR lines." So I left the truck at AAMCO. I called multiple times for updates and was given the same song and dance of "We're still trying to locate an acceptable fuel tank" - on November 2nd of 2020, after 3 weeks I decided to go to AAMCO to see about the status of my truck. I came to learn that NO WORK was done on my navigator in the entire 3 weeks the truck was in possession of AAMCO. Approximately one week ago (03/15/20), I was driving to work then the Navigator began acting funny idling really hard. I made it home the next morning and connected my ODB-II device which showed that the engine had misfires in cylinders 3 4 and 7. I took the Navigator to have a tune up done thinking that was all that was needed to return the Navigator to active service. The technician who performed the replacement of the ignition coils and spark plugs said that "the spark plugs and coil boots were "completely saturated in motor oil. I'm willing to bet because of faulty valve cover and intake gaskets." The technician then asked "Do you know if AAMCO had put a rebuilt engine or a junkyard engine in the truck?" read more

I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS HERE EVER AGAIN & I'M SPREADING THE WORD TO EVERYONE NOT TO TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. First of all they don't have a diagnostic machine so they "GUESS' what your car's problem is. They claim they drive your car around & try to "recreate" the problem, which doesn't work with all car problems depending on the problem. I took my car there July 7, 2023 while the problem was happening. They had my car for 3 weeks & NEVER DID A THING. They also had my car parked on the street the entire time it was there and had the nerve to hold my car keys hostage until $1,100 was paid for storage. They don't own the street so how can they charge for storage when they parked my car on the street all day & all night? I have pictures of my car parked on the street late at night & all weekend. They didn't know I had pictures & I had other people that checked on my car & also took pictures. When I asked the young black man at the front desk why my car was parked on the street he said " they already stole your catalytic converter so there's nothing else to steal." What kind of an excuse was that? I called after my car was there for 2 weeks & spoke to Jesus. He was rude, disrespectful & unprofessional to me, an elderly black woman. When I asked him why my car was parked on the street he lied & said "your car is put inside every night when we close.". He said he personally put my car inside. I told him that was a lie & I drove there almost every might, especially on the weekends to check my car. When I told him that he started yelling & cursing. "I'll be glad when you get your F**king car out of here. I'm sick of that F**king car but $1,100 has to be paid for storage before the car & the keys would be released". I was absolutely shocked & angry that he had the nerve to talk to me like that. I hung up on him because no one talks to me like that. I am a elderly black female & I was a customer. My insurance company had to pay the $1,100 so I could get my car towed to another place that would fix it. I also had electrical work that needed to be done but the owner, Anthony, told me they don't do electrical work. I filed a complaint with AAMCO's headquarters. They contacted the shop where my car was in the Bronx. Those lying, scammers sent the headquarters fake invoices & dated them in May, June & July saying that's how long my car was there. THAT IS A LIE!!!! I asked for copies of the fake, bogus invoices & NEVER got them. I'm going to get a lawyer & sue them. I'm filing complaints with every agency possible to expose them for their rude, unprofessional, lying, scamming business practice. I'm even thinking about contacting a few news stations just to expose them & make people aware of how I was treated & ripped off. I want the $1,100 back because my car was parked on the public street, which they don't own & that's not storage. I was never told I would be charged storage or what the storage fee was. read more

These guys are some of the nicest people I have ever met, they will go to great lengths to make it a stress free environment. I am a regular at this location. I recently got my rear brakes and calipers done in August 2019 and came back to them for a second opinion today on my front brakes when I went to another auto shop to get my inspection and they said they wouldn't pass my car because my front brakes needed to be done immediately which didn't make any sense. Called Anthony immediately and he told me to bring in the car and he would take look at the car free of charge. I came here because i thought my transmission was going bad , while i was getting that looked at I asked for and submitted coupons for a free transscan and a multi point check. Employee helps me identify issue which was bearings not the transmission. So I ask how much to properly fix this issue. He says well your going to need ball joints struts outer tie rods and another part that's going to run you about 1500.00 parts and labor. I say wow that seems like a lot he replies that's a lot of work. He charges me the 28 dollars for an oil change i requested but doesn't do any of the free coupons I submitted. I got the work done some where else for 850.00 parts labor and guarantee, my big issue is you inflated a quote on a job you clearly didn't want to do and then didn't even fulfill the obligation of the coupon specials you offer. That left me with a pretty bad taste in my mouth, thus you are the recipient of my first non food yelp review. read more

We own a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. On July 11, 2019, I took it in because I had sensors on (ABS/traction control/check engine). The receipt I received noted that the work done was remove/replace brake shoes or pads (front) with better semi metallic advanced friction formula, remove/replace tie rod end (inner/both sides), ball joint front suspension (lower), engine mounts, oil cooler, wheel alignment and tire rotation, oil and filter change. I picked it up 07/18/19 $2500 later. All the sensors were off. A few days later, the sensors all come back on. We took it back, they did whatever work they did to it and the sensors were off. A few days later, the check engine sensor comes back on. The car continues to run and we needed it so in October, we took it back. Now the rear brakes are grinding. The paperwork we received from them stated that the oil pump and rear brake pads have been replaced. We picked up the car on 10/02 $899.69 later. The check engine sensor is off. The check engine sensor comes back on. We take the car back. On October 4, 2019, the paperwork I received noted that the catalytic converter (rear) was replaced. I picked up the car $101.80 later. It is now 12/05 and the ABS and traction sensors are back on, the brakes are grinding again and there is now a knocking at when the van is put in reverse. read more

On Thursday the 31st of August 2017 I had the unfortunate luck that my Hummer H3 broke down because of some transmission problem. What made my day was that I chose to bring my truck to this AAMCO on Gun Hill Rd. From the 1st call I made to Marco the AAMCO associate, he was a pleasant person to speak with and willing to assist me with my problem. Once my truck was brought in by tow, they quickly took my information and immediately started diagnosing the problem. Anthony (transmission specialist) was very knowledgeable of my situation and along with his experience was quickly able to determined the problem and rectify it (transmission line repair). As quickly as my truck went into the shop was almost as quick as it went out. My experience here at AAMCO was fantastic. The staff (Marco & Anthony) that I dealt with were very experienced, courteous and helpful in producing the service and professionalism that lives up to the AAMCO reputation. so here is how they get you. most transmission problems can be diagnosed just from scanning for codes, road test, and checking fluid condition. but they tell you they have to drop the transmission and open up. for 900 bucks they do this. then give you a base price to sell you on a rebuild. but once you fall for this, you are at their mercy as they will hit you with add on charges of up to $3000 extra. no one should spend more than 2000 to rebuild any transmission except of course audi, bmw, or mercedes. average price of trans rebuild at this aamco is 3500 to 4000 bucks. do not let these guys lie to you. for 3500 you can get most transmissions new with 100000 mile warranty online or at parts places. the prices of the parts to rebuild transmission in case you want to know, is about 200 for clutch kit and 100 for torque converter. you are all welcome. read more
