I was told by another mechanic that my transmission was bad. I decided to see what Aamco said. I took it in, and after road testing and diagnostics, they said the transmission was fine. They believed the noises and vibration I was experiencing were actually caused by a bad tire. I took it in to "Just Tires" and they agreed. I have a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country that the check engine light came on back around the beginning of September 2022. Took the vehicle to Autozone to check the code and it came up with a transmission\torque converter code. I took it to a couple of local shops including this AAMCO location. The consensus of all the shops was that the transmission needed to be replaced with a remanufactured unit. I decided to go with AAMCO as they had what seemed to be the best warranty. During the transmission being replaced I was told the lower transmission\motor mount needed to be replaced. Makes sense, I understand they wear, so lets replace it now. Once I got the vehicle back, and drove it for a bit, it seemed very jerky and just did not seem right. We called Joe at AAMCO and he said to bring it back in and he'll look at it. After looking at it he gave me a call and said that the upper motor mount went bad. He said that it was cracked when they replaced the transmission but now it finally went bad. I asked well if it was cracked and about to go bad why didn't you tell me....Joe's response was I don't want to sell you something you don't need. So I asked once again, why didn't you tell me when you were replacing the transmission? He again said I don't want to sell you something you don't need. So I then said to him, I understand that but advising someone of something that is about to go bad is very different then saying you need to replace this now. Let me know and I will make the decision to have it replaced or not, I prefer to know what is going on. So I decide to let them replace the upper motor mount. Once done, I get the vehicle back and bring it home. At this point it does seem a bit better. After a day or two, I notice that there is a leak on my driveway. I'm not sure if it is motor oil or transmission fluid so I call Joe at AAMCO and he said to bring it in. So again I bring it over and they determine it is motor oil and the leak is coming from the oil filter housing, which by the way is right next to the motor mount that was replaced!!!!! So AAMCO says that it was very coincidental that the leak started right after the motor mount that was replaced which is right next to the oil filter housing, sure, of course it is?!?!?!?! Joe at AAMCO certainly agreed there was no leak before they worked on the vehicle as now the transmission housing is covered with pooled oil and was not that way before replacing the transmission. This is now another $1000 plus repair after I've already paid $5000 for the transmission and another $500 plus for the motor mount replacement. Joe at AAMCO tried to make me believe that it was completely illogical to believe that the motor mount replacement and oil leak are related and he was just flat out denying any responsibility. I would have been happy with a yes it is possible and for some money towards repairing the leak. So anyways, instead of giving him more money, I'd prefer to have someone else fix it . AAMCO on Walnut street told me I needed new wheel bearings and it would cost about $700. I asked for a written estimate and I was told they do not give written estimate. I took the car for another estimate and was told there was nothing wrong with my wheel bearings. read more

I was having issues with my car shifting gears, and getting up to speed. I had taken it to the Chevy dealership to have it checked out, fearing it was the transmission. After they took a look, they suggested we do a transmission fluid flush to see if that would solve it, and if not, it was indeed a transmission issue. We did the flush, and to my despair, it didn't work. I took it back in and they confirmed it was a transmission issue. I could either fix it or replace it. Both turning out to be $3,000+. Thankfully, I was advised by a friend to get a second quote by aamco. I gave aamco a call, explaining the issue and that it was a transmission issue. They told me the price could range from $600-$3,000+ depending on what part of the transmission was having the trouble, but to know for sure, they would be happy to look at it, free of charge, to tell me exactly what the issue is, so they can give me an accurate quote. They called back once they had a chance to look at it and said, "Good news, it's not your transmission. It's simply an issue with your catalytic converter, should be a simple fix."! I was fully expecting it to be my transmission, so I was preparing to spend $3,000 to fix it. But instead of taking advantage of me, they were honest and told me the best (and cheapest) way to fix my car. Thanks to Aamco, I saved thousands of dollars and my car is running as smooth as ever. I wanted to hang a banner to warn people of this shop. When I suspected my Accord's transmission broke down, I visited them. Justin, the manager I guess, told me it needed a rebuild, but refused to give me a written quote. He would give me a quote only if I agreed to let them do it. Weird, isn't it? I slept on it over the weekend, and brought my Accord to another shop on the next Monday morning. The mechanic checked diagnosis signals and said it could be a small problem. In that afternoon, they called me to test if it had been fixed. Instead of $2400, they asked for basically nothing. I was outrageous about the way AAMCO treated me. They either know very little about transmissions, or have no ethical boundary. read more

I had a great customer service experience with AAMCO Transmissions. I took my car in to have a an alternator replaced. The work was completed in a few hours and the car ran great. The next evening mu to my dismay the car shut off on the way home. the car shut off 5 miles from my house. I gave the manager a call he gave me a call right back late that night and ask me to bring the vehicle in and so it could be evaluated at his Cary Location. Once I brought it in he determined that I got the rare defective part and proceeded to fix it right away, even with a bay full of cars. On top of that he even replaced my battery at no charge.
