I purchased a 2012 Toyota RAV4 for my daughter, and wanted it to be serviced. I paid for a transmission service that included fluid exchange on 2/27/2023 (pic attached). It had 109,931 miles. Today 6/24/2023 at 111,321 I had everything checked out at Valvoline just to find it was never flushed! Plus it was about 1 - 2 quarts over (pictured)! I got ripped! I personally watched Valvoline suck the old fluid out that clearly showed black old fluid (pictured attached).. I'm so disappointed! Pictured is what the transmission fluid looks like and the pink is what it should look like with less than 1,400 miles. My daughter just got her license a week ago. Since then it sat in the driveway hardly driven for 3 months! Pictured is the tube as the fluid is being sucked out, it's clearly black-less than 1400 miles! Aamco is refusing to do refund. Lawsuit filed. We'll settle this in court. The evidence is clear. Anyone who knows anything about cars know the transmission fluid stay pinkish-red for over 80,000 miles!! read more

These guys are very expensive, if you have money to burn this is the place to go. I have a 2006 Kia Spectra I had them replace a backup light switch. They did a good job work wise, but they took me for a ride on the price. They charge a 74.99 fee for inspection which they are supposed to wave if you let them fix your car. I could get the backup light switch for 32.99 at any auto parts store, charged me 85.55 for the part. I asked the guy there why the part cost so much and he told me that was because 12 month, 12 thousand mile warranty. So, the warranty costs more than the part being replaced. That's over 50 dollars for a warranty for a part that costs 32.99. I'll try anybody once, I myself will not be back. read more

Beware of BAIT AND SWITCH. I called last week and was quoted a price to overhaul the transmission in my 2012 Suburban. I'm not a transmission specialist but I do most of my own automotive maintenance and taught high school auto mechanics for a dozen years, so neither am I ignorant. It's also not the first transmission I've had rebuilt in this area. And I own two Suburbans. On the phone I was quoted a price, "under $3,000 not including taxes," which was considerably better than other more local shops I had talked to. I confirmed this price mulitiple times on the phone, and was assured that would be "worst case scenario" if indeed it needed rebuilt (which I already knew it did). Never did he ask which transmission my truck has, but I didn't think twice about that since I knew the 6L80 is the only transmission installed in 2012 1500 Suburbans and every other shop I've talked to knew that as well. So I drive up to Chattanooga to drop it off, and just for good measure I asked to confirm that $3,000 plus taxes is the worst case scenario and Troy immediately says that it depends on which transmission I have, that's the price for the 4 speed. I'm like, no, it has a six speed. He doubted me, and said he had to check the VIN number to confirm. I knew there were no 4-speeds installed in 2012 Suburbans but had a moment of self-doubt (I mean, this guy must know his transmissions, right?) so I didn't push back. So he "looked up the VIN" and said sure enough, it's a six speed, and it would be more like $4,500 plus taxes. I'm like great, why did I bring it up here from north Georgia and arrange rides and all that. I decided to let them do the diagnostics anyway. I left and looked it up and as I remembered, 6L80 is the only transmission in Suburbans 2010 and after. I mean, it's possible that they just don't know their stuff, but this is not exactly an unusual vehicle, nor an unusual transmission being in tons of GM/Caddilac/Chevrolet cars and trucks since 2006 and every other shop immediately told me the 2012 Suburban has the 6L80 and quoted me a price for that. The only question was 4WD or 2WD since those have different tail cones. I don't like to assume the worst, and rarely write a bad review, but frankly it's hard to believe this is not a dishonest bait and switch. If AAMCO sales reps really are that ignorant, and think there was a 4-speed offered in 2012 1500 Suburbans, they would have asked that on the phone before promising that a little less than $3,000 plus taxes to be the "worst case scenario," and not wait until I'm in their shop before thinking of that. Additionally, once confirming that it needed rebuilt they asked for 50% down to hold a spot a 2-3 weeks out, which leads me to assume they're not rebuilding even this ubiquitous transmission, but are simply buying a reman and swapping it. I can do that. Oh, and the $83.99 plus taxes diagnostic fee came to $99.10. I asked what the tax rate is and he said 9.25%. I'm no math whiz but even I know that $83.99 plus 9.25% doesn't come to $99.10. Even with my question, Troy didn't bother to explain that they add $6.72 "shop supplies" to their diagnostic fee. Shop supplies for what? A paper towel to wipe the dipstick? I paid $99.10 for them to tell me what I already know, but it was well-spent because I learned I didn't want them touching my truck. Personally I'd rather pay more elsewhere than leave my vehicle at a shop I don't feel I can trust from the get-go. AAMCO Chattanooga should learn from the many mom and pop transmission shops in the area and 1) know their stuff, 2) give an honest quote up front (for both their potential work and their diagnostic fee). read more

Anytime any of my vehicles have an issue from strange noice, engine light on to my car no longer starts. I choose AAMCO. Scott Fagan and Thomas Pettway are awesome. Always on top of their game and willing to work me in even when busy. Can't recommend them enough. If your car has issues bring it here for good honest professional work. read more

I went to this place because I needed an oil change quickly and didn't have a lot of cash. I found a Groupon for $25 (much less than the $79 I usually pay at Valvoline) and I was so impressed! These guys are quick, professional and courteous. They offered my kids a drink on a 90 degree summer day and it was much appreciated. I shoppe around, even had my car towed to another repair place but decided to go with Aamco, so glad I did.Very professional, very friendly and I know they actually appreciated my business. My daughter had her transmission rebuilt at Aamco in June of 2018 cost was $4600.00 and a 18 month warranty took about 10 days. About 3 months later goes out again took about the same time to repair. January 24th goes out yet again. She called a wrecker to take to back to Aamco called Aamco left a message this was a Thursday, they did not return her call for 4 business days she had to call them!.They fed her a line of BS said their scanner was not reading her car. 10 days later I got involved,her father, I called the line of BS they gave me was it took 2 weeks to get a download to update their scanner, that is a lie! I called another Transmisson shop they get theirs overnight and the scanner is ready to go next day..I asked for a rental,they said they would get back in touch with me,guess what I had to call them back. They said the best they could do was get me a discount and MAYBE do something after the repair..I'm not dumb and didn't fall for it..after 3 + weeks they told me that the scanner said the Transmission was bad well no kidding! It was excuse after excuse lie after lie.. It took 4 weeks to get the car fixed! Go to the Home Office web site and read all of the complaints from all over the United States...A bad place to do any business call someone else instead.. read more

They will never get another dollar of mine! Used second rate parts that lasted about a month longer than the warranty, then wouldn't stand behind their work. The clutch they put in "exploded" and they said it was due to my extraordinary driving, yet my first clutch lasted 10 years versus the 13 month version they put in.
