I went to Mr. Kim Quackenbush; whose last name doesn't exist or found on the invoices, I got his last name from another angry customer. Kelly B. No surprisingly; I am not the only one who found this place and man terrible to do business with. Brought truck to fix a 4X4 issue related with low AWD problem. I got treated horribly by this man. Finally have time to talk to my attorney this morning and noticed he was in violation of different things according to consumer reports fraud; who we will later address with them directly. Number one: I went there for an estimate for my AWD low 4x4 system as stated. I asked him if I could leave car there, he said yes. Then I decided to give him the oil change as well to perform on my truck. "So I said what that heck". Small business; in Dover, figured I want to support him. I told Mr. Kim Quackenbush; a day after on the phone: I wouldn't fix the 4x4 issue on the car with him; as I wanted to wait to get other estimates. When I picked up the car he aggressively asked to pay for an estimate on the low 4x 4 issue. Without previously disclosing it in writting. I never agreed to paid for. Talked to my attorney; finally today and she sent me and read consumer reports fraud protection act, and found he can't do that!. He was in total violation. And of course told him I wouldn't pay for that. He yelled and said I am supposed to be matured enough to know that he was charging for an estimate. I told him I would call Law enforcement and he immediately gave my truck's keys....wooow...What a way to treat customers. No happy with that, he realized I was taking his business card; and yelled at me ordering me to put card back in the box. Treated me like a low ife thief, or beggar. Claiming he paid for those cards and he decides who takes one or doesn't. 2- He called me a dog!, as I was trying to explain he should be more upfront with his customers. He said I barked like a little dog, and found that an extremely offensive remark, as I have never been treated like that. I gave him the oil change in good faith to build a relationship with the man's business. Where in hell a paid customer is called a dog? And who this guy think he is?.. I will take this to the Better Business b. 3- I brought my truck with " rim covers or cap tires for my ford pick up" were def on my truck who were gone , when I took the car. I asked him if I can picked up the missing items, and when I went there he said, they weren't on my pick up truck, and I just walked out of there disgust and surprised' And not wanting to argue with him, since Mr. Quackenbush is a very nasty and angry man to deal with. I am so pleased with the service I have received from Mr. Quackenbush and his technicians. They have rebuilt my transmission and differential case and honored my extended warranty so my cost outlay was minimum. The work was outstanding as my 2007 Buick Lucerne drives like a new car. This review is way long overdue. . . I've been bringing my car to this location since 2010 and have never had any issues with the owner, nor with any of his employees. I am extremely surprised at some of the negative reviews on here. They're almost hard to believe. The owner is a true epitome of integrity. A while back I took my car in for new tires, thinking they needed to be changed. I later received a phone call from the owner informing me that my tires are actually in pretty good shape and that it would be unnecessary to spend money on getting new ones. IF THAT'S NOT HONESTY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. He could have taken advantage of the situation and easily make a sale, but his good reputation is more important to him than making an easy buck. My experience here was great! From the moment I walked in, I was treated to excellent customer service. I received a timeframe to receive a preliminary quote which was delivered on time. When my car was taken apart, it turned out that the damage was more extensive than it appeared from the outside. I received a call from Kim immediately with the diagnosis and a final price quote. My 10 year old Toyota Hylander with 230,000 finally had it's first serious issue. My local guy said it was more complicated then he could provide. He set me up with Kim at AAMCO. He arranged to have the Toyota to be towed from Chester to Dover (as car wasn't drivable). Kim kept me updated along the way with issues, cost and other suggestions to have the car go another 100,000. The whole process was great and Kim is the nicest mechanic and didn't talk down to me. Absolutely terrible experience. They had my transmission out twice, didn't bolt in the (brand new)u-joints, so the drive shaft fell off on the test drive. They charged me over $2000.00 including new u-joints and the vehicle tow because of the u-joints. There was wiring that needed to be done and they said it was all done-- I found the wires run into the dash and connected to: nothing, just hanging loose. On every trip there when I went to pick up the car, they told me, "All good, runs great!," but it still had the same problem as when I brought it in. They never diagnosed the real problem. Subsequently, a garage mechanic I know found a $24 part that was bad and fixed the transmission in two days. Aamco in Dover did absolutely nothing for me, had my car for weeks and weeks, and charged me over $2000. Do NOT use this place. read more

Bad service, brought my truck in for a slight transmission problem. They kept my truck for almost a week, gave me different prices to have the entire transmission fixed ranging between $3100-3600. The owner Kim Quackenbush appeared to be friendly, he called me with a detailed list of everthing that needed to be fixed, but after talking with a few professionals realized I was getting ripped off big time. After telling them I did not want to use their services they charged me 650.00 to get my vehicle back (was NEVER told it would be this much for them to look at the truck.) But the worst part was they returned my truck in HORRIBLE condition, it barely made it to the next shop where I had it professionally fixed my a real transmission mechanic. They put the transmission back poorly, leaving off oxygen sensor caps, wires etc. I had the entire Transmission re-built with a 3 year warrenty for under 2,000. DO NOT go to this AAMCO, or any other AAMCO. After talking with serveral friends and family I have learned that they often scam, rip off, and do not know how to professionally fix things properly. If I would have known this instead of just going there because it was a local tranmission place, I would have saved myself a lot of time, aggrevation, and money. Poor service by unskilled mechanics who work for this chain because they are not qualified to work for a good auto repair place. STAY AWAY!!!!!!! read more

From the moment I called, this place provided me with exceptional service. My car's "park" and "reverse" functions failed, so I called the first place that popped up. Kim answered and explained the possible causes, and even offered me a tow service to get me to his lot. I was able to get there and he explained that after the diagnostic, depending on the issue, it could be a longer wait time and not to worry that they will call as soon as they're done. He was descriptive and sensitive to my needs. Once the car was done, he stopped was he was doing to explain everything they suggest I get done to the car and let me know that a proactive approach would help me avoid bigger costs later. He emailed me an estimate and is helping me little by little to fix everything on my car. I felt he genuinely cared about me and my car's problems as well as my safety. We took our car there because the transmission "blew up". Kim was not only very courteous, he worked with us to make payments on the service. The repairs were made to the manufacturer's specifications. It seems as though we have a brand new car! I had a HORRIBLE experience at AAMCO in Dover NJ. I called AAMCO to get a quote to have a full tune up, coil pack and my window (it was not rolling up) fixed. I was quoted approximately $600 for the tune up and coil pack (which now I know was HIGH to begin with) -- and was told I would get a quote on the window. I made it EXTREMELY clear that I only had a certain number of funds available and that I would need to be called for EVERY extra expense and that I was not authorizing anything beyond $600. After dropping off my car within 4-6 hours I received a call that it was done. I was told it would be $600 for the TUNE UP ONLY! and that the coil pack was ANOTHER $200 and the window was DONE and costs even more!! Totaling NEAR $1000!!! Needless to say I freaked out, I did not authorize ANY of this and definitely did not have $1000. The manager was completely rude and tried to say he quoted over $600 to begin with (which I would have NEVER agreed to since I never had that amount of money in my bank account) - He was a complete liar -- he acted like a middle-schooler and went as far as name calling over the phone. I demanded the coil pack be removed and original parts replaced and ALL tune up components be removed. I demanded the window be put back in the condition it was in to begin with. The manager threatened to break the window and said he had thrown away my original parts! So, my fiance went to confront him. My fiance also called the police at this time. The manager agreed (with police presence) to return all of our money and replace the original parts (funny, they were not in the garbage) -- it was a nightmare, a waste of time and ridiculous. I have never been so dissatisfied with a service in my life. I am a reasonable person, I never start problems. But, when a person threatens to break your car and you are tight on money and expect a call -- it is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. Please save yourself the trouble, NEVER GO HERE -- research prices before hand. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL.I never even write reviews! AAMCO emailed me and asked me to do a review....
