I called this morning and spoke to Carlton (Really nice guy), I asked him how much would it cost to replace a transmission. He immediately asked me what was going on without throwing pricing. He asked me to bring it down and they would check it out at no cost with a test drive and scanning the vehicle. He said it only takes about 15 mins. I was early to my 2:30 appointment, Mike came out and did a test drive including running code test. So far so good, I will have to bring it back for an official diagnosis and I'm fine with it. my experience with this company, didnt turn out so good i ended up spending more money than i had to towards car rentals, because they had my car for 3 months going into 4 months. my transmission went out on my 2019 escalade, to do a rebuild carlton quoted me at $7,200 to start the job i had to make a payment of $3,500 and he told me the job was gonna take 6-10 business days about. my car ended up being their for 3 months going into 4 months. this whole time ive been renting cars that costed me well over $3,000 dollars. so these last 3 weeks i speak with the owner and he tells me from the day i spoke with him he would pay for a rental until my car is ready, which they call today and say its ready for pick up { Thursday 9/3/26 } when i dropped it off on { 5/29/26 } so its a balance of $3,700 my last rental was $1,297.47 which the owner mike said he would pay for so he took off $700 leaving me to pay $3,000 which i had no problem paying. but i was really only suppose to pay $2,600 cause i told him for the rental just credit me $1,100 and he refused to cover that after he told me he would. my mistake in this situation when doing business is to always put it in paper cause a man word means nothing, i took his word cause he was the owner {Mike} my words to Mike, always be a man of your word even if it cost you a few dollars... its not about money its about morals, principal, respect and keeping your word as a man and a business owner. carlton was always respectful, seem like a cool gouy and Mike also but when you dont honor your word that takes from everything. now hopefully my car dont have any issues after a fwe weeks ill give a update... cause of Mike dishonesty they have lost me as a customer...hope the next person dont have to experience what i had to experience, make sure you document and put everything on paper. read more

Worked with Mike and Richard directly to get my transmission fixed the communication and honesty was not unnoticed! Transmissions aren't cheap, and it hurt a bit, but they charged a significant amount less than any other options I had. And my Tahoe is now driving better than it did when I drove it off the lot! I would recommend this AAMCO to any and everyone. This crew is the best I've ever been too. They know they are doing and talk to you through out the inspection,and they never tell you to fix what doesn't need fixing. When I first went there probably 6 years ago I felt so comfortable and when I thought I couldn't afford it Richard told me about a credit application I can go through it was great it gave me a year to pay for it with no interest. My car had some transmission problems and I had a hard time finding a local mechanic who could even repair the CVT type that my car came with. I've heard the radio ads for years and years about how most problems can only need a repair rather than a replacement, so I thought I'd try this place. They were nice on the phone and nice in person, but all they did was take my car for a drive and then, told me that they couldn't just do a repair on it, but that the entire transmission would have to be replaced and it would cost somewhere around $4000! Well, my car is 12 years old and probably not even worth $4000 even IF the transmission was fine, so I decided to not have the work done. The owner of the franchise is really the salesman and when I opted to not have the work done, he got excited and even tried to pressure me into having them do the repair...but I didn't give in to his pressure, and I'm really glad I didn't. One week later, I was telling a friend about the car problem, and he told me that he had a friend who was a mobile mechanic and that maybe his friend could give me some advice about what to do. I called the mechanic and he told me that he had seen this same problem many times before, and suggested that perhaps the transmission fluid needed to be changed, and the filter cleaned. A few days later, the mechanic showed up at my house and drained the old fluid, cleaned the filter and refilled with all new fluid. This took him literally 25 minutes....I heard my car start up in the driveway when he was done, and he backed out (My car would barely shift into reverse, and then barely drove before this repair)...he drove off and took a spin around the block and then back into my driveway. He handed me the keys, asked for $125 plus $78 for the fluid, and the deal was complete. This all happened a few weeks ago, and now my car drives as well as it did when it was new, with no problems whatsoever....I even drove it to Las Vegas and back from Lakewood last weekend! Imagine if I had caved into the pressure from the owner of this AAMCO shop and ended up paying $4000 for a complete transmission when all it really needed was a fluid change? Save yourself time, aggravation and VERY EXPENSIVE unnecessary repairs and take your car for a fluid change first before you let someone tell you that the ONLY way to fix the transmission problem is to have an entire new transmission installed. read more

Negative !!! Negative !!!! Negative !!! Took my 2003 Mercedes Benz C240, with transmission shifting problems, for free check up, later changed to $ 150.00 very dishonest. Charge $ 2,200.00 to repair. My vehicle continued having same shifting problems, after several times of taking it back and now that their warranty expired they want another $ 4,500.00 to correctly repair it. To make it worse, and after a complaint with AAMCO customer service their response was that " The AAMCO center in Long Beach, CA. 90805. is independently owned and operated. Therefore there is no higher authority than the owner. SHAMMED !!! DISHONEST !!! SHADY !!! I wonder how they continue doing business in city of Long Beach, affecting our communities with such bad customer service. read more

Did not hear about the bad reputation until it was too late for me. Took my car in for a transmission problem & was told by the owner that the inspection was for free. I was told later that it would cost $3800 to correct the problem. They told me they would waive the diagnosis charge of $250 if I had my repair done with them. I wanted to have a second estimate by another garage & they agreed to reduce the charge to $150, still hoping that the repair work would be done with them. I got another estimate & it was for $2000. I went to Aamco based on the website reviews and now I have strong reservations & suspicion about those so called ` 5 star reviews". The free inspection claim is misleading as they only released the car back to me after paying the $150 with no repair work being done. So consumer , don't place too much emphasis on those reviews & made the same mistake that I made. read more

I came here to have the check engine light diagnosed. The manager came out and plugged in the diagnostic device and told me I had some type of fuel leak which might be caused by air in the gas tank cap. He reset the light and told me to have it looked at if it came on again. A week later the light is still off and the car is running fine. No charge. Thank you for the great service. read more

Mike saved my life. My other mechanic said that I had a minor transmission leak and I could drive on it for at least 6 months and be fine. I knew that was not accurate so I took it over to Mike and come to find out that not only did it have several leaks but the pressure was bad and all kinds of things were wrong. I basically needed a new transmission. CRAP! I couldn't afford a new transmission and Mike and Carlton went over some different options. I went with the first option and I have to say that Mike was honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, and courteous. Not only that he totally worked with me and my situation. They fixed my transmission and pointed out some other issues that I have to take back to my other mechanic that need to be fixed because they are under warranty. And to top it all off, they are TOTALLY concerned about their customer sanctification. They were honest, through, and well I just can't say enough. When I went to pick up my car they waited to show me what they did, gave me a detailed invoice, and because I got their late stayed past the time they closed to give me some information regarding the rules and requirements of mechanics for when I go back to my other mechanic. If i could give this place negative 5 stars I would. I went there a couple weeks ago to fix my transmission they told me the computers in my car needed to be replaced so I did with a six month warranty. About three months in the problem started to occur again, so I took my vehicle back. Upon my return they told me the original problem was fixed but now there were additional problems that would cost me an additional $2200 to fix and granted I had already given them $1500 the first visit! After looking at the paperwork I noticed the codes were exactly the same as the time before, so I instructed them to leave my car alone and I would take it somewhere else. Once the "manager" heard me say this he started dropping the price of the repair. Which I thought was a little strange. I told him no again and called the dealership just to see if any of what they told me was wrong was legit. The dealership would fix this so called "problem" for $1200!!!!!! The dealership would have been cheaper than this place! Just ridiculous! I ended up going to a local mechanic and it turns out the entire problem was because on my original visit the mechanics did not reset the computers in my car causing a ton of issues and the mechanic was intentionally pulling the reader out early so the error messages would occur! The local mechanic reset my computer and replaced an o2 clip for $300. This place is a complete rip off!!! I will NEVER go to this or any location of this company. Absolutely absurd they are still in business. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

Horrible experience! Long story short, even after over $4,000 in transmission work, the car was having the same problem as before they worked on it. Bottom line.... there was nothing wrong with my transmission to begin with. One of the times that they had my car (for 3 weeks) to trouble shoot what the actual issue was, they finally gave it back to me (without resolving anything) and the transmission was not bolted down. Just sitting there loose. I drove my car from Aamco straight to another mechanic and it was him that discovered that the transmission was not bolted down. The mechanice called Aamco and Aamco would not take any responsibility. Saying that someone else left the bolts off. Huh? I just picked the car up from them minutes before! Just awful. read more

this place is by far the worst shop I have ever been too. I took my car to this shop at least on 4 different occasions and never did my car start running the right way. The workers kept insisting that they knew what the problem was each and everytime. HAHA they had no idea what they were doing. I paid them $3,000 and ended up trading my car in completely. Lessoned learned never again will aamco be a choice for me when it comes to car care... this place is completely a joke. Then when I told them they didn't have to work on my car anymore because I got rid of it. They offered to give my new car some work on the transmission when the time came. I wish there had been reviews available when I got work done here previously. They rebuilt my transmission 3 years ago. I had taken my car to the dealer for some minor issues and because the check engine light was on. The dealer quoted me $5,200 to replace transmission with a remanufactured one. Instead, I opted to take it to AAMCO because it would be cheaper. The guys were very nice and courteous, but they had my car for over a month and were having trouble with determining all the issues - I suppose I should have known at that point that these guys don't really know what they're doing. I just took my car into the dealer and was told that the transmission is about to go and needs to be repaired/replaced ASAP. Considering AAMCO repaired it only 3 years and 50k miles ago at a cost of over $4,000, I'm not happy that I'm going to have to drop another four grand to repair it again. Suffice it to say, I will NOT be returning to AAMCO. I was told over the phone that they would "work with me" on pricing since I've been there before. But why throw good money after bad? I have no idea how other AAMCO locations compare, but I can say with certainty - save your money and DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! read more
