Went there to have my Honda Element transmission checked and after a day they said it had to be rebuilt and quoted me $3,300. A friend told me to take it to Father & Son in Hialeah to confirm AAMCO findings. They told me just need service and had an electrical issue to take it to J & L electrical. I should have left when I walked up and watched an apathetic shop "manager" dispassionately listen to a woman voice her concern about his failure to deliver her vehicle on the date promised. Victor, the "manager" is the fulfillment of every stereotype you fear when dealing with mechanics. "Shade tree" at best. Apathetic. Difficult to reach. Dishonest. To reiterate - Dishonest. I went to AAMCO because it was a nationally recognized name. This shop has completely erased the possibility of me considering them anywhere. My personal mechanic told me not to buy my truck because of the high miles and predicted a soon-to-be-expected rebuilt transmission which could cost thousands of dollars. So what do you think I did? I fell in love with the truck and bought it anyways. So two years down the road and close to 200,000 miles later, I did follow my mechanic's suggestion that I drive it to AAMCO Transmission to get an estimate. Three weeks later (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5), and many days of frustration and anxiety, I drove it out feeling like I had a new truck. I waited two weeks to write this review while I drove it hard for 1,200 miles. It still runs like a brand new truck! The frustration and anxiety was in the communication, through no fault of the service manager, Victor Ramos: More and more repairs were necessary and each time the phone rang and I saw it was him, my stomach would turn. However, he would communicate with detailed photos emailed to me of finding broken parts and necessary repair discoveries which were honest and verified by my personal mechanic who would reply "I told you so" each time I double checked Victor's diagnosis. This resulted in a longer time period of living without my beloved old truck. Bottom line, my Ford F150 got a rebuilt transmission, an oil change with new nonleaking oil pan, new spark plugs in all 8 cylinders using the special tool required to remove the old ones, a new timing chain kit which had a part break off inside the oil pan (I have pics from Victor to prove it), and a reduced price in the labor costs. They also offered a loan with great terms to help pay for this. The whole cost was under $3,500 which I consider a bargain when I now drive my truck. Their work is under warranty for a year. I cannot tell you how nervous I got when my daughter brought up the previous negative yelp reviews. I hope this one will be considered to offset the bad reviews. I am totally happy with my truck now. Stay away from these people. My brother took his car in because his transmission wasn't working. Victor the manager is a dishonest human being. Fast forward THE DAY AFTER my car was returned and $4,000 later I'm left with a malfuncting car that does not want to turn on. In addition, they broke the handle that opens the hood. And his check engine light turned on back on. After confronting dishonest Victor his answer was that he was not responsible for the damages and turned it around on him. Being super rude. He didn't even bother to look at his car! he only acknowledged the handle and said that it was broken when He brought the car initially. Took Dodge pickup to Victor and was told the cost for a new rebuild transmission would be $3,800. Told them to go ahead as we needed to get home and needed truck to do it. After getting home and with only 2,000 miles on rebuild transmission quit working again. After calling several times to the national Aamaco help line (messages is all you can do their are no live people their I guess) I was told to take it to Old Troy Pike, Dayton, Ohio. After 6 weeks and numerous calls finally received truck back with a boat load of excuses and no paperwork. Now 2,000 miles later transmission is out and the excuse train as started up again. This place is terrible. I took my car and my transmission was fixed for 2,400 and even after my transmission was still acting up. I brought my car back about four times and they kept telling me that it was not the transmission, I guess so I could lose my warranty with them. Until finally I insisted and they took my car back, they took about a month to fix everything always being dismissive when I called asking about how long it was going to take. After the car was done they said the previous warranty date still held and my warranty was not extended which I guess is understandable but now my car is not turning on again. There's a new manager who is extremely rude and should not be in that position if he is going to act that way towards customers and on top of it deliver horrible quality service. I do not recommend this place to anyone!! Please save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I had pep boys tell me I had a leak in the main seal of my transmission which I thought was weird since my oil was not low at all but I took it here since pep boys doesn't work on transmissions. Finally an honest person he found nothing wrong with my car and could have easily scammed me and took my money. I will be going here from now on. read more

Made an account just to post this. Sent my car there and didn't hear from them for a couple days. Finally called, they tell me the transmission probably needs to be rebuilt. I've got a pretty old car and it wasn't going to be worth the money, and I said so. The guy said he'd look around for a used transmission for me and also see if he knew ne1 to buy the car. About a week goes by, I call back and he still has nothing to tell me but that he'll call me back. This drags on for weeks (I was out of town most of the time, so I wasn't really hassling them about it) before they tell me anything. I have to consistently call before getting answers. Finally, I decide I'm going to sell the car independently so I get it towed back. When it gets here, the driver's side window is down and the car is dead. When I call, the owner tells me "Yeah, you gotta jump it." The window was not down when I sent it. So now I've got a dead car in my driveway with a window that won't go up. Great Service. Took my car in to get a repair and was taken care of with great attentiveness. Victor Ramos the rep who helped me with my small repair was very courteous and respectful, he was great with his communication skills and kept me updated through out the whole process and got me back on the road and on my way in a minimum amount of time. Do you think the Aamco name protects you from being ripped off? Do you think they screen their people? Not in my case. I took my car in to the Aamco shop in Miami with a burning smell and noise coming from under the car. I told them I did not think it was the transmission because the transmission temp gauge was normal and the fluid was clear and red. I told them I thought it was the rear end. They said no it was the transmission and charged me $3000 to fix it. 100 miles later I was back on the side of the road. I found a shop that knew what they were doing and they said in fact it was the rear end. I asked for a refund for the transmission repair and guess what I was told--"well we did fix your car and it just broke down 100 miles later with the same exact symptoms. Tried to do business with this location spoke with Victor on the phone he placed me on hold for a bout five minutes then once he got me back on the phone he placed me on hold again then he hung up and I had to call back trying to get a price on a transmission then he got really rude said that it could be 1000 different things and that I will be calling six other places and getting six different prices I explained to him that I own a business down the street and I am interested in doing business with his location he still was very rude so I decided to hang up and not even attempt to do business with that location He also mentioned that he was super busy so I guess I'm taking my business somewhere else!!!!! read more

This place is horrible. They gave me my car back with an oil leak. The alignment was off. The car now sounds like a horrible race car, they have the nerve to tell me that my muffler is rusted. The transmission was the reason why I trusted them with my car and they couldn't even get that right, the transmission was not even working right. On top of all these problems they have really bad customer service. So now I have to pay more money to get it fixed correctly by another mechanic. This company is not reliable and un-trust worthy. Terrible with falsehoods from the beginning. Truck was dropped off Friday night with the promise of 2 day turnaround. No quote was available but I had gotten one from another AAMCO and thought I had a general idea. Victor also said he honored AAA discounts, said not true when bill was presented. Bill states they will charge $450 to R&R tranny with disassembly and examination if they don't do the rebuild. After paying $855 for rebuild, I was charged over $700 labor for the R&R. Finally after multiple calls back, (I was not getting updates/calls as Victor said he would do) two days turned into FIVE. They re-used a damaged dipstick by just shoving it down the filler tube, not sealed or in proper place to check levels. I was told: "If they saw it necessary to replace it, they would have. He also said if you have an issue with it, they would be more than glad to address the concern." I live over 60 miles away! I tried reaching out to the owner through an email I found on here and heard nothing. Corporate was no better. I finally got a phone call at 1 pm on day five, Friday afternoon, saying my truck was ready for pickup. After paying over $3k (after the $100 coupon I printed from online) I finally got my truck back. After all this, the closest thing I got for an apology was a "sorry for the inconvenience" from Victor. No mention of a price cut for the lies, not giving AAA discount as promised or the 3 extra days they kept my truck and I had to figure out how to get it on short notice. We all know what Friday afternoon traffic is like in Miami. Now am only glad to be away from them and for the written national warranty and my paper trail of all my problems/concerns during this process. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Without a doubt... the best, most honest , automobile repair service, that I have experienced in twelve years of living in Miami. Victor is always helpful and looks out for you when it comes to repair cost. My last repair was minor and Victor didn't charge me. I live in Miami Beach and will ALWAYS travel to AAMCO...because it is worth it. They will tell you the truth and fix what needs to be fixed. Victor has helped me with some difficult car issues.
