I bought a new battery and my OBD2 scanner trouble code that were pulled up were the same on his diagnostic machine but James recommended to replace my transmission so he had my dad put a down of $1,500.00 for the unit. The EXCHANGED PRE - OWNED transmission arrived on the May 12,2026 and sublet to Hanlees Fairfield Nissan he requested to reprogram TCM on May 14,2026 but failed to complete. on May 15,2026 James R Villamante released an unsafe vehicle to both my mom and dad. Danny Martinez should get his technician license taken since i gave him the keys when I dropped the vehicle at AAMCO. On June 23,2026 I got my car towed from AAMCO to Hanlees Fairfield Nissan to check and advise to perform a diagnosis on the vehicles charging system Hanlees Nissan did not complete repairs and diagnostic I got it towed back home and when charging the battery and checking the disputed alternator that AAMCO Owner James son Julian advised me to remove and replace my alternator and on June 25 I found the plug to the alternator was unplugged.. Specialize in transmissions? Or is it more like unnecessarily replace them? Why did AAMCO charge $175 for a misdiagnosis? Again, do you or do you not claim to specialize? I was quoted $4500 to replace my so called shot transmission. I got another opinion from an actual mechanic and he completely fixed the issue for $300. Had you dropped the pan you would have discovered no metal shavings and a filter that needed replacing. And if you had done that, would you have told me it was only a filter replacement instead of the entire tranny? When I stopped by looking to be refunded my $175, I was told that the gentleman who dealt with would get ahold of me. Unfortunately, no return phone call. I didn't expect to be refunded but I did expect common professional courtesy along with an acknowledgment in accountability. From everything I have read and heard, AAMCO Vallejo is pretty consistent with this sort of customer service. I'm sure this review will be responded to with "We did our due diligence in diagnosing your transmission issues and everything indicated that a replacement was the proper course of action." Sure. But we both know better. The AAMCO corporate office along with the BBB will be notified of this matter. THIS WAS THE REVIEW I LEFT ON GOOGLE. As expected I received a response to it the review saying I declined to have my pan dropped due to not wanting to pay for it. I was also told that changing the fluids will temporarily disguise the underlying issue. So what is it? You never offered the dropping of the pan option so please quit lying. I went by your shop, left my number and was told you would call. After 2 days with no response, what would you expect me to do? At least Toyota admitted they effed up and gave me my money back. Aamco Vallejo really saved the day. My Cadillac Escalade suddenly had problems with the transmission so I ended up having to go to Aamco to find out what the problem was they diagnosed the issue and because of the costs a replacement was recommended. I did my homework and it turns out that their estimate was the average. I am going to say that the cost was extremely high. What I'm going to recommend everybody do is if you don't have the room on a credit card go to Credit Karma get a personal loan and have that lined up before it's time to pick up your vehicle do not go through the finance companies that are in-house their predatory they'll approve you but won't tell you the rate until you're signing ( 130 percent interest ) . The manager James took it upon himself to check my truck and discovered that I had a rear main seal leak and proactively took care of it this saved me over $1,000 easily. This extra step really helped me a lot and it really made this shop shine in my opinion. I highly recommend Amco Vallejo for the quality of their work and how they take care of you as a customer. Apparently they also don't have insurance or they would have turned it over to them. So in a nutshell they have petitioned the court to make payments for a YEAR. Total time from when my car went in, to when I may be able to drive my car due to their negligence will be almost 2 years! Legitimate businesses carry insurance so when they destroy a customers vehicle they can make it right. Not Aamco Vallejo. Not only did they not fix the issue ( check engine light on), but when I picked up my car my fog light and the glass were missing. The car parked to the left of mine was missing the same light too. Mike lied over the phone and to my face saying the issue had been fixed (misaligned coils) , and the check light is off. Why call me to pick up my car If nothing was done?He also included that labor was put in extensive from the time charged. on my receipt service description says," Labor: no repair is done at this time". Not what he showed me on their copy of what I signed. There was a code p301, my copy doesn't have any code on there. I brought these issues up to Mike and he said come back tomorrow. The run around. Simply put, don't go here. After bringing my car here twice to get a leak in my transmission fixed they essentially refused to fix a part that was under warranty. They did this by diagnosing another problem and calling me twice to try to authorize a $600 repair on a part that was not the source of the leak and that was not leaking. I know this because I had a family friend and professional mechanic look over the car and he didn't find the problem they found. I spoke to the manager and he helped me out as best he could but ultimately he must not have found my story very moving as he was content to trust the work of his mechanics. OMG!! I went to AAMCO since I recently moved to Vallejo and didn't know where else to go to get my brakes repaired due to shaking when I braked. I asked for my rotors to be turned and brake pads replaced. They called me back to tell me the brakes were fine and it was another problem. I got the car back and the shaking wasn't fixed. They said they would turn the rotors and replace the brake pads which resolved the problem. I still had to pay for both services ($550). I just filed a Small Claims case against them. Brought my 12 years old Toyota Avalon for several tricky issues including noises from many places, unstable engine condition, a couple of leaks and the engine check right on intermittently. Earlier, I got quotes a couple times from the Toyota dealerships and they asked a huge amount of $$$$ for fixing them all. A friend of mine told that Aamco in Vallejo is pretty good for general auto problems so that I decided to try. In just a day, they did really excellent job to fix all issues my car was suffering. Took my car in thave the transmission serviced. I explained to Kay Keller, the owner, why I was there. She stated that they could looK at it but then proceeded to answer the phone and talk to the person on the other end for 10 minutes. After that, she told me that she was really working with someone else before I walked in so she would now finish with hIm. I told her that was fine bc I wouldn't want her to be rude. I waited another 15 minutes at which time Kay said she needed the vin number. I told her that I looked yesterday but didn't see it. I asked if one of her guys could take a looK bc I honestly didn't see it and it was storming outside. Kay informed me that the guys are working on cars and she's wasnt going to stop them to get the vin #. I told her that I'm sure I didn't see it. She told me if I did not get the Vin # then she couldn't help me. I said ok and proceeded to leave. And I will be taking my car elsewhere. That's HORRIBLE customer service. Kay didn't want my business from the beginning. She was rude the entire to time. Some ppl look at you and automatically have a problem with you... 05/22/17 - It you read my previous review I had my fuel pump replaced. Here we are a little year later and my car randomly doesn't start yet again. I took it to a TRUSTED dealership and they tell me it's the fuel pump AGAIN. And also mentioned the springs in my back seat (where the pump is located) was broken. I truly believe they placed a faulty pump in my car. I call and they tell us the pump only has a 90 days warranty.. so I call another TWO Aamco and they BOTH say a year. So again, they lied. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to these folks!!!! They placed a faulty pump in car, broke my radio, and stole my sons baseball helmet. Horrible service, horrible dishonest place. read more

I called on a Thursday to spoke to a young lady about getting a new transmission, she asked a bunch of questions about my car and got all information needed. She said she will call me back....well on Friday close to them closing (I gave her "All Day" to call me back) I called them AGAIN and was told by a lady she would personally call me back on Monday with all information I need, price etc... well here it is end of business day on Monday 4-5 days later and no call from them....my work I needed done was put a new transmission in my 66 Mustang....you think they would want that work but I guess not hopefully your manager reads this because I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Our experience with the AAMCO location is an example of a business having every opportunity to do things right...and then didn't. My wife's check-engine like came on and we arranged to bring her car to this operation. We also asked that an oil change be performed. We dropped the car off prior to opening hours on a Thursday morning. We were informed that afternoon that, though the oil change had been done, they still hadn't had a chance to get a full "reading" about the source of the check-engine light but we were told that they would get to it the following day, Friday. After hearing nothing for most of the day Friday, we called in and learned that there was no news on the check engine light because no one had touched our car that day, This was 3pm after they had been open for 7hrs!!! I thought it was ridiculous for our car to slip in the pecking order and we were on the verge of having to leave the car another day. I chose to pay AAMCO for the oil change that had already been completed and informed them that they could do no further work. I asked what time they closed to that I would know when to pick the car up. When I was informed that they closed at 5, I asked what time they would open on Saturday. I was then informed that, though they are usually open on Saturdays, they would not be open this particular Saturday. I other words, if I hadn't asked about Saturday and assumed that I could come in during normal Saturday hours, I would have found them to be closed therefore taking our inconvenience to an entirely different level! When I spoke to the manager, I informed him that there was no excuse for not working on the car the second day. There was also no excuse for not informing me that they wouldn't be open that weekend. We had already made special arrangements for my wife to get to work on Thursday and Friday and now we will have to do so again at another location. Ultimately, the AAMCO Manager offered my wife a free oil change on our next visit. I found it to be grossly presumptuous to assume that there WOULD be another visit by us. No, the proper and genuine gesture in a case like this would have been to refund at least a portion of the $100+ dollars that we were charges for THIS oil change. Don't assume that, when you screw me over once, I'll be making another visit. I was not surprised at the number of negative reviews for this AAMCO when I came to yelp to leave my review. I just wish I had paid more attention to those reviews prior to bring my car here. This is the kind of customer service that will eventually lead to a business's failure. read more

I will do so in this communication and ask if for you to corrected it if you believe the information to be incorrect. The day we met was at your store. I explained that my car was slipping and that at times it would engage so quickly that the tire would burn out on the payment. You then took me to Midas in my car so that I could get the truck park there. While I drove behind you I notice from a different position (No driving) the car would yank. When I followed you to your store you mentioned that you clearly felt the slipping and that you would open it up to see what was happening. When you called to say it was ready you mentioned that you had replaced the crank shaft and that there as particles a pieces of metal (which you could NOT produce) but that it still slipped and that now I would hear a grinding noise which I did evidently. After arriving home, I realized that not only did I pay close to $2000.00 but now I had the same problem with a grinding noise. So, I called my mechanic friend in Arizona where I also reside and he said the they should have ever messed with the crankcase cause slipping happens in the transmission. I went in to see because the noise was getting louder and louder. And you told me you would order another crankcase. I called again on a few occasions and you said you would call me when it comes in so I waited a few days and went in. You then got on the phone while I was there and when you hung up you told me I would hear from you the next day because you felt we would have a new crankcase. A few days went by and you said you have the crankcase. When I got in the car it would not move, I tried all gears and nothing so I stopped by your store again to give you the keys because you were having it towed in. When you told me that it was ready you told me that it had another noise that developed. I told you I didn't want to pick it up because it's not fixed. You continue to try a persuade me saying this is a different noise now. WHAT? So, I had my wife take me to your store and when I drove it it did have a different noise along with the problem I brought it in I the first place. Unfortunately, you high tailed it out of the store so you wouldn't have to address it. At first I thought well it was at the end of the day so maybe that was the reason However, it's been weeks now and no word from you at all. I don't even have the paperwork for the second faulty crankshaft. I'm sure when we bring attention to your unethical business practices more will come forward with tale about you guys claiming metal particles in an area that should have shavings that's what the magnets are for. All you could produce was the shavings no twisted metal like you said. You have taken so much of my time that we will make you a topic for discussion on one of my radio affiliates in your area making it hard to say I was a once in a lifetime experience like most try to do. The car started to put put out. Went to Kragen next door to get a battery. Went to Aamco to get the battery replaced. Told me the car would be ready in 20 minutes. It wasn't. Waited another 20 minutes afterward. They replaced the battery, but did not check on the alternator. Car died the next day. Luckily I did not return to Aamco this time. I suspect they are cheating us. I went there to find out what my "check engine light" was for, since they check it for free. Even thought it takes 1 min to check it, they waited about 1 hour to do it. But that's not even the problem. So they told me what the code was, and that they have to take a closer look and take apart some parts to look for the problem. So I agreed. They called me a few hours later and told me that I need a new cam sensor, but said they don't have the part so I have to take it to the dealer. Shouldn't they order the part?? anyway, I bought the part from autozone and brought it to them. when I got there they said the car wouldn't start anymore, so they took the part that I brought. And they called me later and said the car is starting again. "but since we didn't get to the bottom of the problem, we will only charge you our minimum $60 fee." And so they didn't do anything with my part and insisted I take it to the dealer. I asked if I will make it all the way to the dealer. They said yes, "the car is running fine". but I didn't even last a mile from their shop and the car died and I had to tow it. I took it a mechanic, and found out there was leaking in the engine and also need a new timing belt and some other stuff. (cam sensor wasn't one of them) If ammco guys had actually looked at my car, they would have found at least some of the problem if not all. So I suspect they didn't even look at my car and charged me $60. read more
