This was my first time visiting this office. Everyone was so nice and very professional! The office was clean and there sanitizing practices are great! They made me feel very comfortable and relaxed! I am a diabetic and my eye exam contains a little bit more than a regular eye exam which can make me very anxious and nervous; which causes me to not perform well when asked questions when reading charts. This did not happen this time! Dr. Seim was so patient with me. Not only was he patient he explain everything about my results and paused to ask if I had questions and he attentively listened and answered every question I had. I love this place!! read more

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. I rarely post negative reviews but, this place takes the cake. I came in to get prescription lenses placed in my frames except one MAJOR step was not taken to ensure my lenses were ordered accurately. ... The PD (pupillary distance) was not checked. PD measurement is the KEY factor in making sure your glasses will fit you correctly and without it, you will likely experience blurry vision and headaches. "The wrong PD can induce eye strain, fatigue, headaches and blurry vision. If you have a high prescription and the wrong PD these symptoms are often much worse." So, when my glasses were ready, I asked to speak with the lady that took my order (who happened to be the Manager... which means she is very well aware of the protocols to make sure eyeglasses are customized correctly and the correct procedure to mail to the lab). She said that they normally check the PD AFTER the glasses are ordered. Seriously? That's like putting in new oil in the car and then trying to take out the old oil. Not only it is illogical, negligent but, can cause serious harm to those with major vision issues. What struck a chord with me was the lack of responsibility and callousness for her fault. After I stated that is not industry standard, how this step is always required by any lab and adhered by all the other optometrists I called... She then said they would redo it the correct way. The issue I have... is what else is this establishment skipping on doing correctly? The entire facility was packed with elderly that most likely have NO IDEA their glasses are being made incorrectly. How does this effect other customers that require them to drive, operate machinery, etc.? If this was a surgical office and they gave you a blood transfusion and THEN checked your blood type, this would be malpractice. My jaw dropped how unprofessional this place was... and how the Manager had no remorse for her actions. I had to bring this major error to her attention... as clearly the proper protocol is not being followed. The customer shouldn't know more than the trained experts. Hopefully, this review will help others so they are mindful of getting correct optical care. read more

Ended up breaking my frames on New Years and was out of town when it happened. Coming back to Virginia Beach, they were able to fit me in without an appointment to help repair my frames to where they would be wearable and did a really great job! Glasses are still crooked and I ordered new frames but at the stage they were in when I broke it. 10/10 read more

Who needs the CDC when you have this office imposing their own guidelines. Went to pick up my wife's contacts and discovered mask's are still and mandatory. I did not have one on me so I asked if they had any assessable. The young lady reached down behind the plexiglass and pulled out a box of mask's and proceeded to tell me I can purchase one for $2.00! My family have been your customers for over a 20 years! No exaggeration, 20 years, check your records! Over the past couple of years your team has progressively became more & more rude and disrespectful. AAPECS is not the only game in town and taking my business elsewhere. I am a business owner with over 400 associates and will NEVER recommend Atlantic Eyecare! I truly hope your $2.00 charge was worth it! read more

I have been a patient of this doctor for at least five years and possibly longer. They did not make me aware of their COVID 19 policy until I was halfway through my yearly checkup to get my eyes examined for new contacts. I answered their incoming survey truthfully, that I had the virus but was several days past the CDC recommended quarantine period. I made it through the initial part of the exam, speaking freely about my COVID 19 experience. At no time did any staff member mention that their office policy is 30 days past quarantine before you can be seen by the doctor. I can imagine if you are angry with your staff members for not following their own policy but Dr. Seim very rudely informed me that I must leave for "obvious reasons" and would not speak to me any further. I have never been treated so horribly by a member of the medical field. I have learned that since the situation that happened with me they have revamped how they ask patients about COVID and pre-screening to prevent something like this happening with someone else. Had they asked I would have told them prior to my appointment and would have rescheduled and had no issue. Because of the way the doctor treated me I will never go back and will tell anyone I know to avoid this place at all costs. I would also like to say that staff members there are wonderful and I am sad to not see them anymore. read more

The billing is really bad. I had a basic eye exam and my vision is really good. I use readying glasses only. I should not have a bill. I won't go too far into details but my experience left me feeling anxious. My advice is to have a conversation with your doctor about what/why they are billing your insurance. read more

I've been going here since I moved to the area 16 years ago. Dr Seim is always professional and kind. I now bring my 6 year old son. My only complaint is they don't really sell the right size glasses for my son. My husband took my son to his last appointment and while I had told him NOT to purchase his glasses there (from the previous year's experience) he did, anyway. The optician should have acknowledged they didn't have my son's size rather than selling my husband two pairs that were clearly too big. read more

Be careful, be cautious, and be advised. I had Lasik done from another carrier years ago. I decided to just get a routine eye exam completed as a "check-up" to make sure all was well. I called the carrier who completed my surgery from years ago and they no longer took my insurance so I had to find another carrier. I called a friend of mine who had Lasik surgery done and he recommended AAPECS, well I made appointment for the eye exam because my insurance informed me that the co pay would be $20. I went to the exam did the "routine things" but the lady asked me if I wanted pictures or if I wanted to dilate the eye. I chose to dilate but this process was NOT done on me. Later, I found that AAPECS was billing my main health insurance for a "diagnosis" that was fond and that I am now being charged $150 NOT $20! I called to dispute the charge and the "insurance lady" at AAPECS said that she could not help me and that a "nurse technician" had to call me back to explain the reasoning. The nurse technician began explaining that they found this "diagnosis" from the "dilation" I stopped her and explained that NO dilation was given to me and NO picture of my eye was taken; she proceeded to tell me she has been there in ten years and Dr. Seim has never not done one or the other. She even said "Dr. Seim DOCUMENTED that he dilated my eyes at 12 something pm"...I explained, "I know what dilation is and was and it was not done". (I was questioning the bill but now I question the ethics of this practice) I was getting flustered and she could tell so she said "another" lady will call me and hung up on me; real classy service! Beware and ask lots of questions on how you will be billed BEFORE you leave! read more

I should have read previous reviews and may not have had this problem. They are listed as providers on my Eye Med insurance (which is separate from medical). I let them know my insurance when I made the appointment for both my wife and I. When I went to the appointment, they requested my medical insurance card and my wife's (medicare) insurance card in addition to my Eye Med Card and not thinking anything, I gave them the information. Turns out they only filed a claim with Eye Med for my glasses and filed the exams under the medical insurance. I ended up paying almost $200 when my cost should have been $3.20 for the glasses!! When I went to discuss this with them, they said the notes showed my wife saying she had pain in here eyes which is outright untrue. I was with her during the exam and completed her questionnaire and nothing was ever said about pain. Both exams were suppose to be just routine eye exams to check for vision corrections. I was told that they could not resubmit a claim to Eye Med. I contacted Eye Med to see about any reimbursement and they said they could only review it if it was submitted by AAPECS Atlantic EyeCare as they are an approved provider.....beware of them as approved providers for any vision insurance as they seem to only want to bill medical (I assume for higher amounts). Lesson learned at my expense, we will not be going back for seconds :( read more
