Although they do do surgeries, they do more than that. There are 2 doctors here both very well known in the area and in the field of ophthalmology. I've had a great experience with them individually, but the biggest negative thing about their practice is the wait. Be prepared to be here for at least an hour and 15 min. They have so many patients packed in that they inevitably fall behind. However, they do spend the time talking to you once it's your turn. Also in the same building is their affiliated optometry center. Instead of an ophthalmologist you can opt to see an optometrist. Then just walk right over to the other counter and get your glasses prescription filled! I often like to come in to get a few candies which they have a big bowl of by the counter. shhhhh

Having been referred to this place by my PCP I was looking forward to EXEMPLARY care. Instead I left frustrated and with unanswered questions. None of the concerns I had for my visual deficits were answered. In fact I was told that the glasses I've been wearing for well over a decade weren't needed. Which I didn't understand as I couldn't read the eye chart without squinting. HOWEVER, I was given an option to BUY a $22 eye mask (that could be purchased for a FRACTIONS of the cost at Bed, Bath and Beyond) to help relieve tired eyes. I will not return to this location.

Yesterday 08/09/25 I was called before my appointment on 08/10/25 saying I needed proof I've been wearing contacts. I explained to them that they have that information. I was told on the phone that they have to cancel my appointment since I didn't have proof I wore contacts. I asked them to pull the video tape from last year showing that I entered the business with contacts and was shown where to remove them for my appointment and was walked over to the sink since I am blind without them. Do not waste your time since they loose records and cancel your appointment for no legit reason. I had 3 appointments, since they canceled mine, i canceled the rest. I will go somewhere I feel valued as a patient.

I received a good amount of appointment reminders which is necessary for me because I am forgetful. Upon arrival, the check in process was easy especially since I filled out all the forms online. The staff were very pleasant. Every single person we encountered were very kind. The only thing I didn't like is because it is a chain establishment, it felt kind of like patience/clients are handled like an assembly line. There is a waiting area which doesn't feel inviting. The process took a little long. I just needed an eye exam for my son who ultimately didn't need glasses after all. They seem to run some great promotions and accept many insurances. However, I didn't use vision insurance for my son so we ended up paying $60 - $70 out of pocket for the eye exam. They seem to have a good selection of glasses. My son's exam was bare minimum nothing special or additional. I believe this is pretty cheap for an eye exam. However don't expect personal or top notch experience, it is a chain establishment after all. They had two optometrist on staff. We seen the young woman optometrist who was very nice and personable. Good experience just not 5 star.

After waiting for 25 minutes and noticing that there seemed to be someone in front of me for a check-up, I asked how long it would be before I could be seen. The response was "why...do you need to be out by a certain time?" I stated that it was already after my appointment time and there was someone ahead of me. He confirmed this and I said it seemed unlikely that I would be seen for at least another 30 minutes. He hinted "at least"...so I just left. I will monitor my claims at my insurance carrier as I told him to just throw my form away and not enter me in the system (which they hadn't bother to do yet). Anyway, I do not appreciate places that feel that the customer's (or in this case patient's) time has no value. I would encourage Dr. Chan-Perez to have her staff CALL folks who have appointments if she is running an hour behind. At least give people the opportunity to reschedule. I won't be trying for a new appointment here as there are MANY eye doctors within a few minutes of my house.

But when it became apparent I had some kind of "debris particle" stuck in my cornea and no amount of eyewash would rinse it out, Patient First referred me to Dr. Snyder. I was in a lot of pain at the time and Dr. Snyder was able to see me within a couple hours of calling for an appointment. He had to scrape my cornea to clear the debris. It wasn't scary at all because he was totally cool and told me exactly what I could expect. He was really great at taking the time to explain how it would feel and what I could do to get through it. More than the eye poking, I was afraid of the bill because my health insurance doesn't cover any out of pocket medical costs. Dr. Snyder went with me to make sure I paid a reduced rate when I checked out at the front desk. My bill was only $80. What a relief! He also told me he normally would have people come back in for a recheck, but to avoid cost, I only had to return if I was having a problem. I'm not gonna lie, the short recovery time was painful. But I was better after a day and my eyes are happy and healthy again. Dr. Snyder was great. I would definitely go to him again if I have any eye problems.
