I went to LB (see review) up in Northfield, and while I was there I decided to return the items. Stupid store policy forced me into a giftcard or exchange, so I decided to look around. This store is not really my thing. I think I'd have loved it in my 20s, but as I'm getting older I feel more and more out of touch and everything is just not my style. The store is clean and well-organized and everything has that shiny and new 'buy me" pull. Luckily, I'm working on being practical, so I did okay. :) The guy behind the counter is SUPER friendly and helpful. He suggested things that I might be interested in and guided me around the store. I finally decided on an I 'heart' PANDAS seat belt - belt and obtained a giftcard with assurance from the clerk that I'll certainly find something I want online. This was a fantastic experience and an example of how customer service should be conducted.

We actually found them by accident last Christmas when we needed an emergency Christmas tree stand, and we've been coming back ever since. What keeps us coming back is the experience. It's not just that someone asks if you need help when you walk in. Throughout the entire time you're in the store, multiple team members check in to make sure you have what you need. You never feel like you're interrupting someone or that you're on your own. It's a level of service that's become incredibly rare. One visit really stood out. We brought in some hardware from a project because we weren't sure what screws we needed. Instead of sending us to an aisle and wishing us luck, a team member took the time to match the exact size and type we needed. We were able to head home and finish the project that same day. The best way I can describe this place is that it feels like shopping in a different era - in the best possible way. Everyone genuinely seems to care that you have a great experience and leave with the right solution. That's not something you find very often anymore. We're lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

Obviously a journeyman position until the person finds something better with more pay. Never the same person when I come in. Now, on to products and service. Came in today for a spark plug check. First thing was to check the gap, go back, start the machine. I suspected the plug was bad, but started with this. Well guess what, they sell spark plugs, but don't have a gap tool! I commented to the person every machine is different, it does not come off the assembly line correct with this. She just looked at me like I was more than crazy. Did not even offer to help me find a replacement plug. Popcorn hour for the staff? I went to the auto parts store, simple gap tool for reasonable price. If I need building or hardware, I just go to Lowes or HomeDepot. The problem is they cannot connect the dots on a project. Part of that is they don't keep good staff, and that is what I come here for, advice and direction. And, they are frequently out of needed items. Correction - what I used to come here for...

Depending on the season they have snowboards, boots, bindings, wax, and cold weather clothing. More of a skate and summer/spring store though. Staff is friendly and you'll certainly find something for your teen or niece and nephew they'll love. Selection varies on store size but this location is one of the better Zumiez I've seen in a mall. If you want jewelry you'll have to stop in at the nearby Spencer's. They do have sunglasses and wallets here though. Kind of a Journey's but for older kids. Maybe fifteen up to mid twenties. All depends on your sense of style. Really enjoy coming in during spring sales to grab some snowboard wax on the cheap. The stores tend to do closeouts on items rather than ship them back to Zumies HQ. I'll grab some wacky socks, snowboard wax, a wax scraper, base cleaner, and once an iron for $60 cheaper than during peak ski and snowboard season. Win win.
