Knowledgeable and Trustworthy!…read more I have a 15+ year old refrigerator that neither the refrigerator or freezer were working. Akai inspected the entire unit and indicated the issue was the defroster in the freezer wasn't working and needed to be replaced. He quoted me what I thought was a very fair price but before I could say "Shut up and take my money!" he added that when he had unplugged the unit & plugged it back in, when starting up again the compressor sounded a bit suspicious. Thus he indicated I could go ahead and pay him to install a new defroster in the freezer, but it is only a matter of time before the compressor craps out and then replacing it would be over $1,000 and not worth it. So get this....he proposes that I defrost it the old school way by unplugging it, opening both the freezer & fridge doors, placing towels in front of the unit, and allowing all of the ice to melt and then just mop up all the water with towels and my wet vac and that would solve the problem for now. And in a few months when the issue occurs again I can just repeat the old school defrosting method until the compressor finally goes kaput, and then get a brand new refrigerator. Sure enough, I proceeded to do exactly what he recommended and lo and behold the fridge & freezer started working properly again. And I am all too happy to repeat every few months to squeeze every last bit of life from this old fridge until I have to get a new one. Akai could have very easily kept quiet about the compressor sounding sketchy and that it could fail in 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years and gotten a nice service order for replacing the defroster since he had already devoted the valuable time & effort to come to my house. However, he instead chose to be completely honest and forthcoming which is not as common as it should be and is very appreciated. I have saved his contact info and the next time I have any issues with any appliances he will be the technician I call. Knowledge and experience is great and there are a lot of qualified & knowledgeable appliance repair companies out there. However, also possessing honesty and integrity is why I strongly recommend Akai for any appliance repair issues.

He is very knowledgeable about different appliances and he knew mine right away and he had an idea what it could be and sure enough it was the soap & softener dispenser. He showed me how to remove & clean it. It had held water wasn't draining back into the machine like it was supposed to just a minor little thing but now I know how to clean it periodically. Worth it for my peace of mind & also made sure I knew where my water shut off was just in case. These are good things to know , most people might not & that I'm a woman & older, it's good to know. Plus it doesn't hurt to have my machine looked at after 16 years. I've been here so I won't be afraid to use my washing machine so thank you AKIA.

I hired an idiot to repair it. The repair lasted only until May 23rd 2025, 5 days before the 90 day warranty provided by the idiot would have been up. Since the idiot didn't want to honor his own warranty, he ghosted me. So, on Wednesday, June 4th 2025, I called Eagle Appliance Repair to fix my Dryer again. They sent me a quote and said that they would Come fix it on Thursday June 5th 2025 at 2pm, I agreed, I then informed Eagle that if the first idiot showed up I would let them know. He didn't! At 1:55 pm, on Thursday June 5th 2025, I sent Eagle a text message stating "FYI We are home whenever you get here is fine." They never showed, answered Text messages or phone calls! On Thursday June 5th 2025 at 3pm, I contacted another Appliance Repair Company who said they could come out Friday June 6th 2025 between 9-10am & FINALLY I GOT MY DRYER FIXED!!! So, Thank You, Eagle Appliance Repair for Nothing!!

Buyer Beware…read more Built-in Appliance Owner Rob Johnson Just the Facts: Bought a Kitchen Aid Dishwasher and a Speed Queen Front Loader Washing Machine approx. $3,600. Had a friend pick up the Dishwasher that day and was told delivery of the SQ would happen in a few days. Got a message saying delivery would take place the following Monday, one week later. Delivery day: old machine was taken out, SQ put in and installer told me all was ok but, a little issue. No hot water. Maybe a solinode issue but, owner would send someone to fix. I told installer that I wanted a switch out for new working machine that I had paid for. I could wait until new one came. He said probably not an issue and to just call the owner. He then left with my machine. Here are the quotes to both my husband and I during conversations with Mr. Johnson to resolve the delivery of a broken machine by redelivering a functioning new machine. "it's not broken, it just doesn't get hot water." "90% of the people don't use hot water." "These machines come from a factory in Wisconsin. They don't test them before they ship them. They don't have time for that." "This is like a 1 in a thousand problem. It just happened to you." "Me: if you put that machine on your showroom floor with a sign on it that said "this machine doesn't get hot water" would anyone buy it? Him: IDK "I don't have any in stock" "This is a warranty issue, that's what warranties are for" "To get a new one in stock, I'd have to call the rep and buy one" It is getting increasingly difficult to support small business, this one in particular, American Veteran advertised, with this level of customer service. End result, though the owner set up service for the machine.I found out from the repair company that diagnostics were set up to happen a day after I was told to wait for service. Mid day, I called Mr. Johnson to determine when in 24 hrs service was to happen. He said, "IDK when they are coming customer service is poor these days." (You can't make this stuff up) I asked for the repair company's name and their phone number, it took some work but, I was then given the information. This is when I found out that the original appointment was made for the following day even though I was told to wait for service a day before the appointment was made for. Though the machine is now fixed and the other is functioning, We will never support Built-In Appliance in Kingwood again and would encourage all to do own due diligence regarding this business.

He gave me a clear diagnosis and explained that the evaporator coils or air vents become blocked by a solid mass of ice, preventing cold air from circulating. He used a handheld steamer to quickly and safely melt away the ice blocking the evaporator coils and internal vents; however, it didn't work. He later instructed me to unplug the refrigerator, leave the doors open for 24 hours, then turn it back on the next day for 12 hours. I was happy to see my refrigerator fixed and cooling again. I popped on Yelped, searched appliance repair, and it was very obvious that I should reach out to KrisKelly first, based on the great reviews. I submitted a request-a-quote on Yelp on a Sunday afternoon, and heard back Monday morning. By Thursday, there was someone at my house and my dryer was fixed within about half an hour. The service guy even gave me some great tips on maintaining my washer, dryer and other appliances for the future. It sucks to need an appliance repaired, but when you can get the problem resolved as quickly and as pain free as possible, it's such a relief. That's exactly what happened here. This will definitely be my first call next time it happens (hopefully not for many years).
