I am a current dive club member and have dived with Aaron's dive shop numerous times. My wife and I went on a 2 tank dive charter to koko craters dive site. Our experience overall was very frustrating and unprofessional and was far below the level of expectations we would expect as paying club members. A few items: - between boat and bus delays we left the dock an hour and a half late. This delay lead to overall rushing of the crew to setup gear and organize folks in a very haphazard and uncoordinated way - the rush to leave and make up time meant that our rental gear was very disorganized and my wife ended up not having a seat to setup her gear, and our gear was not thoroughly checked before leaving the dock. Thankfully nothing was left behind as I reminded the crew that they had forgotten about my wife in the chaos - a mixture of students and certified members all diving at once lead to a dangerous sense of "you'll be alright just jump in" where it felt incredibly rushed to get us all in the water to make up time. There was nothing inherently dangerous about this per se but this is not the precedent you want to set on the boat where folks feel like they need to hurry into the water because of the crews lack of preparation and timeliness. Gear was constantly being moved around between seats in the bustle of multiple groups entering the water which can easily lead to someone grabbing the wrong items or forgetting to check a critical piece of gear. - due to lack of time we ended up diving at the same site twice in a row. In order to try and make the dive more enjoyable our dive master offered to have us swim with him to a different dive location close by. This location already had other boats moored at it and we did not have any buoys or markers to signal these boats that there were divers underneath of them. This lead to a situation where our group was underwater with multiple boats driving over our heads above us. This thankfully happened without issue but could have very quickly lead to a dangerous situation if there was an emergency ascent without the boats being aware we were below them. - during both dives our dive master never checked on my air level once. Again this is not inherently dangerous in and of itself but is a further symptom of lack of coordination and safety. Thankfully no one was hurt and nothing went wrong during this dive charter, but seeing how the crew and captain Garrett operated this boat during our experience it does not surprise me that there was a recent situation with the 5 divers being lost at sea and abandoned by the boat captain without any contact to the Coast Guard. If the captain can get into a situation where multiple dive members are lost at sea and he doesn't contact the authorities in order to cover his mistake what else are they willing to overlook and bend the rules on? All it takes is one person not doing their job and divers can be killed. You can tell a lot about a dive company by the way they run their charters and treat their paying members and Aaron's has shown us recently that their standards have dropped. Hopefully no one has to be seriously injured or lost at sea before the owner starts to care and implement changes for every trip to be a safe as possible. Safety is everyone's responsibility and fate is the hunter just waiting for a mistake. read more

I had the pleasure of diving with Bella and her team. I traveled from Florida to dive the Corsair plane wreck and I can truly say it was a special treat. Bella made this dive worth every cent from setting up my gear and taking me to the dive site. The second dive a reef dive was just as spectacular. I got to see an octopus and white tip reef shark. We just did a discovery dive with Aaron's. They were very professional and considerate of our questions and stresses. I was unable to equalize all the way so I wasn't able to go all the way down to the bottom floor but it was really fun still and cool to experience the world underneath the water. My friend was unable to go down and had a panic moment. The staff was very considerate and patient with her. There was no pressure at all. We are both planning on attending the certification to start in the pool and so I can work on my equalizing skills! read more

I tried to schedule a 'refresher' dive with Aaron's Dive Shop and office team was not easy to work with (wanted medical verification, wanted to charge me lots of $$$, etc, etc) - so I did a refresher dive somewhere else that made it easier and more affordable. Then I went on a two shallow dives with Aaron's and was quite impressed with their Master Divers and boat operations. Mollie was top notch and led my team, I would dive with her anywhere. Enjoyed our dive with Kevin (dive master from Aaron's) last Sunday but did not like the small OLD crappy boat we went on I think Captain Terri was her name. We had 7 people diving on a very tight old boat. Captain Terri was rude to us but Kevin really tried to give us the best experience possible. I was told on the phone we would use a boat from Aaron's dive shop but we ended up on an old boat that barely ran. To pay over $320 dollars for that was a great disappointment and then see the other boats at our site I would enjoy more. Diving is critical to us and don't like when mislead. I did my AOW with Aaron's and they are absolutely amazing to work with. I got three deep wreck sites, and a fourth on an added day. Bella is a wonderful instructor who is super fun and laid back. Larry, the course director is super kind and supportive; I saw him take the time to reassure and calm down a discover scuba diver who had panicked after her skills. He was super supportive and encouraging. Garret the boat captain is also very supportive, taking care of your gear between dives and helping out wherever possible. Christian, another instructor, also seems super chill and fun. Overall this is a terrific bunch of people who love what they do and legitimately care for you and your experience. I booked three charters through Aaron's on this trip: two trips on the Honey Ann and one on Na Makana. Aaron's runs a good operation. The little boat (Honey Ann) was just fine for our small group of divers. The Na Makana, the larger boat, was packed but the DMs and captain ran a smooth operation and everything went well. The staff was attentive but not overbearing, and I appreciated how they were available to divers who wanted attention while allowing the regulars and more experienced divers to have a less-guided experience. Scuba is my zen/alone time and I enjoy doing my own thing underwater. I recommend them highly. Justin, Ken, and Christian were great to work with, and Captain Matt was excellent...even when I sheered off the water nozzle (sorry, Matt--can I buy you a drink on my next trip over?). My only wish is that I could dive the wrecks out of Kewalo Basin with Aaron's. I love the LCU and Corsair wrecks, but it would be nice to get back on the Sea Tiger and YO. I usually purchase my snorkel and mask on amazon bc relatively inexpensive and convenient but quality has been an issue..after spending $60 and the mask leaking after three weeks of recreational swimming use, I decided to try someplace local. Hence the call To This place. Salesman answered phone wasn't especially friendly but I didn't want to drive to Kailua if they didn't have what I was looking for so I ignored his somewhat dismissive tone. He answered my questions with proficient answers but finally cut me off and told Me to come down before 4. I tend to lean on the sensitive side so I put on my big girl pants and went down. One customer and a salesman. I waited a few minutes then decided to walk around the shop. After I circled the shop and looked around, the salesman said a bit harshly that if I wanted to go into the store I had to sign in. I had already saw the whole store so I figured no sense signing in. I almost walked out but I needed a mask. Once he finished with the customer he nicely asked what he could help me with. My preferred customer service style is proficient but also friendly. I realized I was only going to get proficient with this person. He listened to me, showed me some masks, made suggestions and I found what I wanted. He seemed to loosen up a bit which was nice. A family walked in with two young boys not wearing masks and the salesman was a bit so to them and informed them that no one was allowed in store without a mask. Valid point but again, a bit brisk for my taste and the father IMO. Anyway, I used my mask and snorkel, am very happy with the purchase, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I swim daily so I figure I will make good use of it! read more

Was referred to Aaron's by Max when doing Try Scuba. I had my certification but realized that wrecks and many reefs were deeper than my basic certification would allow, so I signed up for the Advance Open Water course and it has been great! It comes with the online training, all the gear and 3 days of boat dives (2 a day). Stefan was the dive master on both and he is knowledgeable and very helpful. On the first dive he was assisted by Amy who was also great. Last night was with Will. Garrett was the driver last night and I really appreciated his help with gear while I was suffering from motion sickness. Despite that I still had a great time and felt really taken care of. I do think the night dive would be better if we left at 6pm instead of 5, so there isn't an hour of waiting on a rocking boat between the dives, but otherwise, no issues! Looking forward to my final day and having the flexibility to do many more dives in the future! read more

Before the pandemic we had many great dives with Aaron's. Since the pandemic we've had nothing but problems. We were ready to get back into diving twice a month again so we renewed our dive club membership and booked a dive. That dive had to be rescheduled due to boat problems. When it came time for our rescheduled dive we got a call that morning - more boat problems. Since they were frantically calling everyone that morning they said they'd call us back to reschedule. No call back. I went there a week later in person to reschedule and booked a west side dive on a different boat in the hopes we'd finally get in the water. Nope. That dive got cancelled, too. Meanwhile, we hadn't used our equipment since having it serviced through Aaron's during the lockdown. We booked a dive with another company and discovered one of the low pressure hoses wasn't working. We took it back to Aaron's to see what could be done. They ordered a new hose and said it would be up to two weeks before they get it. It's been three weeks now with no call. My husband called but they just said, "Sorry it's not here yet." This has been a very sad a disappointing experience and unfortunately it's not over yet since we still don't have a working hose. UPDATE - it's been over a month now. No hose and no call. What a great dive team! Got to the dock 10 min early for 2 DSDs and 1 certified diver. Maddie, Stefan and Capt Rick were already there and ready to go. Maddie was awesome with the discover scuba experience , patient and Really helped both get comfortable with the gear straight from the boat and stayed focused on them throughout their dive. She helped them have such an awesome experience they are already trying to figure out when to go next and how fast to get certified . Simple koko crater dive spot, big beautiful turtles and plenty of fish living in the coral. Fresh pineapple ready for us on the boat after the dives.
