Awesome dive with Maddie, James, and Skipper Garrett. Very professional team that were very personable and efficient. The briefs were very clear and consise with expectations of what we could potentially see where we were going. They engaged each diver individually to ensure there weren't any questions and that everything was clear and understood. From unloading the gear from the van, setting it up, getting it on the boat, swapping tanks, to breaking the gear down and getting it unloaded back in the van they were super efficient and were on top of it to keep the trip moving quickly. This is my 3rd year diving with the crew at Aaron's Dive Shop, spending January & February on the island and diving about twice a week. I also joined their dive club, a good value-added option. Wanted to try diving, scheduled a discover scuba with this shop. 10 people crammed on 6 person boat, 2 discover scuba students and 2 basic open water students. 3 certified divers, 1 instructor, 1 brand new dive master and a boat captain. The water was very rough, I asked if we could stay closer to shore (we actually did on the 2nd tank but too late) 4 people were sea sick..it was a bad call and terrible ratio for discovery dive. We ended up not going in, the students were sick and said current was bad, surge was bad. We called the owner who gave us an arrogant response and wanted to argue about the number of people on the boat. Would not refund any money. If they had stayed inland and not had extra people on the boat...1 instructor for 2 discover divers would've been ok. Would not recommend based on how we were treated. read more

I give Aaron's Dive Shop my very strong recommendation. When I got here I was just Open Water certified and had only done about 8 dives. I'd never dived on Oahu before, but have been staying in Lanikai and spotted their shop in Kailua. They launch boat dives from Hawaii Kai, all to fixed-line dive spots; the AM boat does one deep and one shallow dive, and the PM boat does two shallow dives. Since many of the deep dives are wrecks and I was only certified for Open Water, I signed up for my Advanced Open Water training since it got me three boat trips and the chance to see some wrecks. They have been absolutely wonderful. Everyone from the store staff to the dive masters and boat captain are great, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people. My advanced training felt thorough and with those six dives under my belt I feel vastly more comfortable on my dives. The sites are great. Water clarity has been amazing, nearly 100' the days I've gone. The corsair and barge wrecks were captivating. The shallow dive spots are more varied - there's not a ton of reef over there and the first shallow dive I went on was just a small ridge with some neat fish; the subsequent two were more interesting to me, with a big variety of fish and, at the last one at turtle cove, a lot of live coral, eels, octopus, and a turtle or two. I brought my own bc and regulator but their rental gear is very high quality - good bcs with weight pouches instead of clunky weight belts, wetsuits in great condition, and so on. Some of the better rental gear I've seen. And I found their prices overall - for dives and for gear rental - to be extremely reasonable. Based on how good my experience with them has been, we've booked all the spots on an upcoming boat for our group, and I signed up for Rescue Diver training immediately after that. Really can't say enough good things about these folks and the dives, especially the deep ones. I'll be diving with them anytime I'm on Oahu. read more

Did a 2-tank boat dive in January off the dock in Hawaii Kai with Bella and Chris as DM's/Guides and Garrett as Captain.They worked seamlessly as a crew and didn't miss a beat when it came to loading/unloading the boat, assembling gear, explaining the dive plan & safety measures, helping customers, offering de-fog, passing around snacks...they even passed out hot lavender towels after the dive and fresh-cut pineapple! My fiance and I recently visited Hawaii and decided to go with Aaron's for both fun dives and Rescue Diving certification - total of 6 dives with the shop. On the boat, our DM provided the briefing clearly, was helpful, and friendly. Safety was definitely a priority when we had to abort a dive due to very strong current. As for our RD cert class, our instructor Ed McNeil was very patient and taught the class in a manner that was very clear and no fuss. Recently while diving on Oahu my new SeaLife Micro 3.0 camera stopped working. I contacted SeaLife and they were awesome! Sven tried to do everything he could to get me a camera for the rest of my dives, but there was no way to get me one from the mainland before I returned home. So I called several dive shops, all were extremely helpful and would recommend someone at another shop with no luck.... But wait there's more! Nick at Big Island Divers reached out to the local SeaLife rep who located a new replacement camera on another island. These folks got it expressed to Aaron's where Bailey charged it up, update the firmware and delivered the camera to me. I had a blast doing two dives today with Aaron's Dive Shop team! We saw a monk seal as soon as we surfaced from the first dive and enjoyed the wildlife a great deal! The team here is excellent, professional, hilarious, and extremely friendly. I was so nervous going on my first dives in several years. Being PADI certified I was still a little nervous and the team here calmed my nerves and made me feel safe. They even taught me how to set up my equipment and check everything. Big thumbs up to Addison and Madison for taking photos, taking us to the coolest places like the pipe and the horseshoe, and keeping an eye on all of us this whole time. The snacks were also great. I was recommended Aaron's after I called out on my Facebook for any dive center's on O'ahu. I always go with word-of-mouth recommendations. Aaron's proved to be great! After completing the online booking form, they took care of everything! Packing all our kit for us. Arrival at the center was easy and off we went to meet the boat. You have the option of meeting at the dive shop or at the boat. A clear email from Aaron's tells you everything you need to know. Our dive sites were great and the vis spectacular. Jaan was particularly patient with my husband, who I'm forcing to learn to love diving!!! After our dives our leads, Captain Jamie, Jaan and Kaley took care of all our gear loading it on and off the boat and taking everything back to the dive shop so that we could carry on with our day. This was one of the most low maintenance dive experiences I've ever had!! I would 100% recommend Aaron's and I will definitely dive, confidently, with them again. read more

This place is the best worst first of all, the snorkel gear was bad quality and dirty. When they gave it to us, it was dirty and not clean. They said we had to buy the cleansing liquid which costed $8. Even after buying it to clean them, I still wasn't able to see through the goggles so I couldn't end up using them. The rental for 2 snorkel kits was $50 which is more expensive than if you were to rent it in Waikiki. When we brought the kits back, there was just a tiny of sand on the flippers so the girl told me to go to the back and hose them down. This was so ridiculous Bc they were never clean to begin with!! They get you to pay extra money to clean them yourself when it should have been clean to begin with!! Never again will we rent from them again and I don't recommend this place. Better off renting from the places in Waikiki- better quality, clean, and better customer service. read more

This time I got to dive with my brother in law- due to us not knowing our schedule, we only booked 1 day in advance, but this wasn't a problem for the Aaron's squad. Dave was super helpful in taking our reservation and giving me all the dive site information. I was a little nervous about getting to the shop so early in the morning for the early morning dives, but not to worry! The shop takes care of this for you. At no extra charge, complimentary pick up at your hotel or residence is included. Due to the last minute nature of my packing, B and I both forgot our C cards, luckily, he knew his cert number and BC I had dove with Aaron's last year, I was in the system. The boat crew and staff are all super friendly and helpful. Our Dive Master Ryan was great about pointing out sea life and even got an Octopus to Ink for us! Safety is definitely their number 1 concern and the team was great about keeping an eye on the group and air levels- I was worried that my air was too low to continue; when I showed Ryan, he confirmed and quickly took me back to the boat line to ascend. I definitely feel safe with the staff and have had great diving experiences with Aaron's. I will continue to dive with Aaron's on my future returns to Hawaii! read more

A day of meeting dolphins, sea turtles, eels, tropical fish, and sea urchins up close and personal...Aaron's Dive Shop introduced us to that and more as part of an introductory dive package purchased through Living Social. This amazing, other-worldly experience was made possible through the fantastic instruction of Melanie and Sylvia, the dive masters for our excursion. Our party of four consisted of three who had never experienced scuba before, and these ladies did a terrific job of showing us the ropes so that we understood what to expect, knew the basic skills, and felt safe and comfortable the whole time. They were laid back and super friendly but very professional as well. We checked in at the dive shop and rode with them to where the boat was waiting for us at Maunalua Bay Beach Park (across from Hawaii Kai Town Center). After we reached the dive site, we made two shallow water dives, 30-40 feet in depth, staying under first 15 then 25 minutes. There were other dive charters in the vicinity but none at our exact location. Light snacks and bottled water were provided (they recommended that we not eat too much as it could cause nausea). The excursion lasted 4.5 hours. If you have never taken a trip of this kind before and are unaccustomed to boating, you will need to wear your swimsuit and sunscreen and consider bringing a beach bag with sunglasses, swim cover-up, towel, slippers (flip-flops), and hat. You will be out on the water for a long time, and you might end up getting colder than you expect between being in the water and feeling the windy conditions on the boat while you are wet. Take something for motion sickness if there is any possibility you could feel sea sickness as you will be in a small boat. They provide all the diving gear you need. Other than that, relax and enjoy--it's a whole new incredible world down in the deep blue sea! read more
