Stay away!! Paid over $5000 for carpet that within less than a year started to show discoloration, fading and poor seam installation. Owners "independent" inspector claimed that something was coming out of our furnace vents that was causing the discoloration and fading. Also blamed it on the use of benzoyl peroxide, a common ingredient in acne medicine that was "floating in the air." Owner is a liar, sells poor quality products and will make up any excuse not to work with customers to solve obvious problems that are not the customers fault. Will sell you and then not support. It was a DIY install job that had issues the entire time. They gave me a contact for a kitchen with my name on it when I gave a deposit for the work, when I was having a bathroom done, I should have known then it was going to be a disaster. They order the wrong tile, started 3 months late. Said it would be a 9 day job, and it went 2 months. I had cigarettes butts all over my yard, they cleaned nothing, 1 day they guy left with all his stuff left set up in my dry way. They would fix nothing, and they left our bathroom in horrible shape. Grout where it did not belong, and over 3 dozens spots where they did not grout. Then they turn around and say it is all my fault. When I call, email, and stop to send pictures with the issues, they turn around and say they fixed them. I think they had 2 jobs going on with issues and took care of the other houses issues and forgot about us. The bathroom is a gut job after they so called were complete. Don't waste your time here. They may have been nice at one time, but no longer. The guy coming to measure us the owner too, he won't tell you that, because after they sell you a job, you will never be able to talk to him again, he will always not be in. read more

This is the best flooring company in Beaver/Allegheny County. We had carpeting installed on our back deck and it turned out beautiful. I have used big box stores and Pittsburgh regional companies but have never found the personal and professional approach I received from Abbey Carpet. Many years ago the owner, David, designed and installed an amazing master bath shower and floor. 19 years later it is still beautiful. His insight was amazing. I am a DIY person so I checked pricing and as always was concerned with the quality of the installation. The installer arrived on time and ready to work. What I thought would take 4 to 5 hours took 2 hours including installing a heavy padding underneath. You cannot go wrong with this company!!!! read more

Unfortunately I did not seek advice about flooring contractors before starting our first floor project in January 2018. If I did I would have quickly found out that Abbey has one of the worst reputations in the Beaver County area. Now unfortunately I am paying for it. Within a few months after finishing the project, grout started popping up all over the place. They came and looked at it and after telling us it was one thing they eventually blamed it on the subfloor (which they originally said it wasn't but a friend later told me that is a popular excuse of theirs because they can push the cost back on to them) and agreed to replace it. The job was rescheduled for August and was supposed to take two weeks. We are now at the end of week six and the end is still nowhere in sight. They have lied to us throughout and their latest lie was the last straw that led to this review. They assured us in the middle of week six that they would be complete by the end of the week and they would work the weekend to assure that it would happen. I just visited the house at 7:00pm on Saturday (we have had to live at a different place since this has been going on because the house is practically uninhabitable) and nothing was done today. Because they are having to eat the cost for a job poorly done in the first place they are basically taking their good old time replacing the floor and continually lying to us throughout the process. Zero business ethics. The only reason I gave them one star is because I couldn't give them zero. The lesson learned is don't let perceived convenience or a good price sucker you into using Abbey because it will likely cost you more in the long run. read more

Here are the facts: 1) I purchased 4 rooms of hardwood flooring from Abbey Carpet in May and it was installed at that time with the help of a general contractor who coordinated the resources. 2) All precautions were taken to acclimate the wood prior to installation. My house has proper humidity and it was tested by installers, piano tuner and a flooring inspector. The installation was done by installers that Abbey contract and approve. 3) The brand was Arc Flooring aka Premiere 4) After a few weeks I noticed that the wood was shrinking, had a few chips in the finish. 5) By August I had two areas where the finish was bubbling up and lifting. 6) Abbey Carpet offered a free box of the product to fix the two obvious lifting problems. However, they did not address a solution to the shrinking or future finish failures. 7) My independent testing of an extra leftover wood plank from the batch found the finish would begin to bubble with only a quarter size of water on the floor for 30 mins. whether the water was in the middle of the plank, at the beveled edge and basically on any scratch. 8) Abbey, with the agreement of the mfg., employed an "independent" inspector. 9) The report that the inspector produced focused on what happened after the wood arrived at my location ONLY. There was no inquiry with the mfg. as to product quality nor its practices or tests done on uninstalled wood to understand the entire problem. Its conclusion was that I was ENTIRELY AT FAULT for using a steam mop to clean it. It totally discounts the OBVIOUS findings of my simple tests which demonstrated clearly the defects and sub-par performance of the wood flooring. In addition, there were no written care instructions on or in any of the many boxes; nor was there any attempt of verbal instructions. 10) There were areas that a steam mop had never been used, as in the living room. Additionally, the wood itself wasn't bubbling. It was the finish only. And water should make wood expand not contract. 11) Abbey and Arc/Premiere took no responsibility for the defective non-performing product nor the inadequate provision of appropriate care instructions. They blame the GC for the lack of instructions and are TOTALLY SILENT on the POOR PRODUCT QUALITY. I have worked as a Manufacturer utilizing Sales channels for over 20 years and our Distribution Sales Channels have always exhibited that they are in the business to educate and provide service to end-user customers where manufacturers do not have adequate personnel to provide that service to do so. Moreover, as a manufacturer rep it is critical to get feedback on questionable product performance immediately to rectify any potential issues. It was clear that Abbey sought a scapegoat and had no intention of appropriately following up on this very troubling and expensive problem that they caused my family. Whether it was attributable to Abbey, or the manufacturer, or both, is still uncertain from our end. Secondly, no investigation was made of the manufacturers practices to insure that their product and this batch maintained standards that would support long-term finish adherence to the wood and would not shrink in a few months, showing gaps EVERYWHERE and wood finish failures. BUYER BEWARE!!! I would never do business with Abbey Carpet (or Premiere) again for the cost and even more importantly the pain and suffering they caused by their NON-RESPONSIVE customer service behavior through the whole ordeal. They HIDE from issues, drag their feet in responding to customer issues and appear to game the system when called out on legitimate product issues. In addition, they don't seek to educate, assist or support customers or in attempting some sort of customer satisfaction. I am very disappointed to have chosen to do business, particularly with this inferior Product Manufacturer, with this organization and will be certain to spread the word of how poorly their business serves their "customers" read more

We hired an independent installer to do our tile work, and he ordered supplies from Abbey for us. Our project was time sensitive and Abbey was very slow with everything. Our installer provided square footage to Abbey. They did nothing for one week, so I stopped in the store to put down a deposit. They took my deposit, and still took 5 days to place the order. They ordered the wrong grout, despite being given the details, so we had to choose a new color, do a return, re order, and wait another week. They also overestimated the amount of tiles needed for the footage. We were left with 85 extra 13 x 13 tiles, over $200 in cost. We ended up selling these on Craig's list rather than dealing with Abbey any further. They also had invoice miscalculations and were unable to find the paperwork at times.
